Steve, Are you using any chemicals at all? Beth -
:lgbugeyes MSDS sheets are required in all states. All manufacturers are required to provide them on demand. Any common item you can buy in the store (Clorox bleach for example), you can get an MSDS sheet on. There are resources online as well. We encourage everyone, to make a list of the products they use, to search for the MSDS sheets, print them, and place them in binders of all vehicles and keep an office copy. Beth

Not as easy as it sounds...working over water... There are EPA laws to consider with this job. Beth -
Myths? Pressure washing can be dangerous, when done improperly. It's not a myth, it's a fact. This will (in my opinion) never change. The key is to continue to educate the public. This is one reason we are PWNA members. It helps with regards to this issue. Beth

House washing in the cold
Beth n Rod replied to CLASSICPW's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Mixing alcohols in with a bleach results in a highly volatile state and can be easily ignited just by sunlight. [source; NFPA, NOAA, CAMEO, EPA, NIOSH, et al] Methyl alcohol is also a breathing hazard and should not be used in conjunction with any cleaning solutions other than as labeled. Use hot water or wait till warmer weather. In regards to hot water 115* is the max on vinyl. Most window glass is not tempered and can crack if subject to an extreme temperature rise. Hope this answers your question... Rod~ -
I think this is a product of public education whether it be by other pw'ers or the media it is correct. After speaking with mfr's, they have helped me to understand the mechanics and science behind their different types of siding and all of them warn against high pressure and the imminent effects of it. Not possible effects mind you. The only variable is the different methods of understructure construction and insulation which the siding is covering. You are right to go low pressure and avoid problems in the future. In regards to the lack of response you are experiencing...it is recommended by the mfr that siding be cleaned on a regular basis and specifically to avoid mildew and algae growth which can lead to degradation on the surfaces where it is allowed to occur. I suggest you focus on the side that needs cleaning and see what you can drum up with that angle as you should be able to market educate your customers of the detrimental effects of not doing anything and the methods you employ. Educate an instill consumer confidence. It works. Rod~

House washing in the cold
Beth n Rod replied to CLASSICPW's question in Residential Pressure Washing
You should try it and let us all know before Christmas. If it works, then we can all give our kids a white christmas. As for the house washing, there is no substitute for hot water. You either have it, or you don't, but even when you do you have to be careful. As stated, it's best to wait till the temps go up a few degrees.... Beth -

Premium always. Engines run cleaner and more powerful. Also prohibits carbon buildup and spark plug fowling. Having worked and trained on small engines, I was taught that using high octane fuel always gives better performance and lessens the need for maintenance due to carbon deposits and buildup. I just wish they had the same options for diesel in our area without having to travel to the next county. Kerosene and options for graded diesel fuel are rare in the metro area due to the lack of farming. Regardless of which grade of fuel though, I perform regular checks on the spark plug(s), wiring and filters including the fuel filter. I Clean and gap the plug(s) as needed. .02 Rod~ -

Richard, You should also look at Wood Tux. www.esproducts.net or give Russell Cissell a call. I agree with the comments about CWF-UV and Behr, you should steer clear of those. However, I do not agree with the comments on Sikkens SRD. Beth -
Craig is right. :) Beth p.s. Couldn't hurt, but there is no getting away from the need to educate the consumer. Educating the consumer is an opportunity.

Have not been to Disneyland, but have been to Disney world. Universal Studios is on our list at some point. (Florida) Of course we have lots of places on our list...time to earn the bucks to go see them. Beth p.s. ...when in DC, the air space museum is a must if you are a space buff. For that matter...all the museums in DC are wonderful.

There are some excellent resorts out there. Mexico has many down in the Yucatan area, Mayan Riviera. Never been to Hawaii, but have seen beautiful photos. We do have a PWer from Hawaii on the BBS, maybe he will chime in. I have wondered about French Polynesia too. Never been tho.... did see there is a resort you can stay at, in a cove, where the dolphins are right there and you can go out of your little cabana and swim among them. Beth
