  1. We were using F-10 by PressureTek. We have just picked up thier product line and are offering their wood care products in addition to the ones made by Extreme Solutions. I'll post some more test photos when I have time. Beth
  2. The eyesore

    What a shame.... :(
  3. No, it was not EFC. We were using a percarb that we're testing. It worked very well. More to come on that soon. Henry - it's not in Montgomery County. I have not seen one like this in Montgomery either. Beth :groovy3:
  4. HD-80 on concrete

Jon, HD-80's best work on concrete is on oil or gas based stains. If you are faced with rust, you will need a muratic acid for example. Really depends on the stain you are working on. Beth :groovy3:
  5. Truck questions

Check with the manufacturer about the transmission package specifications. All said and done, the engine may be tough enough but towing a trailer can put you on the side of the road. Another thing to concider is that if concidering a 1500, F-250, or 2500, is that truck has a transmission cooler installed. This helps to keep the trannie oil from over heating when pulling heavy loads especially in hill prone areas. Rod~
  6. who will be next ??

Hi Morgan! Glad you stopped by. How are the kids these days?
  7. Things NOT to do while cleaning

I was going to ask if the Makita w/ 60 grit was less painful than hot wax. I don't like the smell or burn of Nair myself....not that I care for wax either. Beth
  8. efc-38

    :) Glad it's working for you. :)
  9. who will be next ??

MBryan and Alpha craft are both leaving?
  10. Decker 5 to spray cleaners

The speed is wonderful for applying chems, but don't forget to take time to protect yourself and the property if chems are flying through the air. Sealer is a cloud of doom, but so is SH or an acid. Be safe. :groovy2: Beth :groovy3:
  11. Pressure!

Alan has you on the right track. It will save you in the end because the more standardized attachments for pressure washer are readily available and less expensive. Coleman and Karcher units tend to have unique attachments that you can only buy from them. Short sighted in my opinion but like Bill Gates in a way. I wish I had a nickel for every one of these kinds of machines I have seen in peoples garages and sheds (mostly with other stuff piled on top of them), by now I'd have enough money to buy myself a refill at the 7-11 :) Dont let this sway you from using it if it can be modified to accept the other attachments. We used little inexpensive 8hp 3gpm 2500 psi machines for the first few years in addition to the more industrial ones added to the arsenal. Go wash something...its a gratifying thing to see what you can clean with it. Rod~
  12. Hi all- long time no talk-ron p

Hey Ron! Great seeing you here again. You have been missed. Hope you check in more often. How are things going for you and what have you been up to? Beth
  13. Decker 5 to spray cleaners

Have you ever been on the job and your sprayer battery dies...or if electric...the GFCI pops and no one is home to reset it? I dont know how many others have a contingency plan, but a pump up has kept me up and running many times just for the reasons stated above. With the exception of the pressure washer, I try to have a backup in case something fails. Rod~
  14. I would question the sealer 1st. Mold and mildew feed on linseed oil and if the mildewcide failed in the sealer, you cant be responsible for that. You didnt make it! The acid has not had any effect on any of the other products mentioned here. Menwood for example, label directions state that in more humid climates, you must add a mildewcide to the sealant before application. Why is a matter of chemistry. The dryer and the oils are supposed to function in concert with each other and if there is too much moisture, then one fails to do its job and this sets up an environment for the mildew to proliferate. I would like to see pics of this in order to better understand what you are talking about. It sounds to me like you are aware of rinsing and its importantce, so, dont feel bad...its only a little egg...throw one at the manufacturer  Keep us posted on how this turns out, its very interesting. Rod~
  15. I agree Reed, it doesn't seem like it could be the acid to me either. I think either the mildewcide failed, (not enough or whatever or is not in the product) or the batch was contaminated. If a product has a hefty dose of mildewcide and antifungal, then it will kill spores not visible to the eye is my understanding. But like other ingredients the quantity, type and kind of agent in a product can vary. You can also pop open a pail and not know it is contaminated. We have seen this problem in a few sealers in past years: Menwood ABR and homeowner applied Behr clear Have heard a few folks mention this phenomenon using Penofin as well, but have not seen it. Beth
  16. XJets

How do you like your x-jet?
  17. Join us at www.pwnabbs.org for the Board of Directors chat. Login and learn what the organization is up to and ask questions. See you there. Beth
  18. XJets

Paul, Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I try very hard to help anyone who asks. Beth
  19. XJets

We don't mind a contractor helping another contractor out by sharing a great deal. If someone who sells them came here and did it I would not be happy, but hey, we all love a good sale, right? Bob at PressureTek is a great guy and is running a great sale. We had a sale on this for a while earlier this year as well. Sales come and go. Rod and I appreciate the respect you are all showing by suggesting folks not show prices. But if a sale is red hot, we understand how contractor to contractor, you might just get excited about it. Beth & Rod
  20. A big decision but sad one

Dale, You will always be welcome here, and we hope you'll drop in from time to time. We wish you every happiness. If you are ever in Maryland, stop by! Beth & Rod
  21. XJets

The original x-jet or the m5?
  22. Wow. Thanks Rich. Say have you worked with Defy products? Rod and I have a job to do, it's a maintenance wash and recoat on a log home, but one side is getting stripped because the contractor put two different colors on it...ok. Logs are maybe a year old. The owner is supplying the Defy products. We have not worked with them before, but all the MSDS and the product specs sheets look pretty basic to us. On the home you did..... Are you sure it is the acid? Do you have photos? When we have seen wood (any type) grow mold or mildew that fast it was due to the sealer if the prep was right. We have seen products with either a failed mildewcide or anti-fungal, or a contaminated batch where the linseed oil is feeding the spores. Have you checked other jobs with the same sealer on them? I would if you have others out there. On the other hand, we had a new deck built this year and it's built with CA (copper azole) lumber. We did a light wash and neut before sealing it. The citralic we used when combined with the CA in the wood - man what a smell! It was similar to sulfur. Not something we expected at all. Unexpected things can happen. These were not PT logs were they? Beth
  23. Back in the saddle...

Welcome back Rich! Glad you're back and that your inlaws will be ok. Beth & Rod
  24. Brick Restoration project

I have pretty liberal settings on the photo upload...if you are at 72 dpi and the photo is like...4x5 full screen you should be ok. Hope this helps. I can get the exact file size limits for you if needed. :groovy3: Beth
  25. Decker 5 to spray cleaners

Is that the chem cloud or the sealer cloud? Beth
