BIG Ipe project
Beth n Rod replied to RogerG's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We have done a smaller (much) version of the rails with cable and it is a pita factor in itself with other products and I can only imagine what it would be like with an acrylic to clean as you go. You two got yourself in a doozy sized job and over water no less. I like the color but not how it hides the wood so much. I guess I am spoiled on the more natural appearance. Great job! Rod!~ -
This is tonight folks! (wed 11/15 8pm eastern) Beth :cup:

Hi Troy, Did you see the link to the ACR Products round table this weekend? You don't want to miss it. It's inder the Easter Region News and Events forum. Beth
-
Personally, I think we are very fortunate here on TGS to have such a wonderful group of vendors who support the site and the industry. Thank you all! :) Beth

Should be a great chat! See you there!!! Beth

John, Rod just went through a no pressure issue with ours. I'll ask him to post here later. There was an in-line filter that had a plastic screw on casing that had small cracks in it...that was our culprit. If you have that you might try moving the filter to the end of the hose on your pigtail. We did, and it worked. Sometimes also the squeeze ball gets boogies inside that you need to clean out. Hope this helps. Beth p.s. you could bring it to Toms so we can all learn and fix it together!

I have also heard of using it in Carpenter bee holes before sealing with caulk to destroy the nest. Rod!~

Welcome to TGS! Grab a snack, and read...you may be here for hours at a time. Ask questions as you go. There is a wealth of information here, and lots of helpful folks. By the way - there is a meeting this Sunday in PA, Nov 19th - ACR Product Round Table - supposed to be about 80 people there getting together. You should drive in for it. There is a link with info in the Eastern Regional News & Events area. Beth

We use the Shop Vac units (stainless) and they have worked just fine. $149.00 @ HD or Lowes Rod!~
-
Your local hd or lowes will have a gutter sealant or seamer that comes in caulking tubes. You can apply it by directions which in most cases needs to be clean and dry. Charge a flat rate for cleaning and add on the sealing to get your price. Rod!~

Composite Lumber Manufacturers Association and NADRA for strategic alliance
Beth n Rod posted a topic in Industry News & Events
http://www.compositelumber.org/news_2006_11_01.html [Washington, DC] -- The Composite Lumber Manufacturers Association (CLMA) and the North American Deck and Railing Association, Inc. (NADRA) have joined together in a cooperative mutual working relationship. The Board of Directors of both organizations have agreed to the formalization of this new strategic alliance. CLMA is the North American trade association that represents the composite lumber industry’s manufacturing companies and their material suppliers. CLMA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. CLMA represents manufacturers and suppliers of composite lumber to the residential and commercial building construction markets. Russell K. Snyder serves as Executive Director of the CLMA. The CLMA mission is “to provide a forum to advance the composite lumber industry in those matters, which member companies cannot accomplish individually or can better accomplish together”. NADRA is the voice of the deck, dock and railing industry. NADRA is headquartered in Meridian, Idaho. Michael Beaudry serves as Executive Vice President of the organization. Its mission is “to provide a unified source for the professional development, promotion, growth, and sustenance of the deck and railing building industry in North America so that members can exceed the expectations of their customers”. Significantly, in what is a mutually reciprocal action, CLMA has publicly endorsed NADRA as the decking industry's preferred contractor and distributor's organization, and NADRA has publicly endorsed CLMA as the composite lumber industry's preferred manufacturers association. The new CLMA – NADRA alliance will focus their initial activities to these priorities: Conducting regularly scheduled teleconferences and meetings of a joint CLMA/NADRA Codes Task Force. Organizing a joint task force that would serve to identify and create technical bulletins for publications on both Association websites, such as maintenance tips. This same task force would also evaluate other technical information needs that will be co-produced, such as a repair and maintenance brochure. CLMA members will continue to support DeckEXPO, the official tradeshow of the NADRA and the premier tradeshow for the deck, dock and railing industry. Additionally, CLMA will support Professional Deck Builder magazine, and explore additional opportunities to work together with HanleyWood Exhibitions and magazines. Continuation of bi-annual meetings with the joint leaderships to discuss opportunities to work together. The alliance will serve to further the respective agenda of both organizations, as well as their combined priorities “The formation of the Alliance will assist the memberships of both organizations with professional development, promotion, joint representation,” commented CLMA Executive Director, Russell K. Snyder. “The members of CLMA and NADRA will strive to solidify optimal recommendations, and be able to speak with one voice to the regulators, code officials and in the standards bodies, as well as to further promotion of the rapidly growing building products used in constructing decks, docks, railings and fences.” “Bringing our industry’s trade associations together as we have here with NADRA and CLMA allows for fluid communication for the purpose of supporting the industry as a whole. This is a tremendous step forward for this rapidly growing industry. NADRA looks forward to a long and rewarding relationship with the CLMA,” commented NADRA Executive Vice President Michael Beaudry. “As NADRA continues to develop its contractor education programs, we will look to members of CLMA for input and support.” For further information regarding CLMA, contact: Composite Lumber Manufacturers Association, 1156 – 15th Street, NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20005; telephone: 202-207-0906; fax: 202-331-2714; www.compositelumber.org. For further information regarding NADRA, contact: North American Deck and Railing Association, PO Box 1324, Meridian, Idaho 83680; telephone/fax: 888 623-7248; www.NADRA.org. ### -

A suggestion: Are you ever reminded to listen to the voice inside? Your heart, your soul, your spirit all speak to you and if you aren't listening they become what I can liken to the term 'atrophied' and unheard. To 'hear' them takes personal conviction, determination and discipline to accomplish. Quite your mind and meditate on silence...you know, the inner dialog that's constantly buzzing...stop it. Then listen in the tranquility of your silence. The message is for you alone and does not apply to others who's life has come to pass along a different path and whose circumstances are completely different than yours. Listen to the voice inside and live accordingly. Rod!~

Ok Jeff, you got your wish. Now, If the country goes to hell in a handbasket guess who's house is going to get egged?? JK...we voted the d-way (Republicans say "if it has a "D" by it, it means Don't vote, but if it has an "R" by it, it means that it's the Right choice...how hard is that?" I guess that logic doesn't work for everyone. We'll see how things turn out. Yes, taxes are going to get raised to pay for the spending and tax cuts the republicans made over the years but at least in the end there will be a 'Balanced' budget and the deficit will be reduced in the process.
