We have not had good luck in the past with newspaper inserts. Most of our clients are upper middle class and many of them being over 30. A lot of them I find are reading the newpapers online. The retired group of customers even have internet access, The inserts are a one shot deal, if someone doesnt see the paper, it is money wasted. The other issue is the other extreme - what if you got 200 calls for estimates?Ask the paper for references for other business that have done inserts and call them to see the results they get. You can also pick up a paper and stop by the business and a tell them you are in the Pressure Washing Business and you want to speak with them about their insert response you saw in the paper. After you get an anwer, ask them if you can give them a no- obligation proposal for washing the front of their business.
1000.00 payout for a one shot advertising may be a lot for a business just starting out to absorb financially if the return on investment is poor.
Yes I would imagine elderly people being targeted news papers would work.
I read the paper online, funny the apps I use no ads. I have wondered how places like even here will survive because I see no ads any more. Same with Facebook , none
Just a thought, wondering who those 30 years olds are reading ads online?
I have not see an ad in months

John I really wish you well, I hope the campaign brings good to all those who participate.
Looks like a good bunch of guys you assembled. Good luck with the group. I think it will be a hit because you are passionate about the program.
I stand ready to see what you guys foster as good for the industry an humanity. This alone will determine my future I'm sure as others to participate.
Good luck John , if it becomes huge I hope you really can change some lives for the betterment of the industry.
I think Henry did some great things, he worked hard no doubt. In the end what did they help?
I want to see our leaders scholarship a child, help disabled elderly. Assist troubled teens, help homeless vets with maybe a jobs program.
Washing a building standing around it for photo oops doesn't do anything for me. Especially ones contractors get paid to wash.
I hope you do not take my comments negative John , I hope you understand that in my life it's about what good I can actually accomplish. Looks like you have been given a great opportunity. I hope you use it well. If you do regardless of the past people will rally if the project can help someone somewhere.

I was hoping I could get some input on an idea I have been kicking around for awhile. I am considering adding pressure washing to my services. I have a carpet cleaning company in the SLO area of California. I have done quite a bit of pressure washing in the past both as a contractor and for property management and always really enjoyed it. I would like to get a trailerable heated pressure washer (which would actually help me on some of my natural stone and tile cleanings). I feel like this could be a service that would be a good addition. Have you guys seen this work out before, or does pressure washing need to be a full time gig?Call Jerry at sirocco , he has pressure washers at the right price.
You can do just about anything part time. Once you start you will want to be full time.
Good luck you have any questions just call me. I'm in Santa Monica next week.

I was IKECA certified. But to spend an additional $350.00 for another 3 years? Plus membership fees? Just did not seem worth the expense.I appreciate the honesty

Hello Grime Scene,The names Greg and Ive been washing house on and off for a few years. I started out taking almost any odd job dictated by the customer. My customers and their encouragement have helped me tremendously. My first cards and flyers were actually made by customers while I did work for them; I never asked, theyd just come out with ideas eager to help. My name Neighborly Services was actually something a customer had put on a flyer. I consider my customers to be the heart of my business. Having faithful regular customers has enabled me time to sit back and study these boards and provide a more professional services. It was much slower going and more difficult to find the info I needed until I found these boards about a year ago. I started by focusing on cleaning compounds and studying proper equipment so I wouldnt be working from the trunk of a car/jeep. Now I have a trailer rig and soon a web site.
I have experience in wood finishing as a spray technician and went to a tech school for fine woodworking. Woodworking is more of a hobby, because I couldnt get move out of the spray booth once I got good. The difference between working in a spray booth and in the field is like night and day. I have set up spray booths and a line of finishes for a couple of small companies years ago, and thought Id eventually do the same for myself or mobile furniture touch up/repair.
I love working for myself (Neighborly Services), the work is often fun and there are less fumes.
This is getting kind of lengthy so Ill finish by saying thanks!
Ive learned a lot from reading your posts, and I will gladly post here again.
P.S. A message popped up encouraging me to post on here, it worked.
Welcome to tgs Greg

Good goin Sani. As for th Packers....I grew up just 30 miles south of Green Bay. Was really disapointed with the results of yesterdays game. My phone blew up with the texts of disgruntled friends from back home. Sad for Rogers as his record breaking season ended unjustifiably. One bad game and it's all over. Giants just outplayed them. Guess Atlanta should have been there. They wouldn't have liked playing in the cold. Giants may have been used to it and so it didn't hamper their game. Oh well, mabe next year.
Tracy will see what happen in the Sunbrite pool this week
