  1. neutralize

Steve, Just for future reference, a poll is based on a question, and the choices represent possible answers to the question, to find out the popular opinion. Hope this helps. You might want to redo this thread to get the info you are looking for...unless you are just asking questions....? Not sure. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/faq.php?faq=vb_read_and_post#faq_vb_poll_explain Beth p.s. Yes, citralic acid, on all wood types.
  2. Expert advice needed

If you use high octane gas and change the oil regularly (twice a season on the engine and once a season on the pump) you should not have much need for maintenance for the first year or two seeing that the unit has a Honda engine and a Cat pump. These two in combination have proved to be very durable but keep in mind more expensive to repair than units with lesser quality pumps. Regular belt tensioning and replacement will also be a key maintenance check for you. If you dont already have a background, learn all you can about small engine repair and pump maintenance in the interim to help you save money and maximize your units life. The unit your link shows should give you a good amount of service and bring a good return on the investment. Rod~
  3. Exactly! I concur with this from experience as we had a couple of decks to finish up this season and the temps barely reached into the upper 40's. The stain still curred in the 2 hour time frame as we noticed from adding about 16oz/gal to the stain to make it thin enough to spray through a pump up on the cold days. It worked really well and the end result was still very much like the deck and fence we had done earlier that year across the way in a townhouse community. The very ones that got us the job in the first place. I hope this helps others in the low temp pinch at the end of their season. Rod~
  4. We used PVC fittings which work quite well. The nice thing about them is if you use the slip fittings and just apply pvc glue (wear a respirator when using this stuff!) and slide the pieces together and hold for a minute, then install. I would include pics but the connection is currently under a custom made box with a drawer I built to cover the plumbing and provide useful storage space in the location. Rod~
  5. When and where do you vacation?

Disney east, or west? Try east if you have not. Universal is right there too....and it's not far from Cape Canaveral. Short drive.... Beth
  6. When and where do you vacation?

It's getting to be slow season for many....thought it might be a good time to revive this thread and see what plans folks have? Beth
  7. I agree with Russ. Next question is.... What's the exposure of the decks? North, south, east, or west? If Northern, you may have a hard time getting the wood to the right temp. If southern with full sun, you might catch a break. Exposure can matter. Beth
  8. Do you have Harry Potter fans in your house?

I thought that was you....we were also at the 11:50 showing. You were down in front. In my opinion, the moving needed to be longer, there was so much of the book that was left out. Still a great movie. Some really cool special effects. Beth
  9. Do you have Harry Potter fans in your house?

Henry, It's in 3 theatres in G-Town, 6 showings before 6pm. Three around lunch, three in the late afternoon. Celeste, you really need to read the books to do the story justice. They are packed full of little wonderful details that the movie would only have, if Peter Jackson were directing it. Beth
  10. Do you have Harry Potter fans in your house?

Did you read the books? I don't see how they will get all the best parts of the book into 2 1/2 hours. I'm one of those fans who wishes it was a 3 hour movie. Can't wait to see it tomorrow. I can't wait for the next one! Heck, I can't wait for this one to release to DVD. Beth
  11. Do you have Harry Potter fans in your house?

Has anyone seen the 4th movie yet? We're going tomorrow to see it. Beth

  19. .20 - .50 cents/sqft. Depends on your area and the services required. We add windows as a line item. Carpet cleaning beyond vacuuming is another line item. Dont forget travel time too as a line item. Manlifts and sissor lifts are another line item. Tile and grout sealing is a line item too. Applying stainless steel polish in some cases depending upon how large the job is can be added as a line item provided a preliminary health inspection would allow it...inquire before doing this. Rod~

  25. I hate to ask this quesion Philip, but was it a ready seal deck? I have seen this product come off with a bleach house wash solution. Just a curiosity question. TWP has only been around for a few years here. The majority of jobs we wash houses on involves a deck that has already seen the best of its stain life and is in need of maintenance. Rarely do we get a deck that has been recently sealed (other than the relative few we have done in spite of warnings to the client of the potential downsides to having the process performed after the deck was completed) that requires a measure of protection beyond prewetting and neutralization. You probably have a plan in mind to rectify the situation, but let us know how it turns out. Racechaser, A percarb could cause the same problem as it has a high pH. Unfortunately use of this material in house washing can cause problems with windows by leaving a difficult to remove haze on the glass. If this happens, the cause is the cure believe it or not. Been there... Rod~
