  1. Russ nailed it. They need to inspect the wood for insects, they must have something in there that is emerging. The wood peckers hear the "dinner bell" and are simply enjoying the feast. Might consider replacing that board. Beth

  6. We have not had a problem with that. WTW has worked fine for us on redwood. Beth
  7. WTW tips

Go back over the deck you have already applied WTW to with mineral spirits to wipe it down. That should take care of it. You can also add 2 to 4 oz to the gallon of Japan drier (you can get it at a paint store) to add to your 5'er at the initial time of application and see if that helps your cure time. Beth

    Goof off works too. Beth
  11. WTW tips

We have begun using an airless paint sprayer in order to limit the application rate and adjust the amount of product we are putting down by making additional passes as the wood will accept it. So far, the results have been very encouraging. Rod!~

  16. Stripper ?

There will not be a magic bullet type of stripper that will work on all finishes. Different compositions require different active ingredients to react with them and so you will find that you may need 2-3 types to handle finishes ranging from wax to resin (alkyd, polymer and other synthetics) and acrylic to latex. We currently use the same as Celeste mention HD-80 but also use some additives we buy from Tom @ ACR Products that boost or extend the range of activity for most sealers. For the rest, we use Eacochems products to strip the tougher stuff. Rod!~

  20. It won't take the sealer very well due to the linseed oil hardening the wood. Go light. Rod!~

  25. MD companies

We're in MD, but if we tried to pay that wage no one would want to work. I can't see it ruffling any feathers, except for those who already violate labor laws, and boy have we heard some stories! Beth
