I hate failure especially when something was working. My PWNA days are now a thing of the past. I let my membership expire last month after 15 consecutive yrs. I'm now completely removed from the 2 non profit PW orgs. I did enjoy being involved with them both in the past but today neither fits my business model anymore. Now I just take care of my business and my family and have moved on with ZERO involvement in fighting for the best interest of other's in the PW field. I did my time. Now its PWRA time's of enjoyment for me and ZERO Political anything just like that association is. Hope to cya guys at their DC event :)

We had a late start because of lousy winter weather here so we didn't get started to the middle of the 1st week in April. Fortunately since then my guys have worked at least 5 days a week including July 4th week when we power washed a large parking garage that weekend. Where booked out the rest July(my guys are doing a 3 week long nite work cleaning walkways for a nearby town) and part of August so far. What happens from Sept-Nov will really determine how good my year really was when we shut down in Dec. So how's your year looking so far?

On a guess Rick was that March 20th date from 2012 by any chance? That year we flew out of the gate in early March and we have never come close to the money made for any March since my business started in 1996.

What shows is everyone going to this year and next spring?
John T replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
We did Rick but unfortunately my wife was just diagnosed with Breast cancer. She had the cancerous tumor removed last week and then she starts radiation treatment soon. She's expected to make a full recovery. So I'm bringing Rob Huffman along to the PWRA convention. Looking forward to seeing you bleach kings. -

Tax Topics / Collecting taxes on wash jobs
John T replied to onaprwl's topic in Business Topics & Tips
My state requires that I collect sales tax on most jobs we do because it falls under maintenance. -
Vinyl siding pretty much was a death sentence aluminim siding here. A typical aluminum sided house here will be 30+yrs old. That is why so many of these sided houses have oxidized paint on them and that is why we almost always turn down cleaning them because of the potential problems you very well could have dealing with aluminum. To me the least headaches I can have running my business is what I strive for and aluminum siding has caused me headsches in the past which I just dont need anymore.
-
What soap did you you use on the house and do you have any before pics you can show us? Personally we stay far away from cleaning aluminum sided houses unless they want them prepped to be painted. Reason we stay away from just cleaning aluminum is because the pant on it becomes oxidized and can easily come off during cleaning.

How often you find other businesses stealing your pictures or artwork?

Man that bites Jon. Some people just love misery like that guy and his girlfriend do. They can have their miserable existence together which will bite them eventually. That's the way I see things like this. -
Spots on Driveway after sealing
John T replied to WindowBrite's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Looks like your going to have to strip out the sealer and redo the job probably with a better more reputable sealer being applied. -

Excellent video Mike K. made and great point he also makes in there that this book can be used for employees as well. -
I talked to Dan Galvin probably 6 months ago and he was slated to buy out Envirospec. I thought he said within a year... But maybe he bought them already. Personally Thad I would give him a call to see if he wants to be a PWRA vendor member.
-
We've been buying from Envirospec since the 90's. They still have the best prices around and on top of that I always get my 10% military discount and my monthly bonus bucks which knocks the prices down even more.

This book is going to sellout! Contractors should jump on this before it does!!! -
It was a constant battle to get the "Powers to be" within the PWNA to support the bulletin board. I just built 3 PWNA distributors their own section within the board and they loved it. The final death sentence here came when I was on a conference call and one of the BOD's made it clear that he doesn't give a Shizz about the board. These guys don't like social networking(there stuck in the dark ages). I also had control of their FB page which I was just about to release a private group section for them...that came to a stop as well. There's more to this story of course but to leave it at this.. I completed a BOD term yrs ago for them and the 2nd go around this time wasn't what I expected & to fight to get things done in there was costing me way to much time. So I gave up all of my positions within the org which the President(His words) "Regretfully accepted". I wished them the best of luck and I moved on.

John T replied to MichiganPowerWashing.com's question in The Club House
I had a company in the past swipe my whole website where they just changed my company name to their's but everything else on my website stayed the same for them. This company was from Hawaii. I contacted them and did exactly what Beth said to do above and they complied. -

John T replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Hey Beth-- What parts of the book did you write or is it mixed in all throughout? -
The PWNA Board of Directors never really supported the board so all my efforts that went into creating this bulletin board went up in smoke. I closed the board but did notify the BOD's that if anyone wants to run it I'll give them the passwords and I'll also work with the new admin for a month to help settle him/her in. No one stepped up so the board is probably going to stay closed and then dissolve. To bad because it was doing very well..............
