The problem with inverters is that some of the lesser expensive ones don't produce a true sine wave ac current which can mess up some of the components in sensitive electronics. Regular motors don't have much electronics built into them so they are safe to be used with an inverter. Only problem is you need to be running your vehicles engine to avoid draining the battery which is more than likely not a deep cycle battery. These can be run down by leaving the radio on for just a few hours which consumes about the same amps as a pump motor. A generator is a better solution if you have the demand and the room for it in your vehicle. A cheaper alternative is to get a dc pump. If the battery dies on the site, you can always hook it up to your vehicle and run the pump while charging it through the vehicles charging system. You just need to have plenty of hose to run from the vehicle to where you are working. We are going to be setting up a 200' hose system this season that will be vehicle mounted. (no more carrying 5 gal pails and sprayer units with all the equipment it entails around.) The nice part of this is that if the battery dies, the van has a super battery system and 2-12v outlets at 20amps @ I can plug into. Rod!~

We use 1 wire. It is lighter and so far have lasted me 2 years. I will get a new set this year to replace them. The lighter 1 wire hose helps to reduce operator fatigue and ease maneuverability on raised decks. I had a 2 wire hose 50' length and while it was very durable, the weight of it and the stiffness was hard to deal with in confined work areas. My back took a strain from it. I have enough back problems as it is before getting into this business and will use the tool best suited to the job and operator performance. Rod!~

Just for laughs: One guy has been drinking beer and is pretty toasted. He comes along another guy who is lit on maryjane and bumps into the guy deliberately. He wants to start a fight. The guy who is lit is calm and cool with the world and has no reason to want to ruin a good buzz and says "excuse me". The drunk guy gets up in his face and starts to threaten to kick his butt for bumping into him. The lit guy is trying to be civil and keep things cool when the whole ruckus draws a few people and a couple of the lit guys friends. The drunk guy starts pushing the lit guy. The lit guy knows that a guy who is drunk is slower and lacks stamina. Then he asks his friends if they can go get something to eat after he is done kicking the drunk guys butt cause he has got the munchies real bad. He leaves the drunk guy heaving his guts out on the pavement and is off to Ben and Jerry's. From a true story and no, that wasn't me either. Rod!~

A question going around the office is generated towards reality: when does he eat and all the other normal body functions demands get taken care of? According to the show, he never gets a break. Talk about hardcore! Rod!~

John, You are a maniac. Thats one heck of a itinerary! Running 2 businesses, being employed and all the volunteer work must make you a pretty tired guy in my opinion. I hope it is all worth it to you and that you get what you deserve for all that hard work. Glad to see you are putting in some vacation time after that...I just hope you are able to get enough rest on the flights to keep you awake to enjoy it. We will travel somewhere around 325-350 miles to go to a RT. (figured @ 70mph X 5 hours drive time...oh!... and no heavy traffic!) For other points beyond, that depends on the event and the airfare. We have flown to conventions in LV and Dallas/Ft.Worth and were looking forward to the AZ convention till that changed. No need to go back to LV as I used to live there and got burned out. Beth wanted to see AZ because I was born there and I too miss it. So far, we are going to Celeste's RT in NC and Tom and Barbara's RT in PA. 5 & 3 hour drives respectively. Rod!~

John, Just admit it! You like to shoot guns and pressure washing lets you shoot all the time! ;) I have to admit that I really like the washing aspect of the business because it is like a toy that I have learned the nuances of its use along the way. Plus, with a 2-gun set up, the black nozzle water fights are inevitable! Rod!~

That is why we use an accountant who has been around for many years and is very knowledgeable on the irs and its aims. This will help significantly in any audit situation because all the information is already in the reports. An experienced C.P.A. can help guide you on the Do's and Don'ts of business so you can avoid the flags that trigger the irs audits to begin with. Not to say that they won't have a selective audit but it helps to minimize the necessity for one. Rod!~

Company website using others pictures
Beth n Rod replied to John T's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I think you are right, Firefox has a plug-in that allows one to extract images from a page. Just put your company name on the photo over the work for the most part leaving little more than the actual job. After that, oh well. At least you cut down the amount of available photo which is part of the deterrent. Rod!~ -
God has nothing to do with it. People do and the society we live in does. It created them. Like I said, not all will agree with my idea. btw...We are all crazy :taz: Rod!~

I am going way out of the box here and many will not agree with me on it but I should hope that it will be considered for the benefit of the many instead of the few. Quit the war on drugs and send the junkies all they want in a sectioned off area and let them fend for themselves. Let them burn out there and leave the rest of us to deal with the more important issues of the country. Once you legalize drugs for use in this regard, you literally take away the market in which the smugglers and dealers thrive on and I mean thrive. Eliminate the demand by saturating the market. Reverse psychology! Some may think it cruel a proposition but everything else being implemented isn't working. Someone will always find a way to circumvent the system, usually with help from the inside. Increasing the border security and taking away our freedoms to combat this and other problems only strangles the county and its populace. In addition...if the junkies don't have the will power to get help in getting over their addictions then leave them be. It's their choice. Who made us the custodians of their lives? They are individuals who for whatever reason have made the decision to do what they do, and until they change their minds, there is no hope for them. It is up to the person to initiate change. In the meantime, if someone is caught with illegal drugs, instead of arresting them, send them to the junkie sector! Let them learn to live off the land and make their own choices. Yes, they can make their own choices. They just need to find the strength of will to do it. Rehab won't do it if they are not ready or want it. The number of rehabilitated who relapse is far larger than those who stay clean. Especially in the presence of other users who make it easy to slip. EX: This is like trying to quit smoking in a room full of other smokers. I tried and failed until I removed myself from the smoking environment. Only then did I succeed in quitting smoking. Buffalo News - Drug criminals are liable for their crimes, not society Drug Rehab and Treatment Centers ScienceDaily: Genetics Plays Role In Relapse Of Illicit Drug-seeking Behavior Arizona Illicit Drugs Statistics drug users relapse statistics - Google Search These sites are just a few that show the fallacy of trying to rehabilitate people who don't want it. They beg to help people with abuse problems, but needless to say, unless the person is willing, it is a waste of time to force someone to become rehabilitated. No, I am not a cruel and heartless person but a practical one and a pragmatist. One must look at all options. Even those that are not in the publicly popular segment. Rod!~

An idea for removing latex paint from decks
Beth n Rod replied to plainpainter's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Sounds like the same results as if using a heat gun to strip paint with. Get it hot enough and it will come off. Downey fabric softener eh?....no wonder I itch after my clothes have had that stuff on it. lol Rod!~ -
bummer, I got a 404 error. Rod!~
