Shane you are sooooo lucky with your long season. Ours ends around Thanksgiving usually. Beth

Rick and Ken, do us a favor and if you plan to do that, start a different thread. The Grime Scene Round Table is not a clique get together. It's a networking event open to all, from various aspects of the pressure washing industry. The dates are set, the location IS being voted on, and frankly Ken I do not like your tone or the insinuations. This is a TGS event, and we do have say about when it is going to take place. We're planning it. If you want to help, join the committee. You may find a number of great woodies at this event. Not everyone who provides great wood care service hangs out online, and many who do, don't post. Heck Rick, until I ran into you at Tom's place and coaxed you back online, you had been scarce as well. ;) Beth p.s. My father's Birthday is also on Oct. 31st...so I do understand how that goes...

What's you vehicle of choice...and why?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Chechnya, Welcome to TGS. Look forward to reading more from you in the future. :sunshine: Beth -
Rick, You better show up with the bandito...this is halloween weekend and a TGS4EVER event we're talking about here. We can get Steve R. to come in his lab coat, and you guys can duel! Woohoo! Shurflos at 5 paces! Beth
-
Pretty simple really Ken...farther into the season you go, the better the chance guys will not be working then. The largest round table on record was held that same weekend a few years ago. Wouldn't it be great if we could break that record? They had about 60 attendees... Let's aim for 80!!! Beth p.s. not to mention that from a marketing standpoint, we can have lots of fun with things being tied into halloween themes.... a number of folks have mentioned family activites as being important to them...there are lots of reasons really. Heck, this is Rick's big chance to wear his Halloween costume - the BleAch Bandito! Lord knows it's a scary sight!

We realize the dates will not work for everyone, but if we had to accomodate everyone's schedule, we would never agree. This is far enough in advance that most should have time open. Beth

We are leaning towards the weekend of October 27th - 29th for a number of reasons. Please look at your calendars with Oct. 27-29 in mind for this event. Thanks... Beth

Would you attend a Grime Scene Round Table event?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Well one thing I will say, is that I hope that there is someone attending the event from each of the associations. I think it would be good for anyone attending to be able to meet folks from these associations and get information in an atmosphere that feels neutral to them. I have had the pleasure of meeting the leaders of various orgs and I can tell you they are hard working business men and women just like we all are, and there is much to learn from them. Join or not, that's up to you. But learning and helping your business to grow involves being open minded and willing to hear new ideas, suggestions, ways of working and points of view even if they differ from our own. Our wish for this event is that it helps us all grow and learn together as professionals and it makes all of us more successful. Off my soapbox... Beth -
Let's pick a location for the Grime Scene Round Table
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Williamsburg, VA is a great place also. Lots to do and see in attractions, great shopping and dining and the accommodations are very reasonable. It's a family oriented place. I recall that was one thing some folks have mentioned to us both online and offline. Beth -
What type of Grime Scene Round Table would you like to see?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Jason, You bringing that fine Puerto Rican Rum? ;) Should at least make for a happy raft ride! Beth -
Anyone interested in helping us to plan this event, who has time to do it, please contact us by phone or email. We realize many of you are willing to help to plan this event. One thing I will say from my experience in assisting with conventions is that being organized as a group is important. Anyone willing to help needs to be able to spend time researching, planning, sourcing, whatever the task may be as we decide as a group. Beth

Folks, I'm going to put up some other TGS Round Table related threads with polls. Please vote in them so we can better plan this event. Thanks! Beth

For some greases, Sodium Hydroxide works well while on others it doesn't. Butyl adds a causticity to help break down the fats faster and more completely. Other ingredients help to keep the grease from re-solidifying on the surface before it can be washed. The chemical reactivity worksheet in this forum can help you understand more about the nature of these chemicals although it does not tell you what their purpose is which can only be determined by chemists who design them. Sodium metasilicate is a caustic builder adding to the caustic range for improving and sustaining the reaction. We use this product for house washing which it does well in helping to remove oxidation, exhaust soot and road grime from surfaces close to highways and arterial traffic. It is great for helping to remove sealer from our equipment and it is used as a clean up for any drips and over-spray accidents. A valuable tool to have in your chem arsenal. Rod!~

We could be looking at 50 to 60 people....you sure you want to offer up your house? We also need to think about things like spaces to hold the meeting, spaces to break into groups to hear various topics discussed, etc...spaces for vendors to set up tables.... think mini convention - bigger than a round table I'm willing to bet. What hotels are near your home? Hotels offer conference rooms...just throwing out there some things to think about. Beth
-
It would be sooooooo cool if you did! Drag Ronnie Baby with you! Beth
-
Of course on the other hand we could move it slightly north and hit Atlantic City!!!! Beth
-
Hmmmm.....Williamsburg Va is affordable, and has family style attractions. Maybe we could find good hotel rates there? There are theme parks ( not sure when they close for the season will have to check) and there is Colonial Williamsburg, and also all the outlet shopping. Beth

What is the most effective way to get jobs?
Beth n Rod replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Chechnya, Please fill in your User Profile, in the User CP. You may not be in business yet, but you do have to at least have a personal name, address, city, state and so forth. This is mandatory. Beth -
Have you tried strippers? Sodium Hydroxide based? Beth

Get pictures! Get pictures! Before....and after...from the same place in the yard. Beth

Thad Eckhoff and Jason Grogan... Thank you! Beth

I have an idea for a great unique type of race that only a pw'er could think up. Help me out on this one guys and see what we can come up with. Its called Power Wash Derby! Come up with a wagon of sorts that has 1 or 2 guns and is propelled by only the water that comes out of the wand pointing aft! The contest would be something to the effect of distance traveled and best time. We could use a Latimat mat to contain the water and a reclamation system for reusing the water as an environmentally conscious addition. Any Sponsors or materials donators would get great publicity from this one! Feed back??? Rod!~
-
Celeste... Sounds like a blast to me! Family oriented is wonderful. Let's all get to work on this. Anyone who wants to help organize is welcome! Any vendors who have expertise and want to speak and/or demo on a topic, would be welcome. Let's keep the suggestions flowing and make this happen! Beth

Re- Thinking Woodcare
Beth n Rod replied to James's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
That's a real fine line, and you know it. Given the context of the thread on a another BBS that your comments were a spill over from, and the mention of "Wilbur" in the dialog, I think the innuendo is there. Subtle, but there. Besides, do you ever address Shane as Mr. Shane, or Rod as Mr. Rod, or Rick as Mr. Rick? No, you don't....yet. Call it mothering if you like, I call it administering the rules. By the way, yes I changed your avatar...I know what happens when that keystroke combination is used. Were you class clown in High School Ken? Beth
