    Funny Jim! Beth
  2. Bad deck stain job - Can you help me?

I don't think it is necessarily over application but more of a preparation issue. The previous product may not have been completely removed creating penetration issues on the old wood. The sanding either did not remove all the constituents of the previous sealer or/and the installer used too fine of a grit. Fortunately, Cabot's is easy enough to strip but it requires the whole process be repeated including sanding. Rod!~
  3. How do you handle your cell phone ringing when you are with a client? It occurs to me that answering a phone, especially on a first meeting can be a damned if you do, and damned if you don't kind of thing. What do you think? Please VOTE and share in the thread.... Beth

  7. Paint Removal

Sorry I missed your post, good job though. Curious how you got water in to the pot though. We have had moisture separation issues where it clogs up the media at the entry point from the pot to the hose line ... or is this what you are talking about?!? Rod!~

Wonderful. Hope this thread dies fast. Beth

If you have to tell him how to fix it, he has no business being on your deck. Beth

Looking good! And yes, all your time is money....set up time counts and minimums should be established. Beth
  13. First Deck Troubles.

This is a bad mistake. Your pricing should be YOUR pricing, not comparable to others. The reason being is that it should reflect your actual business costs in order to stay profitable. 14. Gotta wonder what the compatibility of the mildewcides and solvents are between WTW and A/C. Sometimes, solvents can cancel out the mildewcides making the deck turn black from the mold feast that ensues. Let us know when you go back to do maintenance. Rod!~
  15. This is fast becoming a trade technique among the more experienced applicators. Ipe can survive for up to 50 years without any type of protection and an occasional cleaning just to remove the buildup of environmental growth. We also agree that allowing Ipe to weather for at least 6 months is better for the application of a product to have a decent longevity. Ipe is naturally endowed with extractives that in certain parts of the tree are nearly impervious to any type of sealer. Other parts are generally just stubborn because of the porous structure and its open or closed state at the time of harvest. We completed a maintenance this year of a deck that sits adjacent to a pool and the deck looked pretty darn good considering the conditions present. A light wash was all the was needed and a recoat using Armstrong Clark made it come back to life. The deck was allowed time to weather due to a couple of circumstances (construction and our schedule) which played in the sealants favor. 16. Alaskan Yellow Cedar sealer/stain

My apologies for our passion showing through here. There are a couple of different trains of thought where certain types of sealers are concerned and your thread has good points of debate albeit may have you somewhat concerned. Btw, Rick, Jim and I are friends never-the-less, we just don't always agree on certain things. Again, my apologies. Rod!~

Ha! Great pic, cool job, and man you sure can title a post.... Beth
  18. Alaskan Yellow Cedar sealer/stain

Jim, If you can't have a debate without turning this into something negative like calling it stupid and saying it's a personal problem, stay out of it until you can. I re-read every post and cannot find any single way that I made any personal reference to you. Its about READY SEAL... not you. Rod!~
