California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas....all of these were part of Mexico before we took over and drove them back. Just a little history lesson to add here. Beth

We ALL come from families that were once immigrants. America was built by immigrants and is kept alive by their labor. I see the biggest focus aimed at the hispanic's. Boy, do we discriminate or what?!?! What about the asian, english, french, german, etc... who come here illegally? If all this weren't in the news, this conversation wouldn't be happening with any of us. You are being distracted by the media. Rod!~

We have the type Rich suggests. Great tool. Beth

First Wood Job - It's HUGE
Beth n Rod replied to HYDROACTIVE's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Paul, Ohhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhh Nice!!!! Jeremy, Hook up with Paul. Beth :cup: :sunshine: :groovy3: -
Yesterday as we were out working, we noticed that there were almost no contractors out there (smaller crews and fewer trucks), and the landscapers were not out at all. This area has a huge hispanic population. From what we could see here both legals and illegals took the day to rally. Of course we are in the DC area. We even had a homeowner (not one we were working for just a bystander) try to give us a hard time. I'm not going to get into the right or wrong of it all. Beth

Proper Clothing for protecting yourself from Chems
Beth n Rod replied to Lou Beach's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Lou, You can use lemon juice, vinegar or even a bottle of coke or pepsi to neutralize. We carry a gallon of cheap vinegar on all deck jobs. Get PVC suit, get eye protection (goggles), get a chemical respirator and by all means use them. Nitrile gloves are a MUST. Also you will learn real fast about wind or breeze and learn to check the air before you spray...Trees are your friends, they tell you when the wind comes. If you get hit with chems, water to dilute dilute dilute is your friend, but always neutralize. Also remember the reverse can happen with an acid, and if that hits you then use a mild dish soap to neutralize. Feel better soon. :) Beth -
F18 MAx For Cleaning (not stripping) a Deck?
Beth n Rod replied to fireandrain's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I suggest you use a percarb for that... If you use the F-18 Max or the F-18 F-18, and cut the strength back to about 2 oz to the gallon. For a SH (F-18 Max, HD-80, or Timberstrip Pro) based product we generally can use it at about that range with a shorter dwell time to do what you are thinking of. Beth -
I ended up in the ocean the first time I tried it. But it was fun! At least I was near Bermuda... Beth

If I forget any I can add them to the poll. So who is your favorite comic book super hero or just plain super hero? Beth
-
Not usually. The question I have is: Is there a coating on it that is UV sensitive? Some coatings/sealers have UV inhibitors that actually absorb sunlight. These exhibit a colorshift (turn darker) with exposure. Other UV inhibiting sealers actually refract the UV rays creating a glare. Rod!~

Trex and sodium hydroxide
Beth n Rod replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We have used HD-80 to clean colored trex like the ones in our photo gallery of Joe's Crabshack deck. We also made sure to use Citralic afterwards to make sure the hd-80 wasn't still active to creat problems with either the trex or customers using the deck to dine on. Citralic will also help to BLEECH out the tannin stains that come out of the trex itself. Rod!~ -
EFC-38 mix ratio for X-JET
Beth n Rod replied to yazbird8's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Run your water through a softener filter. For EFC-38: mix in warm water at 12oz/gal then downstream with your x-jet/m-5 which ever you have. Allow dwell time and possible additional applications in heavy accumulation spots. Rod!~ -

deck cleaning help
Beth n Rod replied to clean kentucky's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Only if they are inter-twined with for instance; Lattice or rail systems. Otherwise we do just like Ken, plastic and tarps depending upon the plants ability to sustain the weight accordingly.Quick tip: Put plastic on plants just before you start spraying and vent periodically those that are in direct sun to avoid cooking. Otherwise, leave a bottle of salad dressing for the homeowner and a check to replace them. ;) Rod!~
