    Is it smoking black? That engine has a fixed jet so mixture can't be adjusted (short of changing the jet). How long did you run it with the dirty air filter? How does the compression feel? If you ran it a long time with a clogged air filter, and your engine is equipped with a spark arrestor on the muffler, there's a possibility of the exhaust being clogged with soot. Might just need a valve adjustment, too.

    Are you looking at the santoprene or viton diaphragm? Just make sure the rubber parts are compatible with the solution you're pumping. If $120 is for the santoprene, I think I can do better.

    1. Have a working knowledge of pressure washer operation and application.

    2. A building to work from.

    3. An employee highly versed in repairs (gas engines, oil, natural, and LP gas burners, pumps, electricity from 12 volts dc to 460 volts ac, etc.)

    4. Suppliers of equipment, parts, and chemicals.

    5. Registration with the state for your corp. and sales taxes.

    6. Start up capital.

    7. Insurance.

    8. Knowledge of target customers.

    Mobile washers are only a small part of my business. Most of my income is in manufacturing plants, truck repair and sales locations, car washes, tanker wash plants, food processing plants, construction companies, etc. You have to be ready to extend credit (30 - 60 days), and have collection channels available. Get set up with a lease company, get a credit card processor, accounting software, etc, etc......the list is long. Call me if you'd like to chat...I've been in the business for nearly 30 years now. I'll help if I can.

    I've been a member for 4 years. Gotten a few sales leads through them, but the biggest plus is customers knowing they've got someone to go to if a complaint can't be resolved, and a merchant carrying that logo should hold himself to a higher standard of customer service and never have the BBB called in the first place. Chamber of Commerce is another organization worthy of a look. Lots of networking opportunities and adds an air of credibility.

    Been doing what I do since the ripe age of 15, working in a rental store servicing equipment of all types including pw's. Went pw exclusive in '77, worked as service mgr for 3 different companies over a 19 year span. March of next year I celebrate 10 years of owning my own store. I've seen a lot of changes in that time period.

    From what I understand (based on the quote below) a two gun machine requires a special unloader setup so you don't get 8gpm at 7000psi through one gun when the other guy lets go of his trigger.

    Actually, if the unloader is set for 3,000 psi, it can't get to 7,000 no matter what. But a flow unloader has to see its full rated flow (no splitting it), and a trapped pressure will wear prematurely but will still act as a regulator for a time.

    You cannot get all the water out of the pump. There are just too many small passages in there to totally evacuate the water. You need to run antifreeze through the system including hoses and guns because they will also freeze and break. Get a short piece of garden hose with a male end (assuming yours is hose fed, not float tank), mix auto antifreeze and water in a bucket, drop the hose in and start the machine with all hoses and a gun attached. As soon as it starts to draw the mixture, release the gun trigger. This will bump antifreeze through the bypass circuit of the unloader. Trigger the gun and wait for the green to appear out the wand. Shut 'er off and store it. Put some fuel stabilizer in the gas before winterizing to get you an easy start later on.

    As for the direction of flow through a quick coupler, it really doesn't matter. Manufacturers have been setting them up both ways for years and one isn't any better than the other.

    Me, Washaway...how ya doing? Do you have part numbers or do you need for me to look them up? I don't know what kind of time frame you're talking about whan you mention the increase. Most of the pump manufacturers are located in Europe (Italy mostly) and the Euro got real strong last year. The '05 price list was a shock to me. It's almost '06...can't wait to see what happens.

    Murphy showed up at Mass one Sunday and the priest almost fell down when he saw him. Murphy had never been seen in church in his life.

    After Mass, the priest caught Murphy and said, "Murphy, I am so glad you decided to come to Mass, what made you come?"

    Murphy said, "I got to be honest with you Father, a while back, I misplaced me hat and I really, really love that hat. I know that Mc Glynn had a hat just like me hat, and I knew that McGlynn come to church every Sunday. I also knew that McGlynn had to take off his hat during Mass and I figured he would leave it in the back of church.

    So, I was going to leave after Communion and steal McGlynn's hat."

    The priest said, "Well, Murphy, I notice that you didn't steal McGlynn's hat. What changed your mind?"

    Murphy said, "Well, after I heard your sermon on the 10 commandments, I decided that I didn't need to steal McGlynn's hat."

    The priest gave Murphy a big smile and said; "After I talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' you decided you would rather do without your hat than burn in Hell, right?"

    Murphy shook his head and said, "No, Father, after you talked about 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' I remembered where I left me hat."
