  1. How do I get this off?

I had a similar situation earlier this year. Bob from pressure tek provided me with a stripper that was gel like. I rolled it on just the painted areas and rinsed. It all came off with one application. Andy
  2. Olympic mildew check

I dont know if i would use bleach on trex. I've had good luck using a high ph alkaline through a downstream. They clean easy but there is a class action suit because of the mildew and discoloring Andy
  3. Vines on Brick

hey tony....just did a job like that myself. I used hot water and a rotating tip at 3000 psi to clean it. One job a year like that is enough for me Andy
  4. Truck questions

Just a tip on Dodge....kick the overdrive off at all times. I have a 97 3500 with a 12 ft box. It doesnt have the diesel it has the 360 gas engine. With the overdrive off I get 13 mpg. and have never had a transmission problem with 98000 miles on it so far. Andy
  5. Deck Job, Cleveland OH area

  6. White Aluminum Siding

I've been washing aluminum for 23 years. I've always 2 stepped them with an acid and alkaline. I meter the acid and the alkaline and use the weakest solution i can get away with. Sometimes you have to hit an area 2 or 3 times instead of just once with a stronger solution. Once I establish a pattern on a side of the house i proceed to the rest. Andy
  7. Vinyl siding oxidation removal?

a lot of colors are discontinued by the siding manufacturer for that reason...oxidation. andy
  8. Birthday Lady

my wife would kill me if i kept reminding her she was a year older all this time andy
  9. help! stain on vynal siding

    Krudcutter works the best Andy
  10. Organic

Good point Tony....biodegradable is an overused term.....nothing worse than a customer who is ecologically educated....or thinks he is andy
  11. Tornado Air/ K&N Filter?

My equipment is in a 97 Dodge 3500 with a 12 foot box
  12. Bink??? I've never heard that term before..lol Andy
  13. I dont have a digital camera...it broke...basically I just hang them over the rails leaving one side exposed to spray. I fasten them with 2 or 3 staples from a tack staple gun. When it's time to move the tarp the staples come right out with the tarp...if not they are easy to pull with a pliers Dale...I know about deck scapes....but they cant tint the water base stuff to cedar anymore....it looks like mustard when they try. Andy
  14. Gutter Cleaning Question

Ryan...try putting a "T" with 2 tips on the end of that hook to wash out the gutters...makes it more controllable.
  15. I'd like to add a question here. What's the story with Sherwin Williams? They changed their deck sealers. I always used the cuprinol in the blue label in cedar...now they tint the sealers and it looks mustard yellow. I even called cuprinol and was told there is no formula for cedar. Any input on this? Andy
  16. I've never found anything to beat an airless sprayer. They do have control for the pressure so overspray is not a poblem. If you are worried about spraying the rails and getting stain on the house, take a tarp (the runners work best as they are usually 4x16) and hang it on the inside of the rail holding it in place with a couple staples from a tack stapler. Andy
  17. Stain on Vinyl Siding

I agree with AndyE....cardboard and shields are the best and fastest. And that KrudCutter removes any overspray quickly. Andy worked with me for a few years and we devised many tricks. You would be suprised how handy a tack stapler and a tarp is to..hanging it over a rail to prefent spray from hittint the house...and much easier to work with than plastic. Andy
  18. Surface Finish Irregularity!

Is it possible the second coat was put directly over the first coat without washing it first? I've seen cuprinol cedar do that and have a pinkish tint when its applied that way. Andy
  19. I notice everyone has bad things to say about cwf-uv. In the Cleveland area it is really popular, probably because they make it right in Hudson. I've seen a lot of failures of the product but i've seen it work too. I think it has to do with the application. I just stripped a deck (approx 400 sq. ft) that has had a coat of cwf put on every year for 12 years. I make all my own strippers and I used one with caustic potash and butyl. Took me an hour and it was down to the bare wood. And believe it or not the customer wants cwf again. In all honesty at least in Cleveland I have seen them all fail. Twp, cuprinol..cwf...Penofin is just crap. Doesnt last and looks like gargage when applied. I have always used the strategy of selling a maintenance every year or 2 years. As long as the product is easy to work with I'm happy. Its amazing how different stains sell in different markets. Wolman is even hard to find here....and it has a terrible reputation. Then there is One Time Wood which is clear coat for cars with a cedar tint. Nothing I would want to use...have seen it peal. If you guys have any imput on different stains that you have felt comfortable with let me know...i would love to try them. Andy
  20. Strip the deck and follow with a brightener to neutralize the stripper. Tell the customer to enjoy the dead plants Andy
  21. Huge Condo Job.. Need Help!

I have a condo complex that I clean 75 units every year.....it takes 4 seasons to clean the entire complex....they only do the 75 each year. I do the decks which are about the same size as described for 295. Each homeowner pays seperately and its a pricing that the condo has agreed to. Andy
  22. Flood products

I have used flood on many decks in cleveland....being that it is made right in hudson they have quite a strong following in this area. As long as it is back brushed I've never had a problem. The customers know it will need a maintenance and call every year. I'm convinced that different areas have different preferences....Wolman is like a bad word out this way....Cuprinol is another popular sealer...the cedar tone water base. Andy
  23. Picky people

I have to agree that some cultures are tough to work with.....mid eastern are the hardest. I have one guy that calls every year....has called for 5 yrs straight to see if i will do the job cheaper than the original quote. Every year i tell him no....and every year he goes without having the deck done. What I dont get is you come to this country...dont pay taxes for a long while....and still want it for nothing.....go home. Andy
  24. Media Field day

They are a different breed all right.......they feel violence is part of life.....just shows you cant trust any group of people who have never eaten a hot dog. What really gets my goat is when they feel we should treat them special because they come from arabia, India ...or any of those countries. Just trying to do business with some of them is tough....they want the job for free and then get insulting toward America when you try to justify your price. I'm not a prejudice person in any way, but there definately is something wrong with that group. Andy
  25. House Wash - Leaks from underneath

A trick that has worked for me is once you soap the siding stand back and rinse from a distance ....after rinsing the wall then move in on it and use the pressure. What causes the streaks is soap going under the siding. Andy
