How to get top listing on a search engine
Beth n Rod replied to PressurePros's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Engines are based upon algorythms, and different ones will have different algorythms. The most common element, is that they will all look for how many times a word appears in a document (hit density). Some may look for the proximity of the word to other words in your search as well. What's the Verdict on Wood Tux Wet
Beth n Rod replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Wood Tux can be removed with HD-80. We have done it. Beth -
Paul, I have received quite alot actually. I receive thank you's from folks who I help, and that is the biggest thing. I love to hear success stories. I have gotten awards of recognition from the BOD as well, and those are also appreciated. But I have to say the best part, is the success of others. Beth

Jon, It's not the gun, it's the tip. The tip needs to be the right one for your machine. Look in just about any catalog for a tip (nozzle) chart. Find the GPM on the chart, then go to the PSI you want to drop to on the chart, and in the grid it should tell you what tip size you need. Beth
-
That is for a dual wand system, and you are changing the amount of water going through one gun. If two guns are in use, you split the GPM. If one gun is in use, you get all the GPM's. Hope this helps. Beth

Scott, Rod and I are very sorry to hear of your loss. We have both been through it as well. It will hurt for a long time. Hold on to the sweet and wonderful times, they can get you through some very rough days. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Beth & Rod

What's the Verdict on Wood Tux Wet
Beth n Rod replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Cabot's wet product is an acrylic. Wood Tux wet...is not. Not the same animal. We love Wood Tux, have used it for two years, so this will be year three. The original formula was great. I feel confident this will be too, and I will say it is worth trying. Beth -
Actually, the Vendor Members have higher dues than the Contractor Members do. Also if they have a booth at the trade show, they have booth costs, etc. Also many of the vendors donate items to be raffled off or given away as door prizes. As a former vendor, I can say firsthand, you give, and give and give. What folks need to understand, is that conventions have costs. Hotels are in the business of making money, they sell the room space for both sleeping and meetings, they sell the meals, etc. The PWNA has expenses. This is not new either. We ALL have expenses in business. I can tell you this, as a former BOD member, I went to these conventions, on my own nickle, bought the same convention tickets everyone else did, and was there longer due to BOD required meetings, so add in an extra night or two hotel stay as well. Plus, all face to face meetings were mandatory, and on your own nickle. The point here, is that the BOD gives, and gives, and gives....of time, of money, and of personal energy. The office can not be run for free. People need money to make a living, and offices - all offices - have expenses. In my opinion, $195.00 is not too expensive. Not after what I have seen, first hand. Bingo. If it was flow actuated, you would get the nice build up. I like a flow actuated unloader since I don't like the feeling of ripping off my shoulder. But, the pressure actuated ones (big green spring) last longer. (based on expereince and on what others have said here) Remember that you are getting the same GPM through the tip regardless of the orafice, so it's not like it looks like it is less if you know what I mean, in fact, it may look like more, since more water flows thru.... Beth p.s. I love the soap tip.

Downstreaming- the wave of the future
Beth n Rod replied to PressurePros's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Since we are talking strictly house washing according to the questions, The right tool for the right job is the best answer I can offer. Using a downstream injector on days of 10-15mph+ winds on an extension wand gives you less drift to worry about since the spray is going to be heavier. Otherwise, an M-jet/X-jet is a time saver. Effective levels of chem to the house is determined by the concentration in your bucket to start with. Most of my mix involves surfactants, rinse agents, a foaming agent ( adds dwell time) and about 1/3 gal of bleach to a 3-1/2 gal of water. This gets rid of the mildew and algae along with the dirt and wildlife staining (for lack of a better term). The effects on my equipment is negligable compared to the benefits of completing the job quickly but effectively. Wear and tear is factored into the work. Not always is it necessary to downstream starting at the pump. You can add one on the end of your hose before the gun sparing the hose from exposure for example. There are a few different scenarios for the use of many tools and knowing the difference comes from experience in use and evaluation of the tool under any specific condition to understand its limitations or benefits. Use what you are comfortable with that works best for the conditions you have present at the time. Good questions... Rod~ -
It's my understanding that it is a brand new requirement. Beth
-
Daryl, The x-jet is meant for downstream injection at pressures of 2000 psi or more and will not work with a shurflo set up because the pressure is too low. Instead, put a wand on the end of the hose and go to town. :) Save the x-jet for house washing. my .02 Rod~ Rod~

You should look at a few... Look at the Bad Boy by PressureTek. Look at Steel Eagle. Look at the Whisper Wash. There are many models to choose from, make sure you understand the differences in them before you buy, so you don't limit yourself. Plan for what this equipment needs to do for you , several years down the road, not just today. Beth

Deck Estimate Question
Beth n Rod replied to tropical wave's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I also feel your pricing is in the right range. You have alot of horizontals there. If you had a ton of spindals or lattice, that would be another story. Beth -
Hi Jon, I spent the last two years on the Board of Directors for PWNA. Rod and I have both put in alot of time. I needed to make some changes for a variety of reasons, so I'm not on the BOD anymore. We both still believe in the org and support it's efforts and direction. Ron ********** is around. He's very busy with many things. He's still a member. Mike Hughes I can't say, I have not heard from him in a couple of months. Beth

Everett, It is great seeing you here. Hope we see more of you in the future. I know you're very busy, but I also know you have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to share. Don't be a stranger. Beth :groovy3: p.s. Go find your way into the wood forum.... There are some good threads there that you might enjoy. ;) :sunshine:

I am going to say that everyone needs to respect everyone else's opinions here, and to read carefully what is being said. If you have questions about how to take something, contact the poster. Let's avoid having this escalate to an ugly thread. Let's all keep it nice. Beth

What size can works best for you?
Beth n Rod posted a question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Everyone works a little differently. Some of us have bigger rigs or enclosed trailers, some pickup trucks. Some of us have lots of storage space, some very little. In any event, it seems to have an effect on what we're able to buy. What works best for you? Please vote (you can check off as many as you like) and share any thoughts in the thread. Beth & Rod -
Scott makes an excellent point. Being a member of PWNA is not for all, but may very well help if you join. Being a member has no bearing on if a contractor is licensed, professional, carrying insurance. However, if you feel companies are positioning themselves this way, you are probably right. In fact, being licensed is not an indication of quality either, as it has to do with businesses being legal but doesn't have to do with what you do or how you do it. (job site wise) Being a member of PWNA is similar to being a member of the Better Business Bureau in that you may find consumers will get a little more comfort if you are a member. It might make them feel more at ease with your company. Is it worth it? That's a personal business decision. We may not agree with PWNA all of the time, but we do see benefit in the organization. If I didn't feel it was worth it, I would not have spent two years helping as much as I did. I'm willing to bet that the next 12-24 months you will see some record growth, and very positive things going on. Have a great day all! Beth
