Question for you wood pros
Beth n Rod replied to PressurePros's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Which Cabot product were you applying? Solid stain, semi-solid, or semi-transparent? Many things can be sprayed. If you are aplying a product that has to be applied by brush or pad due to the viscosity, raise the rates you charge. Application type is always a factor in time spent on the job site. Hope this helps. Beth p.s. Henry, 900 is not unheard of as a regular price for a townhouse deck. There are alot of decks around here that need what you described as a standard, and the price is fair and reasonable. -
Just reregister. You should be fine after that. Beth :cup:

Jon, Anything I can help with? Russ is out of town and will be for a couple of weeks. He's probably not aware his site is down either. Beth -

You're in Texas? Go visit Larry Hinckley at Delco and tell him Beth & Rod sent you. They have resonably priced equipment and offer leasing options. I wouldn't spend all you have banked on the equipment - you will have no operating capital if you do. Leasing will afford you new equipment. Also get yourself an accountant and set up your corporate structure. Think s Corp, C Corp, or LLC. Depending on how you set yourself up, the accountant will be able to advise you on a lease program that will allow you the best depreciation. We use the dollar buy out option for our needs. Even if this is greek to you now, it won't be to the accountant or the leasing company.

Henry, She's going to be in a Disney parade? What a cool expereince! Fun! We are thinking about taking the Disney cruise on the Big Red Boat this year and adding on the land package to Disney World while we are there. Beth

Historic Restoration Project
Beth n Rod replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Celeste, Start the thread. We should all learn this stuff, if for no other reason than to know what we are looking at so we don't get ourselves into a dangerous pickle by accident. I can see how someone could simply not know about it. Beth -

Smart decision. We would have passed on it too with a positive lead test. Beth -
Sure :) glad to share it. I honestly do not know if they have a 4 wheel drive model. Ours is not. One of the pickups has a Hydrotek in the bed too, but the other doesn't. We also have spare cold units we can add to any one of the units. The Sprinter has plumbing to add a second machine off of the supply tank, so we can run three wands. Around here the winters can be cold enough that we need to have at least one truck with a unit enclosed in it since we added Kitchen Exhausts and those are done at night in the cold. If we were a mild weather state in the winter, we might have done it differently. Anyway, if you have a backup unit (or a couple in our case) then if the truck is in the shop it is not an issue. Best thing I can say, is consider various scenarios when you plan your fleet, and whatever decision you come to should make sense for your plans for future business. Think of weather, job types, machine care, etc. It's all important. For example our machine is mounted in the Sprinter in a way we can easily access areas for service and routine care, as well as ventilation. Beth p.s. http://www.fl-sprinter.com/Cargo/cargo.html

Historic Restoration Project
Beth n Rod replied to Celeste's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Celeste, Give us a shout if we can help in any way - heck, call anyway. We have never removed lead paint, but have stripped many things from wood. As far as lifts, 60' articulated boom is the way we would go. As far as price... depends on if we are talking about lead paint I think. Beth -
Agreed! Yes they are. Beth

Nice to meet a fellow Sprinter lover! :) There is another pwing company here in MD using one, and also a cleaning company - carpets and windows and janitorial stuff... not to mention the florist/nurserys (height advanatage for tree transportation) and the Fedex and UPS are using them too. We priced the most heavy duty largest (longest) body Chevy van at the same time we got this, and the difference was not double. In fact, it was only a few K difference. Also we LOVE the skip payment option. With freightliner, you can skip three payments a year. We skip December, January, February....it doesn't do anything to your payments (no hidden extra costs). You simply have the other three months spread over the months when you are paying. VERY nice. Anyone who is looking for a truck should go and look at one of these, and think really long and hard about the differences. We ended up making a pros and cons list on the trucks we were comparing. Beth p.s. we also own a Ford Ranger and a Chevy S-10

Sprinter Van, hands down. It's made by Freightliner. Mercedes-Benz diesel engine. Plenty of room to mount equipment, goes easy on the fuel, superior milage, and an engine that will outlast just about anything. We love ours. Beth

Hey Robert what is the stripper that takes paint with ease? We would be interested in knowing too. :) Celeste, the number you threw at me on the phone last night is way too low. Post some more photos today. Just from what I see, I think you're at least at 3 times what you think. If you bill hourly, make sue to multiply that number by the number of people on the job site. If that is lead paint, you will need special gear to wear, and also you have to capture it and dispose of it. This is the kind of project that can make or break you. Paint is a pain in the butt and usually take alot longer than a standard strip job. Be really careful how you bid this. Good luck! :) Hope you get it...if you want it! Beth
