I think this is artillery fungus, what do you think?
Beth n Rod replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Never ever guarantee the removal of this fungus. In fact, any little black dots, point them out and let them know that if this is the fungus, they will not come off. That way if it is spider droppings, you look like a champ and if not the expectation has been set. Beth -
I think this is artillery fungus, what do you think?
Beth n Rod replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Also, there is a big difference in pressure from water which is static pressure and dynamic pressure from your hand wiping with a cloth (physical force). Most think that 1500psi is a lot of pressure but it is focused on a very small area. In addition, the waters natural properties are to be cohesive (sticks only to itself) unless adding a component which will make it viscous (thick) and/or adhesive. Oxidation removal for example, you can get a certain amount of the stuff off with chems and water but the best results are achieved with a brush to provide surface agitation and physical pressure. Something to chew on for a while. ;) Rod!~ -

Beth n Rod replied to Lou Beach's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Spider poop looks alot like artillery fungus. If you didn have a small ring left when you removed it, it is highly possible it is from that. Artillery fungus leaves a ring when you do manage to pop it off the siding. Beth -

Electrical in-line dangers
Beth n Rod replied to yazbird8's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Its threads like these that show the diversity of backgrounds we come from. The information each of us brings to this field creates an evolving science and it benefits everyone just the same. Back on topic though, I have always been keenly aware of electricity (younger days accident) and have been very cautious when working around supply lines to a house. The one factor you can count on is that the water coming out of your nozzle is not a consistent bead or stream. Water is cohesive meaning it will only stick to itself but that property is altered by the chemicals already in the water along with those that we add at the time we wash. Unless you are able to make the water viscose (thick) it will act like a bunch of bubbles trying to come out of the same spot and quickly separate into droplets. By the time the droplets hit an electrically active line, they no longer are capable of forming a circuit to the nozzle. Now if you were to touch something that the water has adhered to by frictional bond that is in connection with that line, then you can get a shock. I agree, ladders and extension wands/poles are the biggest threat to electrical shock hazard. Rod!~ -
Favorite House was Mixtures
Beth n Rod replied to Jonathan Chiplock's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I use power house and it has been great on many applications. fwiw; I use 3-1/2 gallons of water in my mix to start with and add my chems to that. The remaining gallon consists of all the other ingredients while 6-7%bleach amounts to about a 1/3-1/2 gallon of the remaining gallon. I don't mix very strong because of the power house. It has the alkalinity range to do most of the work and since it is so concentrated it goes a long way. Rod!~ -

Hail spotting on vinyl siding
Beth n Rod replied to big mike's question in Residential Pressure Washing
The hail removes the surface oxidation creating spots as it reveals the truer color beneath. Removing the oxidation will even out the appearance. Rod!~ -

Rod and I took lessons and we are in awe of the professionals who get to have fun like that for a living. They always make it look so easy. It's not! You have to be in shape and be limber to say the least. Now I want to see a video of Balazs dancing!!! I was bummed the link didn't have a video. Beth

How did you find this? This is wonderful!!!! Beth

If you have a homeowner that wants to clean their deck and not ruin the finish you applied (basic routine maintenance or for spills and such) it is exactly what we suggest using. It's not professional strength but it does have its uses. Beth

Why do people buy on price only?
Beth n Rod replied to SDI's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Here are some of the reasons why people buy from us and this is just to add to the list others have presented which are great. People buy our services because they: 1.) Are physically incapable of doing it themselves 2.) Are unwilling to do it themselves 3.) Do not know how to do it themselves 4.) Do know how but don't have the time to do it themselves 5.) Have the money and would rather pay someone else to do it. Time, personal freedoms, sacrifice, obligations, pride and loss are all part of the reasons supporting variables behind the buying process. -Time is a valuable commodity which in terms of money is what our lives evolve around and what we are trying to save the most of for ourselves. Yes we are trying to save money as well but the time we have not associated with a time-clock are what we prize the most. -Personal freedoms are the result of time saved and wise use of time otherwise proportioned to life's obligations and sacrifices. Personal freedoms represent the accomplishment of a goal we set for ourselves and cannot be measured with time or money but the pleasure we derive from them. -Sacrifice is the action we perform where our time is concerned, giving up a major portion of it in exchange of money. Money we use to buy with. It is at a personal expense that we attain it and it comes with pain to give it up when we buy because we know that we must give up more of our time to replace what we have spent. It's that anguish most people feel when paying all those monthly bills because they subconsciously realize the sacrifices they are making to maintain the status quo they have created for themselves and grown comfortable within. -Obligations come from the predefined agreements we make when buying something (maintenance) and outside pressures to conform to those obligations (H.O.A's etc...) -Pride is in the perception we wish others to have about ourselves in ways which influences what we buy and how often. Those with the money can afford to show it but also may not want to part with much of it. -Loss is the fear supporting the buying we do which in relation to the sacrifice is a significant factor. People fear the loss of value (money), the loss of money (time) and so look for the most they can get with what they buy. They want a return on investment, a reward for their efforts, something that makes them feel good about what they are doing otherwise it can represent a loss in some way however so small...a loss is still a loss. Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
This was posted in another thread and I thought I would copy/paste it here for an example. Another question of what to take seriously when it comes to certifications. How far does this certification go in the mind of a would be consumer? Rod!~ -
