  1. Food For Thought!

On a more serious note....I think we americans tend to stress out more than others......therefore we drop dead. We all need to just let things happen without going ballistic about them. Andy
  2. Check This Out ........

Wouldnt it be nice if when people try to get into this country they are asked if they ever have tasted a hot dog.....if not....see ya. I do plan to boycott that stamp....personally...i have had it with all their ridiculous beliefs. Read the coran....no it doesnt say that all arabs should kill us...but it does say we all should be killed. There is one thing i dont understand though. That is why we Americans have a memory span of only 24 hrs. I think it is up to them to prove they are not all that way not for me to just believe that they are harmless. No one has ever actually seen a human sacrifice by devil worshippers either...but i am not going to start believing they are harmless too. Andy
  3. Faith vs. Fact (Creation vs. Evolution)

My wife is jewish.......of course my luck i married the only jew on the planet that's broke...lol...but thats a whole other story. We raised the kids catholic.....not that either of us thought that was the better religion....just a whole lot easier and cheaper. The kids are aware of both religions which i think is a good thing. Education is your best weapon against doing wrong. Although I was raised Catholic....i'm not a real fan anymore with all the problems they have had with priests. My religious beliefs are simple.....pass on a little good and a little caring every day and if you can sleep well you are at peace with the creator. You know we've all at one time or another have thought about what the perfect woman or man would be like......being in this business and i'm sure we've all met some pretty strange birds during our travels.........we've never once thought about what a bad or evil person is made of. Yet god did and created us and even the ones we catagorize as assholes. Proof that god has one hell of a sense of humor.
  4. Truck washing chemical

I only 2step if the aluminum needs brightened or if there is a film on the trailers. Never brush. The secret to 2 stepping is the second chemical...the alkaline.....the ph has to be high enough to both neutralize the acid and remove the bugs. I've never considered myself a back yard chemist. I've been doing my own blending for 20 yrs. However why not contact bob at pressuretek and ask him for an acid followed by his 6136 alkaline. This should take care of it for y ou. As far as red soap and brown derby...didnt think either of those had enough kick. Andy
  5. A few Questions - Power Wash Equipment

Whatever system you go with I would recommend seperate components. That is a pressure washer and a seperate water heater.....much easier to get them off the truck if you have to and you are dealing with 2 smaller footprints rather than one large one. One of my machines is a diesel skid. Its size dictates where you put it in the truck....and after I got it I realized one important fact.....dont let it run out of fuel. If you run out of fuel in a gas engine you add fuel and restart. If you run out with a diesel you have to have the system purged to get the air out. Andy
  6. Custom Set Up Done

Hey guys....I had a trailer...hated it. Hard to back up. I now have a box truck (12 foot box) and guess what.....I'm going back to a van. I have found over the years that the bigger the truck the more crap you dont need seems to find its way in your truck. Gas mileage is ok with my dodge...i get 13mpg....but repairs...very expensive. I've taken down many a basketball hoop and phone wires over the years. Once I backed into the drive with no problem....did the job and by the time I was ready to leave it was warmer and the wires sort of drooped and bingo...they had no phones for a while. Bottom line is knowing what is enough I guess. When I had a 300 gallon water tank I wished I had more...now I have a 500 gallon and sometimes thats not enough. And filling a bigger tank takes longer so where's the savings in time? I'm planning on going back to a van...another maxi van. Easier to work on...easier to find someone who can lift it up....cheaper parts. Couple months ago I bought new rear tires (which by the way thats a once a year thing) and it took them 3 hours to get them on because on the box trucks the rims slide over the axles and tend to rust. They are really hard to break loose.....and because of that most box trucks dont even come with a spare...have to call a tire man. Ventilation? Try caps......if you ever look at a Sparkle Wash truck they have containers with the lines going into a hose barb on the tank. True with a box truck I dont have to worry about fumes...but I cant heat the box while I'm driving either. There are pros and cons with any way you choose to run your business. And as far as people seeing your equipment and being impressed.....in Cleveland if they are impressed it's because they plan on stealing it...lol. Bottom line...whatever works best for you is the best way to go. Andy
  7. Custom Set Up Done

    Looks great!! Andy
  8. Traffic Tickets

jon it was a 1973 trans am with a 455 hd engine. Andy
  9. Traffic Tickets

Last ticket I got was in 1976 ...... 140 in a 55 in some little town called Ashland Ohio ....more like Mayberry. I made me leave the car and took me right to court. I guess I could say they taught me a lesson Andy
  10. New Dodge Ram Owners

I have a 97 Dodge 3500 with a 12 foot box.....bought it new in 97....no problems yet with the ball joints....did blow a valve spring and tore up the engine at 30000 but warranty replaced it. Never use the overdrive because I have a 500 gallon tank in it and it gets 13 mpg on the highway 12 city........what i dont like is that it nees a tune up every 25 thousand. Dodge said that is normal. My wife has a new explorer for financial reasons too.....so she doesnt get any ideas about leaving with half....lol Andy
  11. Sure-Flow Setup

The plastic ones look fine....look like wood .....have some black ones too that look fine.......4 little brads and done.
  12. Sure-Flow Setup

I went to a local printing shop (printing partners) they had some really nice plates that looked like a wood grain but were made of a plastic type material. Andy
  13. New Dodge Ram Owners

