hydro tek issues
Beth n Rod replied to carltoncleans's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
You have a couple of less frustrating options..... 1. take it to McHenry Equipment in Frederick, MD. They are HydroTek Authorized.... 2. take it to Tom Vogel of ACR Products in Easton, PA. He too is HydroTek Authorized.... Get it looked at and into top shape. Tom will most likely give you solid phone advice but advice is only as good as any description. Beth -

So am I going through that Mid Life thing ....
Beth n Rod replied to Jim Gamble's question in The Club House
Me? Not at all. But I have met many people in my lifetime and women do talk. What do you think we do when we go to any bathroom in a restaurant for 20 mins to powder our noses? Girl code. Some things don't get discussed around guys. Beth -

Beth n Rod replied to Jim Gamble's question in The Club House
Now that was just sexist. You don't think women have any kind of "oh crap my life is half over" moment? Guess again. But typically we are too busy worrying about and picking up after a man who isn't going to listen to anything we might have to say anyway. We get childbirth, midlife (yours AND ours) AND menopause. Sounds fair to me. Beth -

Sorry to tell you this Jim but bleach will not neutralize your stripper. Both are alkaline. Doesn't work that way.... Beth -

Yeah here's a suggestion....CONTACT ME like Jimbo did so I can fix it. Now if you give me the other user name I'll merge the accounts. Some email accounts send password requests straight to the spam filter. Beth p.s. lay off John. he did a nice thing. -
I like the Barbie car idea....with the flowers.....and maybe a pair of cheap slippers that you can put glue on and cover in red glitter (think wizard of oz) and the note in the barbie car with the flowers and slippers could read....Let's dance the night away together....or something like that. Beth

Newbie is having trouble controlling Burner temp
Beth n Rod replied to Badzuk's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If you don't have a 30gal+ reserve tank for the water to flow into before recirculating, it will build up heat just from going through the pump. This has nothing to do with the burner or absorption of heat from the coils. it has to do with the friction of the pump as the water flows through it. That is why it is recommended to pull the trigger every 3 minutes or so to keep the pump cool by allowing the trapped water in the system to exit and cool water to enter the loop. Rod!~ btw, you don't want to rely on the high temp pop off valve either. Every time this is used, it brings the water close to the threshold of damage to the pump and its packings. -
Help!! 100% bleach cleaner applied to new deck
Beth n Rod replied to dereka1's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
In addition to the options mentioned by others, there is one thing that remains. Sanding. You can rent a large orbital sander to sand the deck to remove the damaged wood fibers which as a result of the heavy bleaching, will have a shorter life span and be degraded. This will help ensure you get the best results out of the new stain you apply and help to minimize the future damage that is deeper within the wood. Rod!~ -

Need advice on customer scheudling and communication
Beth n Rod replied to plainpainter's topic in Business Topics & Tips
I know exactly how you feel. We tell them once they sign they are in line, done in order, no exceptions. We guestimate being booked out about X weeks/months but tell them it is based upon ideal conditions and that it can and most likely will change. We tell them we will call them again when we are closer to the start date, several days to a week out. We tell them short notice is possible if the weather doesn't allow for longer planning. We NEVER give anyone a date until we are close enough for it to be realistic. It doesn't stop the calls, that's the nature of residential work. And the more popular you become the longer your line is. And the more likely many are to wait. Beth
