I'm running for UAMCC President!!! Ask Questions here
Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
I think you have potential Ron. But I think your biggest strength may also be your biggest weakness. My advice, always make sure to take a step back and listen. You are an extremely dynamic highly energetic and forward moving person. But you also have a tendency to do things your way. This is my only concern. This is why I say, make sure you always take a step back, listen, consider and realize it won't always be done your way. I mean no offense. I have known you for years. I have seen you do many different things and sometimes that has sent mixed signals to the industry. Your wanting to step into this roll means that some of that has to change. You'll have to follow Roberts Rules of Order, etc. Now maybe my concerns are for naught. Hopefully they are. Hopefully you do a bang up job. Just remember, it's a different hat you'll be wearing. I do support you, and wish you the best. Good luck. Beth -
Orchard ladders for cleaning...
Beth n Rod replied to jaysonrover's question in Residential Pressure Washing
While you may find these ladders useful, terrain wise, you will find them unstable. Also, you may find them a accident risk is higher when using a pressure washer because of the spikes in discharge pressure when you pull the trigger. Liability wise, you may wanna consider eliminating them due to the tri-pod feature. These ladders were meant for a different purpose to reach into trees as may know which put the weight and stabilization into the branches as a reinforcement to minimize lateral movement. We have come to trust ladders equipped with stand-offs and dual levelers. Rod!~ -
Trim Carpentry Question....deck/siding transition
Beth n Rod replied to bigchaz's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
One thing occurred to me, make sure the caulk is paintable. If not, you may want to avoid applying to it as it will not cover. Rod!~ btw-nice work. -

Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
I didn't think that you did. But I do hope you'll see the constructive point I have made. I have learned much from others who are leaders of other orgs, and not just those I have served on or belonged to. Knowledge is all around us. Enjoy it. :-) Beth -
I'm running for UAMCC President!!! Ask Questions here
Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
Doug, if you are running for office you SHOULD be interested in PWNA in my opinion. You are running for VP, which in my thinking should mean you have a very deep desire to help the industry and all those in it. Having said that, it further makes sense that you would want to know about other orgs that benefit the industry: PWNA, IWCA, CETA, WJTA and so on. I would hope that an executive of ***** would be a person who would reach out and dialog with other orgs, seeking guidance and support....not make statements like.... Is there NOTHING to learn from those minutes? Could reading those minutes answer questions that the incoming ***** BOD might face? Is there something to be learned from PWNA history? Of course there is. Not all they have ever done is wrong. Beth -

Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
Doug, I'm not sure *****'s are even now, but they SHOULD be. It is an issue that PWNA had in the past that has been corrected. If you go to the PWNA's site you will see they have theirs online now, which I think is a step in the right direction towards transparency. ----> The PWNA Blog This is a good thing, and the ***** should do it too. I have mentioned to various BODs on the ***** that I felt this way over time. Now during an election is a good time to get buy in from candidate so we as voters know IF it will be an action item, or not..... Beth -
Question about service and equipment
Beth n Rod replied to brian22's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
We own and use Hydro-Tek's and LOVE them. True work horses. Have gotten excellent service from the authorized dealers we go to for service as well, and the company supports the products well. That's our experience. Beth -

Ron, Why not tell us all about the other orgs you served, what you did, etc. And I did get your text, I was working. Sorry, business first. Beth -
I'm running for UAMCC President!!! Ask Questions here
Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
Ron - It would not be YOUR BOD. It would be the MEMBERS BOD. The BOD serves the members. The members vote you in, and if the by-laws are not upheld, then they should indeed have a voice to get anyone out. If I seem skeptical, well, I am. I have seen many things in this industry and I have always raise the bar high. I would also like to see someone run against you. Again, the position is much too important for you to run unopposed. Which is why objectivity, an open mind, and a willingness to listen are so important. Otherwise it is just wheel spinning. Progress takes TEAMWORK. Beth -

Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
Ron, is it easy or difficult for you to be open minded and objective, to listen to other ideas without dominating the conversation? You don't have to answer this aloud, but you need to look inside of yourself. And, can you let the majority on a BOD who may vote opposing what you want, can you let that be the decision and final word? Because it come down to votes. BOD's do business during meetings. The back woods on the phone crap has GOT to stop. You get onto the BOD call, you follow the agenda, you make your motions and vote your items, following Roberts Rules of Order. You record minutes and they are public with a show of how everyone voted and what was discussed. Be ready Ron, because I'll demand it. You say you want the best, well that's a pretty high standard, one I know how to measure and some of us...will hold you to it more than I think you will like. Don't take this the wrong way. Just consider it. Beth -

Charlie, I would have to think about that long and hard. I put in YEARS with PWNA. I saw things that disgusted me, that have since been fixed. All I will say, is I see similar things and I am not signing up for abuse - which is what I got last time in spades. In my final year I logged over 1,000 volunteer hours - in one year. I don't have that luxury. I also will not make the mistake again of letting myself be bashed....in great part by those who claim to be in it for the greater good. It's just not all it seems. Beth -

Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
See here's the thing....diversity on a BOD is a good thing, it brings different points of view and ideas. It would seem harmful to me to have a BOD front loaded with people who are all like minded and who are all selected by a person in charge. We need to have enough contractors on the ballot to be able to have a choice in who we select as MEMBERS.... None of this back alley - on the phone - I'll load the BOD the way I want to stuff. And don't think for a minute it can't happen. Or worse, that this is not part of a bigger plan. Beth -
Fun stuff!!!! Beth

Beth n Rod replied to Ron Musgraves's question in The Club House
DING DING DING DING DING!!!!!!!!! Ron, if you run and get elected, you do realize I hope that you are just one person, and that the group input and decisions via vote are not going to all be in agreement wit you. You do realize that you can't just load the BOD with who you want to serve. I would hope you remember when PWNA had a problem with a bully/dictator at the post of president. Forgive me, but you have such a strong "my way or the high way" personality that I can see your hard work becoming obsessive and taking you down the same path. How can you convince us otherwise that after seeing years of these types of your posts and many phone calls, that it will not be this way? Just asking. Beth -
Removing Fur
Beth n Rod replied to extremeclean's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
ACR Products sells them. We get ours there. 610-253-8005, tell to Tom or Barbara, and tell them you need the defelting pads for buffing decks. Beth -
Dead Beat or slow pay customers...How do you deal with them?
Beth n Rod posted a topic in Business Topics & Tips
One of the members on PWNA has had a problem with these types and asked for some insight and advice to remedy his situation with a non-paying customer. I thought it would be an interesting thread to discuss here...How do you deal with them? Rod~ -
Trim Carpentry Question....deck/siding transition
Beth n Rod replied to bigchaz's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
You will need to sand the contact areas. There is no caulk that will adhere well to another product without an effect on the life expectancy. Rod!~ -

Install Custom made trim 1X_ to fit gap and paint the same color as house trim. I suggest using pt lumber for it since it is at the base. Apply caulk to all exterior borders including those meeting the decking. my .02 Rod!~
