So tell us, what is the toughest thing you have come across that you have had trouble removing? Please post the product types and names here, and if you have photos throw them up. What's the toughest thing to remove?
Beth n Rod replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I can't resist... Exorcise them! Personally....we are not wild about paint. Some types of paint are a challenge we could do without. Mystery decks come to mind...like you take on a stripping job and there is a solid stain over a solid PAINT and one come off but the other doesn't, and it s 3K sq. ft. deck.... I hate it when that happens. Beth -
Hey Ron, Just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. :biggringi :golf: :bandplay: :bday:  Do something fun today! Beth :groovy:

I have thought about upgrading our artificial to a prelit artificial...how do you like that prelit tree?

These are some great responses. Sounds like many of us have had a bad day with a ladder at some point in our work. The solutions to them seemed to be more common sense and the thought "Duh! I should have known that would happen" which I'm sure many can relate to. How does OSHA play a role in your business regarding ladders? Do you have the safety gear? What works best and/or costs are worth the investments? Exploring the answers to these questions may give us some further insight. Next! :) Rod~

Did you know that if you do something for free, and it is damaged in the process, you are liable for it as if you were paid to do it in the first place? It's true. Food for thought. Beth :groovy2:

Henry has got a point. I have seen houses with lousy insulation and the snow melts off the roofs quicker than those around them with better insulation. These are typically the ones we have calls on to remove the ice dams. Another contributing factor is periodic rain that melts the snow and then overnight freezing temps. Improperly installed gutters without adequate drainage angle or drooping. The water that pools inside freezes overnite and can then be added to by additional precipitation with freezing temps soon to follow. Other than this, clogged gutters are another cause as mentioned above. Rod~

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure the Convention Committee will do their best to put together a schedule that has something for everyone. I do know they greatly appreciate feedback such as this. Beth

We atteended our first convention in October of 1999. We had begun to do business the beginning of that year. That October we learned what we were doing right, what we were doing wrong, and how to better proceed. If anyone thinks they learn alot on these BBS's, well, in our expereince what you learn at the convention is far greater than what you learn here. The networking, the information sharing, the advice from those who are seasoned and successful, the brainstorming and idea sharing, it's all wonderful. It's like being dropped into a think tank for a few days. Also we never rent a car, since airport shuttles are available for a low cost and with all the activities you rarely go far from the hotel. Hope this helps. Beth

Jon it's great seeing you here again. Keep following the Dr.'s orders. It may not be the most fun you ever had, but it will be worth it in the end. Our very best to you, Beth & Rod

Keep your hands warm, dry and clean (a tip for newbies)
Beth n Rod replied to Craig's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Craig has a good tip here...We use nitrile gloves under our regular gloves like either jersey gloves or work gloves. When your hands dont actually get wet, they feel cold but dont suffer from exposure to the moisture which is the biggest problem. It actually fills your skins pores and then becomes colder and colder as you work soon reaching freezing temps. As It does, so does your skin. When your skin is dry, its easier to warm up. We also use warm or hot water so this helps as well. Great tip! Rod~ -

Then again, I have met some very wealthy people who don't really want to spend on upkeep and seem to feel that any amount of money is too much money (not all, just some). Sometimes those with less to spend, spend more on certain items. Look at income vs. charitable donations. It may not be the same thing, but to make the point...people who can least afford to give often give more than those who can afford to give. Go figure... Beth
