WTW Ipe Red Cedar
Beth n Rod replied to Proclean's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
There is also this... Ironwood Information Looks like Ironwood is also a "brand" Ironwoods, Ironwood - Ipe hardwood, decking, bridges, boardwalks, docks. Durable wood decking materials Ipe is also often referred to as "ironwood". No matter how you slice it, it's beautiful wood and a joy to work on. Beth :) -
WTW Ipe Red Cedar
Beth n Rod replied to Proclean's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Looks great...but....uh...what about the over-spray on the brick? That is a pistol to get off. We have done a deck with the same design in the rails with poles for spindles and the rails cedar. Finally turned the customer on to wtw western cedar for the Ipe' and they loved it. Rod!~ btw, Ironwood aka Hornbeam is not in the same as Ipe and rarely achieves use in lumber due to it's small size which is limitedly suitable as a building material. Ipe' in contrast grows taller and has a thicker trunk which makes it suitable for lumber and other milling production. -

Ken - copy and paste.... ;) Sometime the clients will tell you that just to get you to give a discount. In sales terms it is called a flinch. Beth -

Well, what d' ya know. That is some good news for Russell. This is worthy of a press release so why not get the news out? Rod! -
They do that already and I am sure it helps them to know that someone else values their life unlike the ones who are sending them to waste. So far Philip, this has only served to segway into a counter productive debacle between you and I and as others have posted their unfavorable view of our exchange, I am ending it here. To the readers, I apologize for the detraction from this thread. Rod!~

Cetol dek will not work on Ipe' unless you use acetone to prime it with and only small sections you can coat within about 15 minutes. WTW will work without the prime and will set up faster. You can call me or have your friend call...my # is in the signature. Rod!~ -
Hey Kevin, Sorry about the convolution and I agree, it was getting a bit to narrow of scope. But to reply to your response: War is money. It fuels the economy. Red tape, I don't think so in that respect but more likely what can "they" get away with and how to position it in order to do so. This is in the conspiracy tone but none-the-less, it is my perception. We have the capabilities to do some major damage and render nations such as Iraq harmless in just a few weeks or less. But the strategies employed were not well thought out and now it is on the ground and face to face with the enemy who could be any civilian. I don't like that we went there to begin with and the fact that it is being so badly mismanaged is compounding the efforts and boosting the death toll. I say quit wasting time and get the job done and get the heck out. Otherwise, it becomes obvious we are there for another reason. I say it is oil. Rod!~

Jon, Don't do it. Call Rod. He's applied Cetol DEK to many decks over the years, but never, ever to ipe. Think thin not thick. Ipe is an annual maintenance wood, no matter how you slice it. Beth -

Beth n Rod posted a topic in Contractor Help Wanted - Job Leads
Three Maryland leads: 20747, 20721, 20708 All involve deck work, one has a house wash and a deck and a fence. Email Beth@seedirtrun.com or call me if you want them. Beth -
Mel, In one word...no. That is incorrect. At least to me it is and towards anything about me. This thread is about 911 and the supposed reasons why we are at war. In my "perfect world" people like you or anyone else would be listening without admonition and actually care about what other people have to say when it comes to the position against wasting human life for a BS cause. These people in middle eastern countries only pose a threat when here. They have no long range nuke capabilities, no navy, no real armies...nothing but militia and people who are damned pissed that we are in their country over someone else getting the blame, who of which we can not find in the dessert. Philip, Here you go with the labels. I could stand the debate up until then. Now it is going negatively. Frankly, I don't care what I look like, I stand for what is right and I thought it was plain and evident that I was against the war in my first post. As far as blabbering whatever, that is what people call it when they don't want to hear anything contrary to what they are set on. I never said anything about soldiers being stupid and it is not BS when I speak in favor of their lives. Have a good day all. Rod!

I am firing my Deck Restoration guy
Beth n Rod replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
No, they are not. And sometime you want just a percarb, and oxyclean will work in a pinch. (Sodium Percarbonate) Beth -
My responses in blue: Again, arbitrary and insubstantial. The Victim here is someone who is being misled to go and fight for something that is not warranted. I don't believe in war for any reason and that is the part you do not get. Trying to convince me on the contrary is a waste of time. Rod!~

Gold kick plates? Or do you mean brass? I have not seen gold ones. In any case, watch the chems on metals.... Beth -
Jump in anyone and correct me if I am wrong, but if a machine doesn't bypass, and sits idle without the trigger being released...ummm...you can seriously damage the pump? Isn't this a common problem on the little cold units you get at the box stores...you only have so long before you really need to pull the trigger? Beth

Perspective is another way of skewing the facts and drawing attention away from the real problem. There is a significant difference between people dying by misadventure than being killed for being in another country against the will of those people. You are talking apples and orangutans. Drugs are taken at will, being shot or blown up is against anyones will. Come on people. These are human beings and to discount them or belittle their predicament is just full of disregard for life in itself. And I have to wonder how many complaining here about my posts are right to lifers and since when did the line get drawn outside the womb. Time to go to work. Good day all. Rod!~

I told you that not many would like the hypothesis. No shame here, just a different view. People are still dying and that is the undeniable point. More than those that died in the towers. And we are no nearer any victory or control than we were 2 years ago. It's Vietnam all over again. One thing I will say is that I am not afraid to ask the tough questions...Who is really responsible? Now if no one here can give a definitive answer that does not promote the crap being fed to us in the media, don't bother. It's a waste of time and nothing will come out of it but a bunch of chest thumping. I'm tired and it's time to get on to something worth while, like family. I pray none of them or any of yours ever have to go and be subject to the horrors going on overseas now. It hurts the soul. g'nite all. Rod!~

If it is acrylic, you will need something stronger. Try some BIX on it in a test spot. Beth
