So long as you aren't breaking the rules, you won't get into trouble or get an infraction. Is it really so hard to be respectful and professional? I just don't see the need to bash, flame, call names, or use profane language to make a point. It is disrespectful of others who come here and look forward to avoiding those things, so yes we have rules and we do follow them. Other boards may not care as much about the level of professionalism online as we do, and that is up to them. Here, we care about it. Beth p.s. By the way, others can't tell if you have an infraction or not. The person who has one can see it, and the Moderation Staff can see it, but basically if you share with the community that you have one that is up to you. Why you would want to advertise to everyone that you have broken a rule and been reprimanded is beyond me, since otherwise no one would have known. It doesn't exactly make you look professional in my opinion when you fly that flag so to speak.

Some brick help please...
Beth n Rod replied to Curb Appeal's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hi Joel, Those are some great photos. Would it be possible for you to please edit your post and add them as attachements? It's hard on the database when they are added to a thread that way.... Have a great day and thanks again for sharing your job with us! Beth :cup: -
Simply put...I don't believe the media. I know we are being mislead. That is all I need to say on this. Others have their views and thoughts to be heard. BUT - Have you heard the saying "we have seen the enemy, the enemy is us"? Consider. Rod!~

As I have always said...Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger! Rod!~

The screens are fiberglass and they will deteriorate with time and sun exposure. Most of what I was seeing looks like someone was pushing from the inside causing the fibers to break. Yes, I see the cat claw marks and the way the cat has made to screens bulge outwards. I agree, it is unlikely that a house wash could have caused such a state in them to be this deteriorated. They are much older than the customer is telling you. Perhaps he is referring to a few he changed 7 years ago but that is not the case for the rest of them which are apparently quite older. Fiberglass does not degrade with cleaners such as we use but with solvents such as acetone and formaldehydes and heat. They do not take stress very well as indicated by the pics showing the bulging. This is not necessarily your problem but here is a possible solution. Have the person buy the materials and you can re-screen them for him as a peaceful solution. Given the benefit of the doubt, it is a meet-em-half-way proposition. The screens now come in vinyl, fiberglass or aluminum (black or grey) and the spline comes in different guage's. Make sure he buys the correct size spline or either of the following is possible: you will not be able to get it to stay in the channel or it will not fit inside the channel along with the screen. Buy a good quality screen roller tool and a cutting knife ($15.00 max). The screens will costs avg. $6.00/30' roll (enough to do several screens) and the spline will cost around $4.00-6.00 for 50-100' which is enough to handle several screens. Each screen should take about 10 minutes to change once you get the hang of it. Then, you can make this an add on service and charge $20.00-$35.00/screen to do it. my .02 Rod!~

OK guys and gals.... Right now we just have Element as a skin. This is due to the upgrade, since the other two skins have not been upgraded by the developer yet. As soon as they are, they will be added back. Hopefully that won't be too long. Stay tuned! Beth

Jason, In our area it does carry some weight, in part because local members market it as a part of their doing business. Perhaps it doesn't mean as much in PR, but then I have said for years now, that you get out of PWNA what you put into it. And yes, I did say what I did with a straight face. I'm only trying to be helpful. You might want to remember that. Have a better day. Beth -

Jason, Look at it this way....If you are getting 5 days worth of material jammed into 2 days, it's going to be intense. Rod and I have sat through the two day class. (we did hoods briefly a while back - wasn't for us) It was quite a bit of info to digest. You also have to remember that hood cleaning has a whole other level of liability attached to it - fire. To get the most out of the instruction and to help ensure you are thoroughly trained and able to work safely, I can see why for this particular class there might be tougher guidelines. I know you are chomping at the bit to learn and get cleaning, but sometimes it is prudent to slow down and think about why things are being done the way they are. The topic you have chosen to study has perhaps the highest amount of liability of any in the power washing arena. It is certainly the most heavily regulated in my opinion. Lastly, it is to your benefit to be a member in addition to being certified. You may not see that yet, but it carries weight and that leads to jobs. Beth -

Jason, I'm not sure you got correct information. Here's an excerpt from a newsletter I got via email. Kitchen Exhaust Training and Certification PWNA is now offering kitchen exhaust certification at the Fall Technical Seminar in conjunction with Phil Ackland Holdings, now accredited by the International Standards Organization (ISO). The training will familiarize kitchen exhaust cleaners with a consistent and definable set of responsibilities and limitations that outline the obligations of competent exhaust cleaning companies and Crew Leaders. Phil Ackland's Kitchen Exhaust Cleaners Certification ProtocolT and corresponding Training Curriculum is a result of years of research and consultation with fire inspectors, legislators, insurance companies and exhaust cleaners. Cost: $799.00 Sign up for PWNA courses here. Purchase PWNA manuals here. This is what is being offered in Florida. Hope this helps. Try not to label PWNA as a whole in a negative way. PWNA is made up of volunteers who lead the org, and of the members who support it. We are members. It's not a perfect org, but the goal really is to help the contractor. Maybe you just got bad info. I don't know....We are not into hoods. Beth p.s. please review the Forum rules. Thank you. -

Hopefully it goes over well and you get pampered a little. Stay off your backside. That's got to hurt to sit on it, and I bet it takes longer to heal too. Ouch. Beth
