  1. Best coffee?

What I don't get, are those hard as rocks biscotti things. If I have to dunk something, it's not a biscotti. Beth
  2. Crawfish season is in!!!

Great pic! Nothing like sitting outside, table covered with plastic followed by layers of newspaper, ice cold beer in hand, eating crawdaddys, shrimp, or cracking crabs! YUM! Beth
  3. Heat Stroke FAQ's

This is important stuff. Before you know it, it will be 90 degrees out there. Be safe all! Beth
  4. We have, but not always. Depends on how hot it is. There is a big difference between an 80 degree day, partial sun on the deck and a full sun deck at 95 degrees... a deck like that in full sun in the middle of the day can give you heat stroke fast. We look at air temp, humidity, exposure, plant cover, etc. when we decide on that. We also will schedule jobs that are full sun decks for either early or late inthe day, and try to choose those with partial shade or shade for the middle of the day if we can. Wood Tux wet should make it much easier in that regard, since you can cool the boards down if they are hot and dry. Beth :groovy: p.s. if youhave not read about heat stroke and are new, go to the Library Forum and read the article on it. Be safe in the heat. :sunshine:
  5. But it's a reality. We stain in full sun all the time. Beth
  6. Has anyone noticed?

Hey Everett, Care to chime in here? I know I would like to hear your take on this. Beth :groovy3:
  7. Has anyone noticed?

Ken, It makes me want to ask a question... Did the wood fuzz less than it would have with the other tip? Strippers break the bond betweent he wood and the product. So if less pressure is used, it makes me wonder if less fuzzing will occur? (assuming correct dwell time) Beth
  8. Eeewwwww! That was a heck of a visual... We'll have to try the 310... Beth
  9. During the outdoor demo in Las Vegas at the PWNA, HD-80 performed as expected and ripped through 5 coats of Sikkens Cetol Dek, applied as specified by the manufacturer. Rod applied the base coat, then applied 4 coats of the Cetol Dek on top (two more than required, 3 is normal we did 5). EFC-38 also removed Wolman F&P, and Men-Wood with ease. Citralic was used to brighten the wood. A picture is worth a thousand words folks.... Look at THIS. Beth & Rod P.S. there were other vendors with "strippers" in their booths, but we note, none chose to demo their products! HD-80 was the ONLY chemical demoed. ;)
  10. HD-80 melts 5 coats of Sikkens Cetol Dek in Vegas!

Here's the photo that was missing from this thread.
  11. Jon, What's in the 310 that will allow it to remove something like DEK and not be a harsh chem? We're talking about a polymer resin here. Very tough film. Anything that is gonna eat thru is will be pretty caustic I would think. Beth
  12. Nope. Rod didn't boost the HD-80 on that job. I believe it will, since it is a solid stain, yes. Hope this helps. :groovy3: I'll see what Rod has to add when he's back in the office. Beth
  13. Agreed. If you have to knock off fuzzies, you need to let the wood dry. So for a strip job, you would need to apply it dry, for a standard grey deck wash, you can apply wet. This is a really good point! Beth
  14. We have gone through 7 layers of DEK. We demoed going through 5 in public, when we were vendors. HD-80 will do it, but you will need to be: 1. full strength 2. allow LONG dwell time and keep wet with more product. Don't let it dry. 3. be prepared for some sanding. Boost might help here and hang time may as well. HD-80 melts a polymer resin (such as DEK), rather than breaking it as a film and lifting it in chunks if you know what I mean. Call Rod for more details. He's stripped many a DEK deck. We see it frequently here, in fact we just got another DEK strip job yesterday.... Beth p.s. Tony, I think climate has alot to do with it. We're a little warmer here, and our winters are not as much fun as yours - snow wise. We just had a customer move here from CT, and he swears he had never had mildew grow up there at all. Down here it is prolific. Go figure...
  15. "wet" sealers

I suggest the Wood Tux wet. We have used WT for the last two years, this makes our third year with it. We have not used the Cabot's wet product. I understand that the Cabot product is acrylic. Beth
  16. Woo Hoo I got a job!!!

Sharp difference! Keep up the great work! Beth :groovy: :groovy2: :groovy3:
  17. Rain Sucks

  19. deck stain

Strip the deck and apply a semitransparent penetrating oil finish like Wood Tux. Beth :groovy:
  20. Stripper Time

CWF will come off with HD-80. Been there, done that. But paint is a 50/50 shot. Depends on the paint. Do a test spot. Personally, I think there are better things to seal with than CWF.... Try the advanced search feature. Beth
  21. Rain Sucks

You can have our rain too. I am sooooooo ready for the temps to stay up above 75, and no lower than 60 at night. But, at least they are not calling for snow here - I heard north of here they are! I would rather have rain than snow. Beth
