This should help Jeff, Just think of it in terms of the pH scale. 0* is neutral. Above is gaining heat and below is losing heat. There is still some heat but not as much as is needed to get the job done. What you say?? That's a bunch of (insert expletive)!! Ok, fine! Go to HD or Lowes and pick up a supply of those pocket hand warmers and place them where you see fit....oh...and think warm thoughts. Cya...when ya get back and...thawed out...:lgcold: Rod!~ ps, by monday we should be getting the same here.:headspin:

need fencing help
Beth n Rod replied to Curb Appeal's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We would clean that with a percarb and then neutralize it. Would I raise the price? Yes. Look at your demographics before you do though if you are not familiar with your area so that you learn about your consumers there. Beth :cup: -
We did the same with gutter cleaning. It was overly time consuming and not profitable. The majority of roofs had a pitch that made walking them unsafe. Especially when they were covered with morning dew or ice/snow. I tell ya, climbing 3 - 3 1/2 stories to clean a gutter with a roof you cannot walk for $25 - $65 isn't worth it, and every job had 2-6 gutters and the terrain was mostly sloped. Try carrying a set of 36' or 40' ladders around townhouse complexes with slippery hills and fences and decks as obstacles to get around, climb, pull up the ladder you used to get on the deck to use it to get to the roof. We tried doing everything from the ladder to even using a pw'er with an open wand to shoot the debris out but it never compensated for the costs and labor...so we stopped the service. Instead, we concentrate on other avenues that work much better for us and this way we get to leave the flying trapeze/high wire act jobs to the desperate. There's no good money in it with the pricing other companies charge. It's low-balled to death. Rod!~

American Power Washing Idol! Who will it be? Seriously, that sounds like a cool way to cut costs. Good luck with it! I'm sure someone will be interested. Beth

The one thing I don't like to pay for is shipping water. We buy in powder form when ever possible. This results in lower shipping costs which helps with budgeting and stretching the allocated $$$$$. We have been testing Simple Cherry with favorable results. Cannot offer any comparison on Citracleen as we have not tried it, but if it comes in liquid form, I would be less inclined to use it for that reason alone. Rod!~

Akzo Nobel is a multi billion dollar company. The manufacture coating for the hulls of ships...planes...autos...and then they also have decorative coatings and wood items as well, but they have heavy duty industrial stuff. They are HUGE. I used to sell software to them many moons ago... Beth

Beth n Rod replied to Gumlogguy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
The Flood guys will be at Celeste and Roger's event, and I bet they will bring you a sample if you say please. ;) The Flood product you are speaking of is called Supreme Performance. We have never done a dock, there are not many around us, so I can't offer much help as to what stands up under those conditions. Beth -
Vacuum the majority of the debris first. Then bring in a hose and rinse them down (if there is a floor drain. S.B. because of codes). Dam the door threshold to contain the water. Once you are done, then attend to the smaller details that are left i.e. plaster mud, tile grout tags, marks etc. Use a Glass cleaner (diluted) on the wall tile to bring up a polished look. Mop with a neutral cleaner and keep people out till the floor is dry. Any more questions? Rod!~

Um....yeah.... pretty sure Jack and his Dad both know.... The guy playing the brother is good at playing creeps. Played a real creep on ER for a while to...until a helicopter fell on him. First helicopter cut his arm off, second fell on him and killed him and no one noticed all day. That was pretty funny. Beth

It sure is good seeing you here Chris, but I knew this would not stay hush hush for long. Biggest change since you were sealing wood, I think are your VOC laws changes which have effected coatings greatly. Heck, the rest of it, well you could show us all a thing or two I am sure. In fact...you taught the class we took in 1999. You rock man, great to see you're thinking about wood again. Beth -
need some advice for upcoming season
Beth n Rod replied to Aqua Pro's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
What did you apply when you did the deck before? (solid, semi-transparent or what) How did you clean and prep the deck before you sealed it? Has the customer done anything to the deck since your last visit? Personally, I think after being in business two years, you should expect you need to go look at the deck until you get the hang of maintenance and product performance. What you are saying is you are not sure how to proceed, so to me, getting all your info together should include visiting the deck, so you are better prepared to quote. Typically, we find at two years you are doing horizontal maintenance mostly, but this can vary depending on many things, such as climate, exposure, product applied, and so forth. You should not have as many costs to maintain it. But again, this will depend on the condition it is in. You should not have to strip the deck if the product is intact. Go look at it, take a few photos, and post them here. Photos help :) Beth -
