  1. I've known Dave since 1997, he was close to my family and my birth place in blue island il. Dave was a leader & innovator in our industry.

I remember Dave a someone with real concern for others. I remember Dave's corvette and love for old tractors. When I last spoke with him in November he was playing around with his tractors and talking about a show. He loved people and talking to them.

Dave was a friend and truly a man that will be missed.

    I wish Dave's family peace.

  2. I personally would call Russ johnson when you figure out what direction you want to go.

I wouldn't go to any event until you had a direction.

AC is great if your roof cleaning.

Doug ********** is great for starting stages of pressure washing roof cleaning combined.

Several others here are great. Sunbrite has a school, Russ Johnson has a great Maint course for repairing your own equipment.

By a long shot Doug ruckers school for starting is great.

If your into fleets Paul k and Blaine are the best in the business.

There's also a guy in ky that might teach you and show you the ropes. His name is Michael k.

I personally would attend acr Tom vogels round because out of most rounds I have attended his equipment demos are great. Toms experience like Paul's k from the powerwashstore they both sell and actually are contractors.

Nola round table has great resources, wcra is a great resource with Chris l running the show. For 350 bucks you can join his group and get every penny back. Actually the bbs his has provides much more info than most of these bbs. Thad runs the Nola event that is a ton of industry guys who all run contractor business. They will have lots of advice and some programs they sell additional.

Nola has a starting roof and pressure washing course I cannot give a reference on this because there is no feed back. Most Nola content like all These shows have more positives than negatives. The people running the training I'm sure will do a good job.

AC courses in Florida have many instructors. The all around residential course that's the most proven. Standards that build a great foundation for success.

I personally until you know your direction would just attend a round table not a seminar at this point until you know what direction your wanting to go. Continue to research here and other places.

If you ask more specific questions I'm happy to help. I no nothing about residential but there are guys here with lots of wood restoration and exterior cleaning. Lots of Kec help here also.

If you need sidewalk cleaning for commercial that's my specialty.

  3. Thanks Beth Please Watch My video

I think you have potential Ron. But I think your biggest strength may also be your biggest weakness. My advice, always make sure to take a step back and listen. You are an extremely dynamic highly energetic and forward moving person. But you also have a tendency to do things your way. This is my only concern. This is why I say, make sure you always take a step back, listen, consider and realize it won't always be done your way. I mean no offense. I have known you for years. I have seen you do many different things and sometimes that has sent mixed signals to the industry. Your wanting to step into this roll means that some of that has to change. You'll have to follow Roberts Rules of Order, etc. Now maybe my concerns are for naught. Hopefully they are. Hopefully you do a bang up job. Just remember, it's a different hat you'll be wearing.

I do support you, and wish you the best. Good luck.

    Beth

  4. Integrity , one word Matt.

I think having 9 actual honest people with high morals prevents impropriety from occurring.

Can nine men transpire and evil plan ? Yes perhaps they could.

For some in this industry it's just hard to understand for some why men have a passion to serve. Once you have opened your heart to the process and buy into it the return is great. I'm not talking financial rewards, I'm talking about knowing you helped another person a success.

In the traditional sense will have a committee that checks in on the bod.

I'm open to fully recorded meeting and public ones if the state and bylaws allow.

There's nothing in the ***** that's going to be a secret.

I think in the past these meeting have frankly been closed because no ones really doing anything. ( not talking about current *****) the industry as a whole.

I can't see any business other than conduct issues being private from general membership.

Each bod has a vote, the integrity of nine men making choices to move the industry forward with integrity.

  5. I have read a lot about different power washing systems. I have narrowed my search between Power-Tek and Hosty. Although I have not figured out my exact specifications, I like what I have read about both products. One thing that is a little troubling is I don't have a Power-Tek dealer in my area. Hosty on the other hand is an hour or so away. How much do you guys rely on your local dealers? Is maintenance fairly easy on these brands. Is there typical things that go wrong that are easy fixes? I'm not mechanically inclined but I have recently started changing my oil on my JD tractor..lol I look forward to hear your input

Just seen your from maine , your close to a distributor that has a networking event close. He also sells Hydrotek , not sure if he offers service yet but he sells the machines and has a seminar.

I'm sure he will explain how to attend I don't have the link.

    www.contractorevents.com

    www.nationalcleaningexpo.com

These are some other options for future events.

Check the new York or pa event out.

There's a group in nj that have thrown a few from time to time.

Shout if you have other question I'm always around.

  6. The minutes at Pwna is great. Helps also keep accountability on entire staff that's hired as well.

Especially when customer service issues happen.

I thought you had knew about those Doug, those are the same blogs about issues in Houston.

