We're getting rain up here, but we also use quite a bit of Wood Tux. Beth -
Staining
Beth n Rod replied to Degraffreed's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We have been using Wood Tux for three years now. Two of these years were with the original formula and then this year with the Wet formula. The first release of Wood Tux Wet was thick, and needed thinning if you were not brushing it on. Extreme Solutions just released the thinner version (same viscosity as the original Wood Tux which is very thin) of Wood Tux Wet, which will make spraying a breeze. Maintenance has been 2 years on the horizontals, and has been a breeze. Just washed a house where we did the deck two years ago, and the client is waiting one more season on the deck for maintenance - so it will be three years (full sun deck) before they get the horizontals done. Deck was done with Wood Tux Western Cedar, and still looks great. Hope this helps. Beth Beth -
Dead Beat or slow pay customers...How do you deal with them?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Always make sure to check your state law to determine what you are allowed to ask for regarding down payment. For example, in Maryland you are allowed to ask for up to 1/3 down before beginning the work. Beth -

Beth n Rod replied to Degraffreed's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
In the shot before cleaning, it appears that leaves may have contributed to what it was you had to work on. Overall, tannin from leaves, pitch, sap, blooms, berries, etc. can stain and darken a deck inthe areas where they lay. It's something we run across regularly and have to deal with as we clean. Areas effected by mature tree growth (and this varies depending on the kinds of trees too) can make for a problematic deck. Educate the home owner as to how to avoid problems between cleaning, such as sweeping or blowing off the deck regularly. It will make your job next time easier, and keep the deck looking better longer between visits....and you would be amazed how many people ignore the debris on the deck - the majority of them. Hope this helps. Beth -

Given what you have just said, seems to me the difference would be the wood. Beth -

Just curious.... How many check your client's credit, and if you do is there a certain job size (dollar wise) you do this with routinely? Beth -
Dead Beat or slow pay customers...How do you deal with them?

How would you handle it for example, if a customer agreed to pay you when the service was rendered, and when you finished they didn't and avoided you? You had verbal agreement that the job was satisfactory... Beth -

Degraffreed You mentioned the floor in the other thread...I see shadows here...are trees growing over this deck? Where are the leaves, twigs, etc. going to land? You might have issues related to trees here. Beth -
First Fence cleaning
Beth n Rod replied to Degraffreed's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Possibilities.... Deck boards in the middle could have been a different age... Also sometimes you will just get boards that are cut different and look diffent as a result (see fence for a good example of that - sometimes it's just the wood)... Possible also is that there is a remnant of something on those boards... what did you strip? As Shane said it is hard to tell at that angle. Got a close up of the floor? Beth :cup: :groovy2: p.s. Looks geat!!! :dancing:  -

deck pic question?
Beth n Rod replied to a68cudas's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
In whatever application you are using when you edit you image, look for a feature that says something along the lines of resize image/ Modify image size something like that. Then you want to reduce the size ( in inches if you can, especially if you are not used to doing this in pixels) and if the resulution is real high, lower it to between 75 and 150. This should solve your problem. As a rule a 6 x 4.5 inch photo at 75 DPI will upload here just fine. Hope this helps... Beth -

Beth n Rod replied to John T's question in Residential Pressure Washing
$12,200.00 and the reserve has not been met which means the going price could be at least twice as high and thats a lot of mula to come up with at this time of year as the season winds down. Nice rig but whew! Overkill to the max and the thing only heats water up to 130*? With 2 burners no less...someone is trying to impress someone with their set up designs. Hey John, where you gonna park it if you get it? Aren't those other vehicles of yours taking up all the space? ;) Good Luck on the bidding! Rod~ -
just got my new rig correction my first rig
Beth n Rod replied to Steve Moore's question in Residential Pressure Washing
The anticipation of using a new rig is pretty strong and I bet you are just itching to put it to use. My little piece of advice is...change the oil and filters often! Welcome to the next level of pw'ing. Rod~ -
That's cool to know... If you are a one man show, no hired help, you may not need it at all. You can be incorporated and a one man show and not need it. However, if you have help, employees, you should check your state requirements, and in my opinion cover those who work for you. Beth
