Looking for the experts to host there own forum dedicated to that particular field of expertise. *** is searching the globe to find the known guys that have dedicated there life to gaining the knowledge to help instruct and advance the industry even further along. My mission has always been to help others in the industry through conversation BBS or onsite training. Today I would like to take the bulletin board to the next level. If yourself or know of anyone else can help please post or call me personally to talk. Thanks in advance for all the help you have given me over the years and I appreciate all who help on the BBS and other places. -

Poll: What type of pressure washing rig do you use?
Ron Musgraves replied to mdspowerwashing's question in Residential Pressure Washing
[quoteRon, you have 11 trailer units? I guess life's good in Arizona. ] I have been converting to flatbeds, I have two trailers being converted next week onto fords. I have made some mistakes, I started using 1/4 inch diamond plate on earlier trailers. they where way to heavy, i thought. I'm going back to the heavy diamond plate. the 1/8 rusted threw and i almost lost a chemical tank. I stoped using wood years ago, Scott was driving behind me on the freeway and i got a call. your about to loose a hose reel. the wood had completely just fallen apart. That was the day i started conversion. -
I would never recommend cold water washing with gum. If the sidewalk is riddled with gum I can only imagine it would be impossible not to damage with a cold water machine. Here’s the process if you have a hot water machine. Go over the entire area with a surface cleaner. This will expose the gum that will come up easier. This will make the easy gum pink or the brilliant color that the gum actually is. The harder gum will be not as bright and the really tough gum still black. The black gum you want a composite long handled scrapper. Get a variable pressure wand. Ok your ready, pop all the gum off that looks it will come up easy. The harder gums don’t even try to pop it up. Use the composite scrapper on them and get as much as you can. Then go back with the variable pressure wand and lots of heat and remove the residue. Detail the rest of the job and bingo you’re done without risking damaging the surface. I will tell you this, you used the word riddled. This job will take several hours even if it’s small. Gum takes time to remove, stay away from turbo tips trying to remove old gum. There are not safe chemicals that will soften gum. Its just takes low pressure and lots of heat.

I do new home tracks and I will not allow my tech to take trailer in residential areas any longer. Its just about the safety, if the trailer are enclosed then this is a different story. -

In Arizona most units are on open trailers, we have no need to protect anything form the climate except the sun. My fantasy machine would be mounted on a 18 foot flatbed diesel. I have three diesels but none flatbeds. My ford 400’s cant seem to get by a gas station. I had a couple Chevy’s over the years and never really like them. I pick up a couple a few years back at and auction. They have been less maintenance and less fuel to operate. Being a ford guy this is very tough to admit. Keep in mind I’m talking Chevy one tons Not half ton pick ups. Ford is much tougher than Chevy’s half tons. I have still about 11 trailer units that I’m slowly getting rid of. I rent pw also so I will always keep a couple trailer units. When the trucks break down you can always tow a trailer. If I lived back in the cold country I would want all aluminum trailers. No wood and certainly not steel. Of course all enclosed stuff to keep equipment protected. -

Surface Cleaner Questions
Ron Musgraves replied to h2owizards's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
My Video demos you have all seen are done with our demo rig. its only 4 gals a minute. yes get a larger machine or smaller surface cleaner. -
Local and university’s have power washing classes that could help you a ton. These are folks accredited so your work will pay. Look into it, they will be credits you can transfer and apply to another degree down the road. The best class I took was and sales class and an entrepreneur class. Both 202 classes and a photo classes were second, third all my communications courses. I would love to take some firefighting courses just for fun, no time in my life at the present time. The environmental course about waist water pretreatment was good but not very realistic in our field. (This one is often a bigger marketing tool than anything because my competition doesn’t have it.) But I don’t use it.

Is that stuff that brittle? I hate to be you, i would imagine its a tough match and one piece cannot be installed. if its closer to the top it will easier. at the bottom is bad. -
Az, its a percentage of payroll. when i first started it was like 4%, its darn near doubled.
-
That’s not enough money per hour, have we not been through what people need to charge. Do you folks not know how much it takes to run your equipment? Anyway, Beth mentioned the tile color. That’s funny because once I had the repair guy match the color of the dirty tile. When we got done it was black and white grout. I cleaned a kitchen once that thought they had grout. Interiors floors in commercial kitchen run on average about 475.00. Fast food dining room is very easy and can be completed in about 2 to three hours. These front end jobs can run 275 to 375
