  5. deck cleaning help

efc-38 already contains other ingredients that help to add a kick. Ie: It's a lite duty stripper as well. For heavy algae on wood, I use HD-80 at 3oz. (by weight) per gallon and neutralize with citralic at 6oz./gallon Rod!~
  6. Arsenic

Copper is the ingredient that is most prominent in pressure treated wood today. With the EPA ban on CCA wood there is no longer any in production as of 12-31-2003. New wood containing either CA-Copper Azole is widely used in our area or ACQ-Alkaline Copper Quaternary (quat for short). What we have been seeing in the CA wood is veins of copper exuding from the wood and hardening on the surface which looks a pale green same as the patina you see on statues. ACQ wood can tend to be a bit difficult to get a stain to penetrate. Washing beforehand helps but does not aleviate the problem. Rod!~

  8. Arsenic

Arsenic is no longer added to wood as I understand it. A couple years back, the govt. banned new construction with CCA treated lumber. The new pressure treatments out there that we see most often are CA-B and ACQ. Copper seems to be the new common ingredient and it has issues all its own. The types of fasteners and such that used to be used in construction have changed, due to the corrosive nature of the new chemical treatment. It is still advisable to have a deck sealed to help make sure to cut down on the leaching out of the chemicals and the amount of human exposure. There are not new studies at this time outlining the effects of the new chemical treatments....give it 10 years, and there may be.... Beth
  9. We use both pump-up's and a decker sprayer depending upon the size of the job. Most large jobs get the decker, the smaller ones may only see the pump up. The decker has a Pumptec 2gpm 250psi plunger pump with an 15amp motor. Just order two new pumps with epoxy coating to protect the manifolds inner channels. Rod!~
  10. Now we know why you make such short posts Jim. :)To busy to be sociable. Rod!~
  11. If it is paint, I would recommend sanding the deck to bring up a level surface if needed then prime and paint. If HD-80 does not completely work, then go with eacochem to strip and then neutralize with a citrus solvent based neutralizer. my .02 Rod!~
  12. Politics still, but not gas prices

I don't trust that which feels compelled to lie, manipulate or mislead except that it will continue to do it to serve itself and never the people of whom it was designed initially to represent. There is nothing to substantiate any of it for any reason. Rod!~

Jamie, Take the rig, and drive up to ACR Products to Tom Vogel's. He's a Hydrotek dealer, and a great guy. Tom can teach you the basics of rig care. He has been a lifesaver to Rod and I before. www.acrproducts.com and tell him we sent you. Beth p.s. you could also go to McHenry Equipment in Frederick, but since you didn't buy from them, you'll end up at the back of the line.
  22. Politics still, but not gas prices

Wake up! The government is not the real power! The agenda is to subvert the constitution and impose a police state. Have fun with that... Rod!~

If the product you use is not listed in the poll, please include the name of it in the thread when you reply. Thanks! :) Rod~
