Keeping Airless Overspray off house while deck staining
Beth n Rod replied to staudend's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
What Greg said. People are naive about products being on the shelves and thinking that "they must be good if they are for sale" and therefor the contractor that applied them did something wrong. We have all seen good and bad products in some way and know better. It is just that the customer doesn't. Rod!~ -
Stripping Sealer from Pavers
Beth n Rod replied to MeiersEnterprises's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Do the ENTIRE paver, not just a spot...Otherwise it will show. You are aiming for a uniform color, and you want to reduce the shadow...... Beth -

I gave up on those kinds of tools cause of the fact you get rained on anyway. That gutter crap is foul! Rod!~

+1 for Timo. The main components alone do not work as well as a designed mix. Sodium Hydroxide alone will not touch acrylics and will react very harshly to exposed wood creating severe fuzzies and damaging the wood. Unless you are a chemist, I suggest you stick with cleaners/strippers that were designed by one or hire one to do it for you and private label it. Rod!~

Cleaner chemicals not rinsing off all the way?
Beth n Rod replied to cwenbass's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
A neutralizer is required to complete the process. Without that, you can rinse all you want but it doesn't correct the pH and bring the wood back to its natural state. Rod!~ -

do wood stains stop arsenic
Beth n Rod replied to Chappy's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
As long as you maintain the deck coating, I have been told yes they do. I was told this MANY years ago, and I am not sure of the accuracy....although it makes some sense. Beth -
With all the materials going up, all business costs going up, and now AGAIN fuel going up, how long is everyone honoring quotes for? Beth

TWP Stain longevity
Beth n Rod replied to Marty's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Not without going to a solid. Before the VOC laws changed in 2005, there where more products (oil based) that used to last 3 years on horizontals. That time is gone for those who are in the affected zones. Where you are, you are fortunate to still have access to the TWP version that lasts that long. We don't have that option. Rod!~ -
