Estimates - how do you handle them?
Ron Musgraves replied to Beth n Rod's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Mine are free , I try to give them in hand when its possible. I even try to give demos when possible. some proposals will be acompanied by a video presentation. I have never charged for and estamate ever. I have wanted to on occassion. I have refused estmates, companys that just shop around i dont do estamates. The title for this subject should have said residential customer estimates. I think that points are well made; I always would want to have the homeowner or client present. Reality in commercial work is that this is often impossible for PM. Onsite location managers this is not and issue. I also would not have sold as many commercial accounts if I had waited for the person to present the proposal. Corporate America as much as we would like to thinks about relations is not true anymore. If you’re a reliable responsible company they want corporate structured pricing for units. Purchasing agents make these deals and management chooses between a few select. If I wait to respond to get a manager in person I would loose the proposal to the company that just mailed or faxed it. We have a 48 hour time period from the time a proposals taken to deliver to the customer. Often they are done immediate. -
Belt Drive and at least 5.5 gallons a min. Of course if your doing decks or hoods you wouldnot need that.

Does everybody start out as a "lowballer"?
Ron Musgraves replied to Beth n Rod's question in The Club House
Low-baller (definition By Ron **********) this is a person that runs his or her jobs at a loss. Someone that doesn’t know or understand there cost to operate. They repeatedly take job after job making no money until there 401K or loan money runs out. ( these people actually pay the customer to pressure wash) http://www.pressurewashinginstitute.com/board/upload/showthread.php?t=2673&highlight=lowball another one -

What's the toughest thing to remove?
Ron Musgraves replied to Beth n Rod's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Tony, i can tell you how to prevent them on future jobs. call me sometime Monday. I'm gone this weekend. -
Did you have a written agreement? Start using one today if you were not using one yesterday. If you are using a written agreement simply file the claim yourself in a small claims court. They will need to reply and you will find out the reason they are not paying In 20 years I have never seen so much bankruptcy. This year has been bad; it seems I have received notice after notice. Fortunately none have resulted in a bad situation yet. I have work with some for years and it seems ridiculous they are BK Get a strong letter and send it to them demanding payment. Call over the manager’s head if it’s a company. Send the invoice directly to accounting Call me if you would like I may have some additional info I don’t want to mention here.

No i didnt miss it, I responded. You may be the only one not going there. I look at the tracking that i have on all the bbs and *** still remains 3 by a large margin. Someone may have miss informed you about what make a bbs busy. Traffic and activity are two separate issues. I will admit theres no activity and not much happening. But it does not lack traffic. It does lack TLC>>>>>we know who that is? You have a great Day john, please excuse me for being so correct.

I send about 4000 cards, I don't use the words christmas. We say happy new year or happy holidays. I never have put any promotion or business with these cards. we just thank them and say have a great holiday. I think trying to ad advertisement would take the luster away from this.

Trade shows, all types of folks have shows. from the entertainment industry to restaurants. How about corp. meetings....

You can use them, i have in the past. I do not like the fees. you pay 1.90 per transactions. I just phone the card or text it to my office. We have incripted software for the card numbers we have stored for regular billing. I like taking credit cards, more and more customers want to use them. BIG PLUS. Dont be affraid of paypal. the olny thing i'm affraid of are the fees.

Word of mouth, I wouldnt eat if i relied on that. My mouth would not keep my trucks busy enough. Yellow page ads stink toooooo. I recieve word of mouth jobs but i have to be honest it wouldnt pay my bills. I understand that smaller guys that do residential work might get alot but commercial people are to busy. Getting on vendor lists and doing corporate shows are the ticket. when your on and interanal phone book or approved vendor list thats when you hit pay dirt.

What do you think of this Rig deal on Ebay?
Ron Musgraves replied to Lou Beach's question in The Club House
Good luck, I like e-bay but its to hard to buy large merchandise. I just can't trust it. Thats just me i guess? -
Gross annual 147,680.00 One man average Some may feel this is sensitive but i dont care. its real and i won't argue it just believe it or not. My average is 71.oo per hour per rig. My best man has high grossed 17,500.00 in one month. if you could keep that pace it would be 192,000.00 per year. Tim, I'm not the KING. I'm actually small compared to some of the Giants. Have a great day. I will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
