Would you attend a Grime Scene Round Table event?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
We are planning on the weekend of Oct. 28th. Those who are on the committee have all agreed on this date for several reasons: farther in to the season it is the easier it is for us all to get away and attend earier in the month PWNA is already holding another event and we do not want a conflict the weekend we have chosen should have fun things to do regardless of the location since it is right before Halloween several years ago there was an event held in NJ on the same weekend that had record attendance, which suggest is is a good time of year to break away from working on a saturday and join an event Beth :cup: :groovy3: -

One PITA!!!
Beth n Rod replied to Jarrod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Sikkens Cetol DEK in Cedar would look like ....sort of like a dark caramel apple coating....forms a film on top, slippery when when kind of thing, has uneven wear, cracking and peeling mostly on the floor and rail caps, and takes a long dwell time even for HD-80. It has changed in formulation due to VOC laws, and today what is in the can is Alkyd. However a coating that age would have been a polymer resin if it was the DEK product. Whatever it was, it sure looked nasty to me. Very nice strip. Beth -
One PITA!!!
Beth n Rod replied to Jarrod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
They are lucky the rail didn't catch completely. Looks like it almost went up. Sand that puppy.... The floor - will only look so good. grease is grease...but you could try sanding. If you do, go the entire length of the board or you will have and uneven board. The rest of the cedar looks great! Beth p.s. the product you removed looks like Sikkens Cetol DEK...Cedar color. -
Wood Fence ?
Beth n Rod replied to Kory's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Without asking a number of questions, here is my guess: It could have been dry wood from weathering, over use of chemicals or too much pressure. Rod!~ -

For those who love the philosophy of hypocrisy and ambiguity
Beth n Rod replied to Jon's question in The Club House
Got this one from our office manager: Wife asks husband "should I get my breasts enlarged?" Husband replies "why don't you just wipe them with toilet paper?" Wife says "that doesn't work!" Husband retorts "sure it does, it worked on your @$$!" [ducking now] Rod!~ -
We attended the PWNA convention and went to the wood school and it has been worth it to us. The class is structured, and all the materials are outlined and you follow the coursework in a logical way. If you are working in the filed hands on is great, don't get me wrong, but it's easier to miss things. I think both are actually very important in their own ways. Do you want your kids to go to college? Will you tell them education is important? Well, it should be to you, for the same reasons. Your future. Beth

Would you attend a Grime Scene Round Table event?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
I hope you come Jim! We were hoping to meet you at Tom's last round table... It has been pouring here as well. Flooding, ruined cars, flooded and runined homes...I have never seen it this bad here from just rain alone. Usually we get tornadoes or the end of a hurricane. Hope you guys dry out up there real soon! Beth -

I have already passed this lead on and the customer has been helped. Sorry... Beth -
Ken... Round tables usually take place on Saturday's for the most part, and have a series of speakers and topics, and several vendors. Let me know if you want to join the TGS Committee to help in planning. Those already on the committee have planned round tables and conventions in the past and so we are pretty comfortable with the proven format. Folks who travel in go to a great deal of expense and generally try to get as much networking and seminar time as possible. Events normally take place the evening before and after...but not the main day of... hope this helps. Beth

After reading this myself, it was like a tug of war starting and maybe that was a misunderstanding but there wasn't the clarification until Ken came back in his own defense and now it is clear which is fine. We didn't want any conflict especially in terms of what Ken is trying to suggest which it seems many are in favor of that. Cool. But I don't think it would be realistic to hold something as big as this could be at a private residence. I think we need to confirm how many will at this point plan to attend in order to make the final decisions concerning where easier to accommodate everyone. Please take the time to participate in the poll and post how many joining you and if possible, availability to help in the committee. There has been a bit of excitement and many contributive suggestions presented so please bear with us as we try to sort it all out and do our best to make it an event for all who attend. We now return you to the topic of discussion. Rod!~

Not trying to sound condecending at all. From where I sit your comment sounded quite a bit like you were being unkind to me. Maybe we were both wrong. And c'mon yourself...if it was on the date you wanted and set in stone in the location you wanted, you wouldn't be entertaining the idea of having one of your own. It was not until after there had been discussion of other dates and locations that even came up. Like I said, start your own thread about your gathering so we can stay on topic here - The Grime Scene Round Table. :) Beth