Sorry to hear about the truck. I had a Monte Carlo SS stolen from my drive back in 87. The collie we had didnt even hear anything and it was stolen around 6pm....still daylight. I just recently changed insurance....Bob Williamson from Pressure Tech gave me the name of the Insurance co...Western Reserve. They were not only cheaper with the truck and business insurance but they gave me an inland marine policy to cover equipment. The price on the entire policy was half of what I was paying Grange. Loosing my truck, also a dodge but it has a 12 foot box , would be a pain. But at least I would get money to replace equipment to make it easier. Just a reminder too.....if you recently bought any equipment with a credit card they usually will replace it if stolen. Andy
  14. Sure-Flow Setup

Before trees were invented.......ha ha ha......actually I do mix all my own chemicals.....that is why I can dillute 10 to 1. On solid stains I do put the stripper on straight. And there is no "dwell time"......wax on...wax off.......(ancient chinese secret). Actually I would be happy to share all my secrets.....if you want to call them that. I like to refer to them as baptisms of fire over the years.....learning by mistakes. And Mike.....was that you I saw on tv giving a hard time to all those people in whoville.....taking their xmas stuff? Andy
  15. The games of our past

Now that you have made me feel like a really old fart......Since I can remember all of that stuff. But it does bring back some good memories. Andy
  16. Sure-Flow Setup

Lot of great ideas here. I have always kept the stripper/ cleaner/ and brightener in the truck and run them through the injector. All of them are strong enough that they work fine at a 10 to 1 ratio....as long as the deck is against vinyl siding......aluminum or wood siding i have to be careful with and thats when i use a pump sprayer. I can guarantee that I will have a sureflow unit like that this year. Have to be prepared for everything. And by the way......just something to look out for.....there are some vinyl sidings out there that are made from recycled vinyl. You can regognize these because the color isnt all the way through. If you bend back a panel the underside is black. Any soap or stripper will remove the paint. Sad part is...at least here in Cleveland....this siding is used on the more expensive newer homes. I had a nightmare with it while washing a deck....just wanted to pass that on. Have a great holiday Andy
  17. Sure-Flow Setup

Hey Rob..... I saw your unit and it is great.....need more chem? Just have an extra 6 gallon container. Most people dont think of filling those 20 gallon containers. In a van that can be a real pain. Seeing your entire unit being built at PressureTek, I'm hoping this summer I can take the trip to St. Louis just to see it in action. Most the people I see here either have a trailer or a box truck. I have had trailers....never could get use to backing them in....and now with the box truck I run into problems with wires for residential. I personally think a van is the best way to go for residential work but it does require accounting for the low ceiling and limited space. And I think you've done just that......great ideas. Andy
  18. Custom Unit W/Reels

Hey Mike.... ha ha ha......We'll see when we get together and I show you how to do it. Just so everybody knows...Mike is my buddy.....he's from Phily and we've been working real hard with him here to teach him some of the important things in life.....like its called a pop not a soda.....all kidding aside....a real good guy. (make the check payable to cash mike) Andy
  19. Custom Unit W/Reels

Hey Rob... Thanks for the nice words......Be sure to take some pics of that new rig in your truck. From what I hear your new system will be ready for anything you run into. Great idea with the surflow pump set up. Glad the portable unit is working well for you. It does pack quite a kick. The diesel I told you about was a unit that was actually given to me by a guy out here going out of the business. He tried to sell it for about a year but it was in pretty sad shape....filthy..and not working right....didnt even have a decent muffler. I'll have to try to get Mike from extreme to take some pics of it so i can post them so you can see what it looks like now. I told him I really didnt like the idea of a diesel smoking up the inside of my truck. He came up with this trick exhaust where its pumped directly to the burner exhaust. One guy that I wash trucks for saw it and is now giving Bob his repair business on his pressure washer......he was that impressed . Let us all know how the new unit works out. Like a new corvette for Christmas.. Andy
  20. Custom Unit W/Reels

Rob Saw your unit at Bob's the other day......beautiful. Wish I was closer to you so i could see that thing perform. Bob already said he was going to put an oil drain system in for you....you wont have any problems. I guess the hour meter flashes when its time to change the oil. I think the only thing it cant do is make a cup of coffee for you. And I agree with you....Bob is the best in the business. You should check out his surface cleaner..the Bad Boy. It beats them all hands down and its a nice piece of equipment to have. By the way....hope that portable you got from Bob is treating you well.....I took very good care of it and it doesnt have many hours on it at all. If you are ever in Cleveland I'll show you the custom work Bob did on my diesel unit.......Its a real eye catcher now Andy
  21. Pet Urine Smell

Here is a formula to remove the odor.....1 quart hydrogen peroxide (get this at a drug store....same stuff you put on cuts) add 1quarter cup baking soda and a teaspoon of dawn for dishes.....spray full strength on area ......this will actually neutralize a skunk odor. I've used it to get the cat spray smell out of carpets.......good luck. Andy
  22. Pressuretek skids

Ron....if your talking about the Pressuretek in Cleveland here they are simply the best. Bob is probably the most knowledgeable person in the business. And I've been in the business since 1981.....have met most of them.
  23. Probably the strangest thing we ever washed was a large oven for Mrs. Smiths Pies. That was years ago but i still shudder when I think about the fact that I was actually in the oven. Made me feel like part of that Hansel and Grettle story.
  24. House Washing

Maybe I am from the old school......I still use the 2 step process on many homes that are aluminum or some types of vinyl. I ran into one problem last year with a home that was sided with a recycled vinyl panel. You can regognize this if the back of the panel is black. Normal vinyl siding the color is all the way through. Believe it or not this was on a 300 thousand dollar home. Long story made short......the color washes right off. Be careful of these. Best advise is to walk away unless you can clean it with plain water.
