staining deck with an airless
Cleveland Mobile replied to plainpainter's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Make sure you have the correct filter in the gun...they also help the misting. The filters come in red, yellow, green, and white and each has a different size screen. I always used the white filters for most applications. Andy -

Changing the gun filter to a different mesh can help with the fogging too. Most people dont realize that the filter selection is just as important as the tip selection. Andy -

Slide in unit
Cleveland Mobile replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Once saw a sparkle wash truck like that. The whole unit including the tank was on an aluminum platform that had casters under it. When you pulled it out a set of legs would drop so that the platform became literally a workbench if you had to work on the unit. I thought it was pretty slick and totally solved the problem of working on a unit while its in a van. However that was the only truck I saw like that....all the sparkle wash vans i've seen since are just van mounted. Andy -
I would think the soap would react with the acid since most soaps are alkilyn. Andy

Why not just use the reuseable fittings ....never had a problem with them ...cut off the end of the hose with a saw and put them on with a vice and wrench. Andy

Had a similar problem once. Have an exterminator get rid of the nest and find where they are coming in from. Usually a hole on the house exterior. Andy

The best setup I have found is a flow switch and the type of temp switch that clamps on the 1/2 inch pipe coming out of the burner. The ones with the bulb that sets in the pressure line seemed to only last a short time and then the bulb would crush. I have been told the clamp on ones arent as accurate but they have always worked for me. The one on my machine is 5 yrs old and still fine. Andy

Similar situation here john....when I had my heart surgery I called the Gold Clipper and JB Dollar magazines and told them I was in the hospital and that I expected to pay for the add that went out that day but to cancel the remaining 5 adds. Gold Clipper said no problem and they didnt want any money for the add (350.00) until I was totally back to work...even if it took a year or two...JB Dollar ran the add 2 more times and said they had no record of my call and plan on taking me to court. My response....f..k em......I'm not paying for anything now.....but point is I found out real quickly which magazine had class and which one is owned by an ass. Andy

Goof Off
Cleveland Mobile replied to jnoden's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I've always used Krud kutter to remove any overspray. Never had a problem . Goof off never worked well for me. I even buy the Krud Kutter in 1 gallon containers so I can add a little to the water to clean up the airless. Even those stains that clean up with thinner will come off vinyl if you remove them the same day with Krud Kutter Andy -
Terry, I actually have better luck with the cheap ones. Try pushing them together as you pull on the female part. Sometimes if you spin them first they are easier to get apart. Once apart pour some oil in the female to lube the little balls. I always just use a little 10w30 that I keep in the truck for the pressure washer engine. Andy

Repair charges

Here's a little trick for staining new wood......after you replace the wood spray stripper (with a pump up sprayer) on the wood and rinse. It makes the wood match better when you stain it. Andy -
Trailers get the black streaks from the sealer that is used on the pieces that are where the roof and the side meet. Its also a similar material to shingles. Andy

Woohoo! Love the way this sprays!
Cleveland Mobile replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Are you using an airless or a deckster to apply? Andy -
To answer you questions... 1. I find hot water and a butyl detergent removes the streaks 2. Replace the chemical injector on the pressure washer 3. I use extension wands for high areas Andy

had a similar situation here...if it hasnt been on long Krud Kutter will take it off. Andy

Here is what I compete against

what type of acid? Andy -
Fleetwash....there's a company full of bs........they also took over quite a few accounts for me under a national contract....supposed to pick up the water....In fact they say that they do but you never see it happen. I've since gotten back a few of the accounts because the customers told the leasing company either I wash them or they will seek out another leasing company for their vehicles. Fleetwash should pay more attention who they use as subcontractors...and by the way...they were the low ballers here. Andy

Show me your equipment...
Cleveland Mobile replied to Tronman's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I have some pics in the pitch book i use of my equipment. With gas being over $2 a gallon there is no way i'm bringing equipment for a show and tell. Did they want to see the cement truck before the concrete was originally poured? Andy -
Black deck with no finish on it.
Cleveland Mobile replied to Adrian's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
I've run into a few decks that are black or turn black when you wash them due to the customer putting linseed oil on the wood Andy -
Interesting burn on plants.
Cleveland Mobile replied to PLD's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I did a job once at a condo complex and had similar problems.....tell them that can happen and it will come back and that you only replace DEAD plants...not plants that lost a few leaves or flowers. Hell a good hail storm will set plants back a while....next time put that in your contract....that either hot water or tarps may shock plants. Andy -
maintenance plans
Cleveland Mobile replied to glock40's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
On decks I always quote a maintenance price for the following year. Then at the beginning of the season I send cards out to remind them of the maintenance. It builds up a steady client base that I have every year. And the referals I get from the maint. jobs are usually other people interested in the same thing. Another thing I find that works is putting a little humor in the pitch......I say to them "do you know that wood is a living , breathing material? " they always agree to that....then I say "Did you know that scientists have proven that trees actually comunicate with each other?" some have heard this and some people havent. Then I tell them that the boards on their deck are probably chatting with each other as we speak....and probably arent too happy with them since they have been mistreated...but not to fear...I'll wash the deck....seal it with a quality sealer....and have a chat with the boards so that no only will they look good...but will have a better opinion of their owner........they laugh...it brings down their guard and I usually get the job.