It's a great idea, frank set that site up and they have great skills. Maybe we can hire them to help with implementing this type of 21 st century assurance to ***** if the members choose us to help.

  7. Bingo.. To be a great president you have to be passionate, give a damn and learn to listen because if your really good then the people you surround yourself should be the best and the brightest in there respective fields.

Ron if he wants to be a good president he needs to take criticism and learn from it. He has to step up to the plate and be able to know when to swing or not and at what cost... Ron has to have a uniter personality and not a search and destroy attitude. He should strive to be the best and others will follow.. He should never lead by making others look bad or denouncing other orgs within this industry.. Ron needs to change in some ways and then with his energy things will happen.. I'm skeptical about Ron being a good team player. I think Rons strengths is being the boss for a private entity. His weekness by far is going to be fair-minded with a group of his peers when he has that my way or the highway approach.

I only know one guy who could beat him if he really wanted to and this guy is a star who owns one of the largest window cleaning and pressure washing companies in NY.. His name is Jim Grady from the PWNA at ome time and was a past president of the IWCR... I'm going to probably hook up with him in New Orleans next year...

Back to this if Ron can change his attitude and stop calling other people liars and just stay away and not entertaining the garbage and just focus in and stay that way he will win.. And once that happens he would need to just stay focused.. I think that's going to be tough but if he really wants it... It can happen.

John I think I'll just say thanks. Hope your feeling better, get some rest.

  8. I think Ron would make a great president for an Org, he has a lot of experience in this industry and has a passion for what he does. I do feel that working together will be the biggest thing that will make it an sucess.

I think Beth has some valid points that should be consider too, a great president is a great servant, and must be willing to listen and analize things.

Thanks jay for the support, I'm sure this bod will listen and hear its members.

I'm hope I can serve the members and help this industry move forward. With good people willing to help we can move this org to the next level. I hope Jay you can join us.

  9. There are a few things I don't like about the Hotsy. The angle iron frame is a bit suspect to me. Really, tubing is a lot stronger, and looks better, but that is my personal bias. Also, there pumps, like Landas pumps are proprietary. The Hotsy hawk pumps are a bit more difficult to get parts for, though.

I know nothing about Pressure Tek machines. I am not sure that I have ever seen one.

Scott now that you own a landa you clearly see a huge difference from the rest?

I think someone local if your not able to repair is crucial.

I however have been fortunate not to rely on local dealer.

If I was in your shoes I might go local because that support might make or break you.

Maint is not that tough and there are service schools in various parts of the country.

Understand you will likely pay 25% more local. Hotsy is a great machine and would be my choice if those where the only two.

I personally prefer landa , Hydrotek is also very good and easy to work on.

Some here will tell you that a machine in a machine all the Same parts. True on the cheaper made units. They are all the same stuff, junk. Once you get a landa you will know why they are a Cadillac of machines. Some of mine are over 25 years old and still running. Of course components replaced. The skid itself have held up.

Hydrotek is probably the contractors choice. Most likely wouldn't buy anything less if I was going to do commercial work.

Give Russ or Tom a call. They can help with a Hydrotek. Tom Vogel has a networking meeting each year and you can see the machine in action.

Do not buy anything less than 6 Gpm 3500 psi if your going to do commercial.

The Hotsy is a great machine. New you can get one for 4500 to 5700.

    Good luck

  11. I belong to various orgs Beth, customer and charity. I ran the sultans or Arizona Baseball for under privilege youth for six years. We took state championships and built a few Boys into men. We took the org from 14 kids to 144 with over six teams competing. This was one of the most rewarding times in my life helping youth. Sultans joined another successful group a friend runs and still going strong. I'm still active when called on. The organization is supported by the community and successful.

I was visited by a few of these boys recently and most are doing well.

I have an affiliation with girls alliance we have a project feed the homeless. Last year we fed 1000 people with Girls who themselves are homeless for various reasons.

I have served on many other customer oriented associations. Unfortunately because of past issues with individuals here I will not disclose my positions.

I'm super active in my own community outreach programs and donate dollars on a regular basis to many charities. If you want the list its large, most would just think its bragging. So I will not list them just show you my most recent donation.

I have also belong and started other associations for recreation, AWBT was a started by my office manager years ago. I helped them fund the org my night clubs and Bars was there first member. I walked them through the process because I had already done it before. I was a recreation pool player so its was exciting for the women association to get started. Of course i was not on there BOD because I was a man.

