Man it was hot today! (pics)

I haven't used F&P for quite some time but when I did, WTW came closest in consistency if you are referring to viscosity. I don't like the results of Behr so I cannot help much there. Olympic is very thin much like ready seal. Rod!~ -
We wish Gary loads of luck in his efforts to help TCN. It takes a great deal of time to keep up with a bbs and keep it running well. Don't be a stranger though Steven. Rod!~

Ok folks.... I am posting polls in all the forums, specific to that individual forum. The polls have been made "sticky" and are at the top of their forum. Please vote for the forums you feel you want open or closed. The point being please take the time to VOTE. Beth :groovy3:

Hmmmm....all interesting points... Perhaps a poll is in order.... ;) Polls are a good thing... It is interesting the rise in registrations since we did however... Beth

Do You Have What It Takes? (to be an entrepreneur)
Beth n Rod replied to PressurePros's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I would like to add burnout to the list. Some times, this business is just not for someone and they get tired of it or have a bad enough experience that makes them call it quits. Gotta love what you do. Rod!~ -
My favorite is the person who calls and says they want an estimate without telling you: who they are where they live They get upset when you won't give them a phone quote, and they refuse to give you information. They ask questions the home owner doesn't normally ask straight out of the gate. Beth :cup:

Some people just give that "xyz did it for this price last time" line to get you to come down to the price they are willing to pay in many cases. Stood on a neighbors deck and listened to a line of bs about the job we did next door saying the customer had a bunch of problems with us and we should charge him less. Quite frankly, the customer was quite satisfied with the work and asked to be put on the list for maintenance in 2 years. People are crafty and deceptive when it comes to money and what they are willing to part with. They get it in their own mind what they think it is worth and are blown away by the reality of what we need to charge to stay in business. They don't really care if we do, just so long as we give them what they want, how they want it, when they want it. Too much clinging to the customer is always right adage and pushing the contractor to bend for them without respect for the monetary obligations the contractor has or the family they are trying to support. Great strip line though Adrian, straight to the point and you get to keep your profit margins with another upstanding customer. Keep it up! Rod!~

That should not be the case. Let me know which areas seem effected and I'll check the settings. Just PM me. Beth

Many members seems to want it. Like I said, we may open some of them up down the road temporarily, or create a new one that would be appropriate for certain topics - this might also allow us to open some back up. We have some work to do first. The vendor area is open. You should post in there about the RAD line. It will get googled. You might also want to post in the DIY forum at the top. It also gets indexed. Beth
-
The engines can't index the private data. Only Vendor, Regional and News areas are currently open to viewing. There may be periods of time during the year we open a couple of teaser forums to entice new users to register, but that's down the road a ways. Beth

First woodtux job

And this, is exactly why we have sung its praises. We are not big on applying it to wet wood, but we love the way it handles weather and the durability. Beth -

This was not the "classic" we put down, it was the "fixed" batch in between the "tacky" and "classic" batches. We should be getting to the classic soon. We will let you know how the "classic" goes down. This batch was still very slightly tacky on this deck (read very minor), but it had been raining and we attributed it to the increased moisture and humidity. Beth :cup: :groovy3: -

Finally got rain here Friday, after a very very dry summer here in MD. It rained on a freshly sealed WT deck. Had thunderstorms off and on all weekend - most rain we have had in a while. Went out to check on it today, and it was just fine. It's nice to know you can seal with a window as short as an hour. We looked it over, smiled about the great application job the crew did and the way the product set up, smiled and told the client to put the furniture back on to the deck and to enjoy it. Beth -

We recently had a job that called for touch up of an existing installed product. We had an gallon of unopened product prior to the VOC changes to work with, and none of the "fuzz" came off the pad. This is why we say what we do. Same product line, newer version, releases fuzz....it's very odd... we wondered if something was reacting with the glue....something that didn't used to. Beth -

Scott, Thanks for the insight. We knew of the change to rubbermaid as we had started using the 8" pads that had an adjustable handle to use the pad at different angles (I miss them but still have a few in stock for the day I find the ability to reproduce them) but the pads have not been as good since the latest VOC product formulations release and they leave bristles behind. They will eventually blow off the deck as they do not stick to the sealer but some customers do not like the look and can be a little fussy. We are curious. Rod!~ -

Cool stuff. We have found with the Shurline pads the little hairs get left behind - but this is not just with WT, it happens with all the alkyds we use ever since the VOC changes. Very odd, but whatever happened to these formulas - for WT, SRD and ATO, all three now release the little hairs where before they didn't. May have to try the 18" pads. Beth -
I like Joseph Paul. Has a very nice ring to it. :) Beth

Scott, Do you have any feedback as to how they are contending with cupped boards and the 18" speed mops effectiveness of use on them? This is my only concern with such a large applicator. Rick, I for one am glad that you are finally obtaining the results you are looking for. I have been waiting to get your feedback on WT for years and hopefully it will be favorable. Rod!~ -

We got our pails of Wood Tux "classic" in and will probably begin applying from them next week. We did open one, and compare it to the "fixed" wood tux (not the tacky batch bu the fixed but thin batch) and from what we could tell is is thicker, and seems to set up just fine. We are very glad to see it. It's nice to have the "classic" back. Rod visited an ipe deck about a week ago. This deck, was done in March with a pail of WTW that was from the end of last season, so it should be the "classic". It was holding up beautifully compared to how the prior product held up on that deck which was Cabot's ATO. The owner was thrilled and glad we changed them from ATO to WTW. Also have some WTW from last season (again, should be the same as "classic" from what Russell has said) on our teak deck furniture in late march, early april. We get lots of sun on the deck, and it looks like it was just applied a month ago. Again, last time we put ATO on it and by this time in the season last year the ATO was failing. The WTW is not. We are glad the "classic" is back. And we will be glad to apply it and see how well it lasts. Beth -
