If you are able to accept CC's by phone, be sure that on the invoice you mark it clearly "Phone Order" and attach a receipt or mail later. We always make sure the client has a copy of the invoice once the job is done. Btw, make sure to get a signature before you begin work. Operating without an agreement in place is asking for someone to take advantage of you. Rod~

One thing I commented on in the pwnabbs I will add here for the benefit of those who struggle with belittling comments. Dont take it personal! If you do, you only give it the fire to harm you and thats the persons intention. Let it go and understand that other peoples perspectives are just that...theirs! You are you and you are the best YOU you can be! thats good enough for me. :lgbow: Rod~

Mike, We know how you feel. We started with a used, refurbished pressure washer and a Nissan Sentra. Stuck the PW'er in the trunk. Rod was by no means in it for beer money, and the equipment grew over time. It takes time. Never be ashamed of your beginning. Be proud you took the plunge! Just my .02 Beth

Lots of us are in the slower months now. I wonder how many of us take the time to do those much needed chores and home improvement projects in the off season? We are remodeling a bathroom now. I should have gotten a before shot. Rod has ripped up all the old ceramic tile, and ripped out the old cabinet (it had linoleum under it). New tile and a new cabinet are going in. I'll decide tomorrow about the wallpaper.... I'll put up an after shot when he's done. What's on your Honey - Do list? The rest of the house...is still on our list.... Beth :groovy: p.s. photo of Rod removed...exchanged for one that shows more of the work area....

Home improvement projects and the Honey - Do list...
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Here's a sample of what torn paper looks like...kind of like broken slate or cobblestone... Takes longer to hang the paper since you have to tear it and place the pieces. It's fun! Beth -

I have not done decoupoge (sp?) since I was little. I took and art & craft course with my mom and did some of it. It was a blast. Time to work on the bathroom. We did end up getting the paper for to create the torn effect. Beth -
What kind of wand is this?
Beth n Rod replied to Mike's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Looks like a Karcher KEW style gun. I agree its designed for hot and/or steam applications. Rod~ -

You might be able to use that to apply chems or sealer (lower PSI)....I'm not sure I would pitch it. Worth testing with water if you have a shurflo set up. Beth -
It was Celeste's idea....

I'm thinking of torn wallpaper for in the bathroom. Have you seen the rolls where you tear hunks and put it on the walls? It's pretty cool. Beth -

Celeste, There are many French Maids outfits listed on ebay. This one seemed the most functional, since it comes with a feather duster, so one can get some work done... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=45279&item=5349707934&rd=1 Beth

Can't you just see a homeowner out there with a hose and sprayer attachment with this stuff and they don't cover the flowers the wife just planted... I can see that.... EEESH! (not to mention they don't wash the fence) Beth -
Doe this mean we are retired while we are sleeping or stopping to eat a meal? If we take kids to the movies are we retired while we do it? Or is it just time off.... Thing I love about the slower months, is you get to shift your focus and do things you might not have time to do during the peak season. Beth

What is the difference between an entrepreneur and a leader?

As business owners, you could say we are all entrepreneurs. As business owners, you could also say we are leaders. How are the two different? Beth -
What is the difference between an entrepreneur and a leader?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
One thing is for sure. We have all had our tribulations in our efforts to be either one in our business'. I am sure we have learned much in the process, but more has yet to be discovered. What else can we discern from the differences between Successful Leaders and Entrepreneuers? Or should we now look at what they have in common? Self motivation-Ability to motivate oneself towards a specific goal or objective. Self actualization-Full realization of ones needs. Goal acheivers-Sets, commits to, and acheives goals. Evaluation-Observation to assess effectiveness and/or efficiency relative to desired outcome. Results oriented-Assures that efforts applied are measured steps towards attaining specific goals. Planning-create or devise a project towards a specific purpose. Vision-Seeing beyond current endeavors towards future outcomes. Desire for success-A strong need to achieve a status or result. Self-Organization-Self structuring and discipline. Focus-Concentrated effort in pursuit of objectives. Research-Further education in specific areas relative to the project. Resourcefulness-Ability to deal promptly and effectively with problems or difficulties. Among these traits the two share are some of the makings of great business people. As an insight into yourself, ask yourself which of these traits you posess and which you do not? The answer is for you only. Rod~ -

Bling! yes, 120v burner. We also have a 12v burner. Not had any problems with either of them but was concerned that the battery was getting alot of wear. 120v systems are great if you also need to plug in for lighting at night. Rod~ -

Ryan, If the house you choose doesn't have a deck yet, avoid trex, and consider Ipe or PT lumber. If it does have a deck, inspect it carefully. If it is painted, run. Start with a fresh slate, not someone's disaster. Just my opinion... Beth -
