Now I have seen EVERYTHING. Check THIS service out!
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
They even give gift certificates and specify the events that call for a gift certificate. One of them is for (ready for this one?) Valentines Day! :rotfl: Could you imagine giving your loved one 'a super dooper pooper scooper certificate' on Valentines Day? Here honey, heres a gift certificate so you dont have to scoop the poop this month! :fido2: They even leave a Big yellow door knob hanger letting you know (and everyone else in the neighborhood) that they came to scoop the poop!:fido: Rod~ -

Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Good question, and good question. I would think they have to dispose of it properly. Really makes you think about recapturing huh... There is even an association for them. But really, what man in his right mind would get the wife or girlfriend, much less mom on Mother's day a gift certificate to have feces removed from her yard. So thoughtful...so personal...and it says soooo much... But it sure is funny, and one heck of a niche. And there must be a market, heck, they were working in our neighborhood. Beth -
That is cute. :) I wonder if there is a Husband 1.0 tech support note out there somewhere? ;) Beth

Seal Maxx
Beth n Rod replied to reed's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
My question is this...how easy is it to remove? Somewhere sometime, a homeowner will buy a home with it installed and will want it gone. Beth  -
Does everybody start out as a "lowballer"?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
It seems to me, that priot to all the BBS's on the net, it might have been harder to avoid than it is today perhaps. More and more people are turning to the internet as a means of research. However there are alot of people who never go onto the internet. Those are the folks that have the most trouble determining what price to charge to be in the ballpark of others (in my opinion). If you have no idea of what others are charging, and you are a new startup with lower entry costs, it can be hard to know what to charge. Also I have heard people comment on the need for work and that they were new and didn't have the confidence to charge more, due to a lack of experience. Beth -
Leaking swivel fittings
Beth n Rod replied to VanDiesel99's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
What Tony said is also very true. We have both types of unloaders on different machines, and Rod has found a use for both and sometimes uses one machine over the other due to the unloader. Beth -
Also, percarbs have a shelf life of up to 6 months in most cases. Moisture is it's biggest enemy. Be aware of products that contain an oxidizer. This will also degrade the product if not kept in an air tight container. It is activated by oxygen as jim had mentioned and exhausts the products power while still in the container. Rod~

Up to 26% draw. And functionable on lengths of up to 500' of hose. Rod~

Leaking swivel fittings
Beth n Rod replied to VanDiesel99's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Another thing to consider is your unloader. If you are using a pressure actuated unloader which keeps the line at full pressure even when the trigger is released, it tends to wear out these types of swivels which creates the need for replacement more often. I have found that flow actuated unloaders are easier on hoses and their components because the line pressure drops to near zero when the trigger is released. I am not suggesting that you change unloaders to avoid this problem, but to consider the culprit and why you may need to replace the swivels more often. I hope this helps... Rod~ -
Good point CarolinaProWash, In light of a similar situation, I was washing a 2nd story deck with a privacy fence around it (6 foot high with lattice on top) and no access except by ladder (2 of them) 1 extension ladder to get up to the deck and the other a 12' mutlifold ladder to get down and up out of the deck. I was washing the outside lattice from the inside and sprayed towards the extension ladder leaning against the outside of the deck and it was blown over by the force of water. Gee...what a predicament! Ok, I have the other one, I straightened it out to form a straight ladder and tried to set it down on the outside to get down and restand the other (fully intending to bungie it in place afterwards) but the ladder was too short to reach the ground. About 5 feet to short. So I tried to drop it into place but guess what, It fell over as well in the process. Ok, now I am stuck up on a deck, no one home, and no way to get down. (All I could do was hope that the neighbors in the townhouse community were not home to see any of this or my next maneuver.) I climbed outside the fence of the deck and stood on the support beam that runs horizontally under the deck that protrudes on the side about a foot, and slowly started to shimmey my way down the support post. In retrospect, I could have used the hose as a rope and lowered the ladder to the ground with it instead. But who is to say that I wouldnt have fallen from trying to get to the 2nd ladder to begin with. I could not insure that it would have been completely stable from atop the deck. I made it with out injury but the point is here, humiliation is a good teacher and ladders are not very reliable unless you take precautions to avoid situations like this. I hope this post will help others out there to understand the importance of securing a ladder. Rod~

shur-flo and flojet users
Beth n Rod replied to Christopher's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Hi Chris, We use a shur-flo in our applications and as you may know, we use HD-80 which is highly caustic. The viton valves and santoprene diaphram in our unit have held up for several years of use and the components have not been changed. I do not know what valves or diaphram is in your unit, but a few hours would not be of any consequence from our experience. They are tough pumps! Rod~ -
Tiered Housewash Pricing?
Beth n Rod replied to PressurePros's question in Residential Pressure Washing
In a word? Yes. People do this now with deck care. Many will price out two or three option for the owner, such as offering a lower end sealer, or offering a higher end sealer. I once saw a compeditor's sheet and it had three choices and they were so bold as to say on the first two that they washed only with water and high pressure, then brightened with oxylic, and in the description were the words "will cause damage". Only the high priced option didn't use those words. Gee, which one were they pushing? But to get back on track you can do what you are asking about (without the colorful verbiage) and you will probably win more business by doing so. :lgmoneyey Beth -
I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a hack that will allow me to hide some profile info and leave other info such as location. So far there is not one that will do it. Keep in mind this is php based and the software it must be compatible with is vbulletin in this version, and also they database type is important. I'll keeping looking at the new hack releases. Beth p.s. if you want to make something, you are welcome to do it, but you might want check on compatibility before you spend time on it. It would be frustrating to have a great thing not work...

What chat topics do YOU want to see scheduled?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Well, if you were in to hoods, it wouldn't seem like a silly question. Your hoses can get really nasty. We have learned to clean them as we roll them so as to avoid having greasy hoses. ;) Hope to see you all on the Wednesday chat. Beth -
What chat topics do YOU want to see scheduled?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Henry... Hose or house? All... Let's go for Wednesdays at 9pm eastern. Open topic. Starting on Dec. 8th... Beth -
Espec sells them. Called a Chem Spider. I've got one with 2 of 3 ports fitted with injectors. (2 stage) They have a ceramic ball in them for those who use bleach or acids. If you use them both at the same time, it increases the draw of course. My best use is just before the 24' extention wand for downstreaming onto high areas like chimneys at four and a half stories. The injectors can be adjusted on the fly and with QC fittings gives flexability in use and weight on the wand. Rod~

Things I wish I could have said.... Contractor-Is that my best price? You're kidding right? Actually, no its not my best price, I could add a few hundred bucks and that would be my best price. Customer-Can you do anything about lowering the price? Contractor-Sure! I could lower the quality of the work! Customer-Is it going to hurt any of my plants? Contractor-Actually ma'am, were going to probably kill every one of them, but do I get a bonus if any are left alive? Customer-Are you going to clean the bird poop off before you seal it? Contractor-Did you see which one did it so we can bill it? Customer-I am looking for a sealer that will last for 5 years. Contractor-Ok, here, just dont open the can till 2009! Customer-You do good job, I tell neighbors. Contractor-Dont bother, they will see it anyway. Customer-I dont like the color. Contractor-Then why did you pick it? Customer-Will power washing take away the splinters? Contractor-No, but I can make sure theres alot more! Customer-What happens if it rains? Contractor-Everything gets...wet. Something I actually did say... Customer-"It leaves a mark when I do this" (taking a fingernail and deliberately scratching the not yet cured coating) Contractor- "Then, dont do it!" Rod~ Special thanks to K.J. for the smilies, these are a riot!
