  1. PWNA Boot Camps-Chicago Area 11/06,11/07

These are great classes. We have attended both. :) Beth
  2. If mildew, clean the trex with bleach. If you are looking at overall tannin bleed from the compostition of the trex, apply acid (citric, oxylic, or citralic) and wash. Acid removed the black tannin bleed. Beth

Which school was your polling place? Ours was Kingsview. We were there from 9 till 10:30 or so. That part of the alphabet for "B" was a breeze. The section with "R" was where the bottleneck was. The alphabet was not divided well at the end.
  4. Zapped

Then again, the polls opened late here online and we didn't have as much voter turnout, probably due to the long lines in our own home towns. We waited an hour and a half here in Germantown.
  5. Zapped

That's ok. :) I think it's important to learn the features you have at your disposal. Besides, the poll was timely. ;) Beth
  6. Full time or part time?

It really is crazy here. Some of the single family homes in our area, you can reach out the window and practically touch your neighbors home. Some seem less than 24 feet apart. I say this because washing between the homes can be tricky if you have a need to use and extension pole for something stubborn. Luckily, most of these sardine homes are new and the siding needs little more than a rinse. The traffic here is awful. The number of condos and townhome communities and even the smaller lot sizes on single family homes has made it a nightmare. Also our planners never allow enough parking anywhere. Some of the malls could really use more parking. And they just keep building.... In our area we can work and stay within 15 minutes of home easily. We are lucky. We travel but are selective about the projects. Those builders and planners who have over crowded our area have helped contractors here - probably not on purpose either. Beth
  7. Full time or part time?

I love the census data. You can gleen so much from it. Glad to share it. :) If you look at Montgomery County, we have so much in our area it's wonderful - very dense population. A number of the other counties look good too. Some of the smaller ones you really don't hear much about. For such a small state, we sure have alot of counties. :groovy3:
  8. Full time or part time?

Actually, when you use something like what Charlie used, you are required to add the source materials and copyright protection info. Otherwise, you end up plagarizing someone's work. It's far better to list the infomration he did, than to not list it and lead others to think it is yours. Beth p.s. Maryland is pretty big considering it's size. Population, 2003 estimate Allegany County 73,668 Anne Arundel County 506,620 Baltimore County 777,184 Calvert County 84,110 Caroline County 30,861 Carroll County 163,207 Cecil County 92,746 Charles County 133,049 Dorchester County 30,612 Frederick County 213,662 Garrett County 30,049 Harford County 232,175 Howard County 264,265 Kent County 19,680 Montgomery County 918,881 Prince George's County 838,716 Queen Anne's County 44,108 St. Mary's County 92,754 Somerset County 25,447 Talbot County 34,670 Washington County 136,796 Wicomico County 87,375 Worcester County 49,604 Baltimore City 628,670 Maryland Total 5,508,909

I was wondering the same thing....
  10. Zapped

I just discovered this TGS poll. Don't forget to vote today at your local registered polling place. Beth
  11. Full time or part time?

But let's not assume Charlie broke any laws... For all we know he did contact them and get an OK to post. I would think that it's as simple as an email from the author. Thanks...... Beth :groovy3:
  12. Vines on Brick

I use bleach to get the vines to come off. It helps to break downs the fibers in the wood of the vines (just like in paper mills) and the vines attachments let go of the surface easier. Rod~
  13. How Much For A Franchise?

Speak to a lawyer who specifically handles franchise transactions. An Accountant is important, but in this instance, a lawyer could save you money and nightmares. Just my .02.... Beth
  14. Concerning the use of Bleach?

    Henry, Well put! :groovy3: Beth
  15. Concerning the use of Bleach?

Henry, It's been nice seeing alot of the aluminum replaced with vinyl around here. :groovy: We don't like aluminum either. We wash it, but we're really carefull about what we say we are able to do and how we wash it. You're right. The old siding that has been washed incorrectly over time or neglected can look alot different after a washing. For example, on the sunny side of a home, you may see a darker color under the overhang from the piece above it, and then becoming more faded as it is in direct sun. Ick. Beth :groovy3:
  16. Concerning the use of Bleach?

http://www.forp.usp.br/restauradora/soda/sodaingl.html The site referrenced above did a study on the amount of chlorine loss under certain conditions. As you can see, it has a pretty good duration, but these bottles were also kept shut air tight. Given that chlorine is the desired ingredient, at about 3% or less it becomes a low grade oxidizer unsuitable for contractor uses, but still somewhat usefull for the average homeowner who doesnt need the same concentrations as a contractor does. 12-15% chlorine stock should last anyone in the biz long enough to use it all. BTW...keep a lid on it Caustic soda is added to give it alonger shelf life, check to see what you are getting before buying. Any feed back? Rod~
  17. Concerning the use of Bleach?

It also contains sodium hydroxide. Works well for helping to remove oxidation from siding. Rod~

I can look for it and send it to when I find it. :) Beth
  19. estimating Sheet

I am hoping we can redirect the energy in this thread. Anyone who wants to help, there are certainly people here who are asking for samples. The people here need help. If anyone has info they are willing to share this is a great time to jump in and help. Beth :groovy:
  20. estimating Sheet

Dale closed up shop, but logs in occasionally. He may not respond to this thread, but we should all keep helping one another out. Beth p.s. you can upload a PDF on this site, and a few other formats too.
  21. post construction cleaning $$

Talk to your supers or proj mgr's and see when they will need you. Many don't want more than a final clean. Budgets vary widely. Ask to bid on the jobs. These guys like it if you follow up with them, they won't chase you. Some pay what it is worth others don't. Also there are different prices for various services. Beth
  22. What's in your first aid kit?

This is not so much a first aid kit item, but it is important to remember that chems are not without side effects. Many of you guys are husbands with young families. The use of Oxylic acid can cause you to become sterile. Please remember your PPE, and keep your family's future safe. Not trying to sound gross, or crude, but not everyone is aware of this and really, we all should be. If you have workers, protect them too. Beth
  23. Hog Barns

Very interesting thread! Not that there are any hog barns around us, but still interesting to learn. Beth
  24. What's in your first aid kit?

Henry, That is so important! We do that also and have found you would be surprised the number of things folks are allergic to. Also co-workers need to know if they are working with someone who has an allergy such as bee stings. You never know when they will have to aid another person. Beth
  25. Where is your mind?
