Restaurant Shooting Victim Remembered
Ron Musgraves replied to One Tough Pressure's question in The Club House
Alan, I have had a tech shot @ one stab and many other altercations. Fortunatly no one was killed, a few years back you may remmeber this post about my guys in the reverse of that story. they found the GM face down shot missionary style in the office at a mcdonalds. The shooter had just left because blood was still pouring from the womens head. All was caught on video for the sum of 300 and some change. Becareful out there at night, I train my people to be aware of all situations. I tell them if they want the truck then let them have it, just run the other direction. -
What is the most effective way to get jobs?
Ron Musgraves replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Matt, Your not suppose to tell my secrets. Most guys will start calling you nuts like me. That a great story Matt, I can testify that it works and couldn’t tell you how many multi store accounts over the years I have gotten. In my corporate agreements I do all new store coming on regular maintenance for free. Matt you may get ridiculed for being a low-baller, I believe this saves me steps. Many of you have seen my post where I require my sales people to give at least one location a week away. Be careful, its not as easy as giving a location away. I would say you need to qualify the potential customer and get a commitment from them if they like the free service they will sign up for regular service. If you get that its almost money in the bank. -

Ron Musgraves replied to Mountain View's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
When first starting I tried to give everyone special attention. I would recommend if you’re new starting out try to personally see everyone. You never know what a 20.00 job can turn into. Those you can’t get to and take care of don’t let them hand, refer them to someone else. At least tell them you’re not interested. I now qualify the customer to meet my needs and practice. There portfolio is a big asset when determining my time and effort. I have the standard cookie cutter corporate agreements with many companies and frankly if they are a larger customer they will come first. Don’t get me wrong in this post I’m committed to performing for all potential clients but let’s face it if you don’t have time then your going for the gravy. I would say I have three classes ABC A being the folks we jump thru hoops. B being important but may wait 48 hours for proposal. C we just send them one and follow up with a phone call or mailer or too. D these people we tell them we are not interested and refer them down the line. I wish it’s was possible to see all customers, Often I rarely meet first time customers. I know that some find this hard to believe but in this busy world it’s not always me that is the one. The customers don’t have time and just want it clean. We mail and fax at least 50 to 75 proposals a week. On top of that we have over 25 thousand measured in our data base and send them regularly. Mostly in oct and nov the proposals increase to as many as we can send depending on our needs to fill spots on routes. This time of the year just depends on our time in office and business needs. Can we call everyone? We try. Can we visit everyone? The ones we want to. I’m not a believer in just running a numbers game. Although for someone starting out it’s a numbers game. We now have the luxury of pin pointing exactly what we want. I have my sales people target the customers we qualify. We have certain criteria for going after a company. My reasons may not be the same as yours nor my needs. Try to keep a balance, play numbers and date the ones you need to or feel are more important. Anyone here says they treat everyone the same? More power to yah, I stopped wasting my time years ago. It’s not easy to determine who you want or not. Some are obvious and some are not. Balance time and make your sales work for you. PowerPoint is powerful, if you have the ability to put one together and actually get in front of the customers they are great. I use videos as most of you know and highly recommend if you have the money and time they work. -
Fl has advantage for taxes, I cant get into details but I wish i lived there. Its better than NV. The S corp has rights to supply records to IRS. LLC in FL are not given to the IRS because FL does not keep the info. S corps alos can be penitrated easier if your not following the rules.

how long do hoses last
Ron Musgraves replied to blackjack21's question in Residential Pressure Washing
any hydrolic store, find a large one and you can get a lease return for a few hundred dollars. I bought two about 10 years agos, one still works like a champ and the one at my other shop has been repaired twice. if you buy new they will run 800 to 2500 depending on the type and brand. -

Buy a hydrolic press, kits work great in the field. I would assume that why most people may be replacing hose early is that they repair with kits instead of press. -

Ron Musgraves replied to blackjack21's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I cant believe i waisted good money for these hydrolic presses. Please send all hoses that break twice to Ronald A ********** @ po box 4092 mesa az 85211 If you want I will gladly take them, please no hoses over 6 months old. I really can’t say because a hose breaks twice you should throw it out. Maybe for some it’s a good idea to inspect the hose. I see what your saying problematic hose does cause down time. I eliminate that by using 300 ft on all rigs and keeping a 100 foot back up. My hoses on the reel are usually one solid 250 or 300 foot length. That its self eliminates more problems. (Less fittings and weak spots) Some may get that and some may see problems with it. I inspect my hoses and record the dates of how old they are when installed on each rig. When repairing we can see it the hose is too old or damaged too much to repair. Keep in mind the most common mistake people make when repairing the hose it that they do not cut the hose past the bad spot. Bad spot is the part that drags on the ground about 6 to 9 feet from the end. This is the part of the hose that receives the most wear. Many times when you get the first hole its in this area or by the gun. I don’t mean to be a jerk about this but simply saying if a hose breaks twice its done is not really a lateral way to judge this, simply because then your really just guessing. I would say if your hose needs repair twice, start looking at the hose a little closer. Carry a back up always so this doesn’t cost you; get the life out of that hose. They are expensive. -

Assuming they want a 15 day service. Couldn’t imagine they would need anything less. 250 per store per month. 20 stores 5000 g’s a month. 45 minutes to 75 minutes. Average per hour 125.00 not bad. The initials if the new construction clean up was properly done could be waived. I live in a metro area so travel time for me doesnt mean anything. if thats the case you'll spend more time rolling in and out than cleaning. -
