  1. YES. If you get together with other local companies you can save money. Get enough to get a quantity discount and also to bring it in via truck. Trucks will meet you places like grocery store parking lots if you make the arrangements with them and they can't get into your residential area. Take the cost of the freight, divide it by the number of items for example, and you have a per package cost for freight. You can also figure it by the pound, and charge that way if the items vary. Hope this helps. Beth
  2. Cordless Tools

Ours is the makita 3500rpm variable speed with a 5/8 arbor hole with a backing plate. It is listed as a 9" grinder/buffer. Rod~
  3. Favorite Fast Food?

I have seen ads on tv here for them, but when I look them up in the phone book to see where they are, there is no listing. (shucks) Rod~
  4. Bidding wall washing

Breezeway type washes are sweet money. We charge a flat rate. As the number of the increases, we will drop the price per breezeway accordingly. Similar to peice work. if its small, the minimum price should carry. We consider travel time, set up and break down time in our pricing to cover the incidental costs that it takes just to get the job started. sample: 1 - 3 breezeways=39@ 4-6 breezeways=35@ etc. These prices are examples only, your costs may be different depending upon size and nature of the cleaning. Most breezeways are just dusty and will be easy to clean. You may want to factor in the cost of burms for the doors to keep water from getting into the unit if you dont have them already. Rod~

  10. A World meeting for all Powerwashers

Hey everyone, Since there is no information, we should not make assumptions. Lets proceed based on facts. I think this was an excellent idea. It is a great way to create unity in the industry. A vendor was even willing to contribute to the sponsorship of the event. There was an opportunity for all to benefit and pwna would have benefitted right along with it. The concept I think was favorable if based on neutral ground which is how the round tables originally came into being and is why they are popular today. John took it to a larger scale. Proceeds from this type of an event could have been divided up between the various contributors after the costs of the meeting were paid. (<--just an idea) Pwna could have made money on it too. It is a great way to bridge the gap and give people the opportunity to see in mass what a convention is like and they in turn may have even wanted to either go to the next one as well or possibly even join the pwna. There are a world of possibilities. Many people have contributed ideas to this thread and the response has been overwhelmingly positive with the exception of where to have it. (cant please everyone I guess...) Meanwhile, I for one hope that for what ever reason this idea was taken away from TGS members to participate in could be changed. It would not detract from the current convention because it would most likely involve many who cannot afford to go or are not able to during the time slot as it stands. The world meeting would have been more affordable to many people and could have been a platform for creating awareness of the pwna. I think we should find a way to move forward with this. Rod~

You can select as many choices for this poll as you wish. If there is a topic you don't seelisted, please add it to the thread. Thanks! Beth & Rod :corn:

  14. Gloves??

The wood boot camp taught me a lot and helped me to understand more in less time than I would have otherwise. It was a summer of trial and error with no BBS for support in our first year. Fortunately, I did more right than wrong. But it helped me to understand chems and wood in a different way and how to work with them. The rest is practice and evaluation. The class paid for itself in the time I saved. Rod~
  15. Cordless Tools

Mike This is what I found... http://www.abccatalog.com/store/viewitem.asp?idproduct=2887734099 Don Phelps turned me on to this site, they have some decent prices. Rod~
  16. Fall protection gear

We are looking into more gear this year (sorry about the phonetics) and would like to ask those who use this type of gear where they like to purchase and what works best for their operation. The harnesses and fall arrestors or limiters are so different from each other that it is hard to tell what would work best. We are going to be using it mainly for log home restoration work and are looking for some feedback. Thanks in advance. Rod~
  17. Fall protection gear

I thank you for your responses. The prices are certainly lower than the catalogs I have been looking in recently. DC direct safety has these listed for 40-60% higher than the sites submitted by Don and Ryan. Thanks :) Networking helps. Rod~
  18. Best coffee?

We are lucky...our local Safeway has a Starbucks in it, and the have "club starbucks" where every 7 cups of coffee you get a free cup. The also had a promo this winter where with every 50 dollar purchase you got a free cup of coffee. Well between buying groceries in and the club starbuck, I didn't pay for coffee for like two months. Of course that isn't saying much, the only time I drank the coffee was when I got a free coupon at the checkout counter. Beth
  19. Favorite Fast Food?

Of course in the fall when you pick those last green tomatoes before the frost, you have to make a batch of ... you've got it...fried green tomatoes! Yum! Beth

  21. A World meeting for all Powerwashers

I can fully understand why the PWNA might not have liked the post, although I do not know one way or the other, more of a guess since the idea is gone. But, we all read it, we know what the concept is, and we can make it happen ourselves. I hope John does too, but if he doesn't I do want him to know he is still VERY VERY VERY welcome here, regardless of his decision to pull the idea. I'm sure he had good reason. Beth
  22. A World meeting for all Powerwashers

John T. had a great idea, and for whatever reason he deleted it today. It was a great idea, and had many positive responses. It would be awesome to see it happen. The gist of it was to get all the folks from various BBS's together and also the PWNA. A mammoth round table! Beth