I run my own charities with Propowerwash that are on going. Started these in 1998 for my own companies to do good for all people in my own community. This was a couple projects and other orgs we assisted and continue working with. I have received countless awards and recognition for my efforts and others efforts. I'm proud or what I have accomplished and others i have touched. 48d0aa61-50d4-bb8a.jpg48d0aa61-50e9-417c.jpg48d0aa61-513b-1787.jpg

I'm sure some here will turn this post negative as its all about ME ME ME , I'm proud of what I have been able to do for my community hope i can always help my fellow man.

I'm proud that my most recent achievement of NCE joining make a wish with my fellow contractors raising over 5500 and Propowerwash charity Raising over 2200 at the NCE event in Tampa 2011. Of course without others involved your dreams can never happen. Without others supporting you and believing in you its hard to make things like this a reality. I look forward to meeting this young man and thanking him for having a wish thus giving us the strength unite.

Its pretty exciting looking at the future, retire in 2014 may. I look forward to doing more.

    wish1.jpg

Something Special is being worked on for all the washers who supported and helped raise the money to make this wish come true.

    Ron,

Why not tell us all about the other orgs you served, what you did, etc.

And I did get your text, I was working. Sorry, business first.

    Beth

Here's are ongoing work with various children women and organizations we are actively involved in on regulars basis. Each and every month My company and myself helps various organizations.

  12. Can we borrow the Mind for detail Jet? Its a write off

Any org business someone will re-write my documents. Just like in my business I have staff that see my punctuation is correct. Posting on and Internet bbs I'm going to just be the same guy I have always been. Most pw guys are not road scholars or liberal arts majors.

For any Org. business, I will have someone proof and prepare my documents. In my business, I have staff to verify mygrammar and punctuation are correct. Thank goodness I don't have to do it much longer.

I think my ability to spell or writes not going to hinder my ability to serve my fellow contractors. It's a weakness I know and when I need help I'll get someone to assist.

I think that my ability to spell, or write is not going to hinder me in serving my fellow contractors. It is a weakness, and I know I have it. When I need help, I get someone to help me.

No press release from the bod will go out to members without approval steps of editing. Everyone can make mistakes no matter how well you may think you write.

No press release of communication from the BoD will go out without approval and editing. Everyone but Scott can make mistakes, no matter how well you may think you write. Okay, my wife thinks I am a horrible writer, but she is a frustrated school teacher.

Speaking of mess have you read the website? I stopped reading after a few paragraphs so much incorrect things that even I saw it.

Speaking of mess, have you read the ***** website? I stopped reading after a few paragraphs, because there were so many incorrect things, that even I saw them.

I was wondering who might have done that, no one person if I'm president will control any of that. Systems and procedures need implemented so the industry can raise the standards.

I was wondering who did that. Not one person will control any of it, if I am president. Systems need to be implemented so that the industry can raise standards.

Does roger own a tie? If I'm in charge the entire bod and committee members will photo in formal attire.

Does Roger own a tie? If I am president, the entire BoD and committee members will provide photos in business attire Personally, I don't think tuxedos are appropriate, even for an organization as elite as the *****

Bod members will have to travel at the start on there own dime. I plan on representation at the world of concrete in jan and apartment show in feb.

BoD members will have to travel to events at their own expense. I plan on representation at the world of concrete in January, and apartment show in February. Boy, I am glad that if I am on the board I get to travel with Ron on his private jet. The advanatages of living close to the evil emporer...(Just kidding) We really are friends, even when I throw barbs at him, continually

The bod I have assembled and understand that we are going to move and not stop moving. It's not going to be like the past.

The BoD I have assembled, understands that we are going to move, and not stop moving. It is not going to be like it was in the past.

  13. I appreciate the tips John, as well if I need any free advice I know you phone works.

    Thanks for the heads up

Hey Ron you want to get a fast education in this process I have to dig it out in my closet but you can find it on the net. It's Roberts rule of orders I think it was called. Carry out all your dreams and idea's and also know the inner workings of a non profit. Someone I know here started to form a non profit but they gave up and started an LLC instead because there much easier.. But if you want to grow large in membership at least from what I know.. The non profits people want to volunteer for...and you still can have paid positions in there so the theory that non profits won't work because people just volunteer and they get fed up.. Well successful one can have a paid board...and hundreds of volunteers on committees. That is way down the road.

You win your the face and where the members.. And members Want there board and leaders to succeed because it benefits them.. So no matter what I wish you success because besides anything else...I am ***** member that could use like everyone else..some more bang for the buck..as in Benny's.

  14. You see its pretty easy, your guys are worried about Ron Control. I'm only going to accomplish what you all want. Yes when the BOD/ membership is deadlock I get to make a choice.

Balance is what this is called. Wouldn't dream about any other way.

Good to see we might have a strong oversight committee. You want to head that Thad?

    Too early for puns, Celeste!

    :p

Ron is very driven (some would say pushy) but he doesn't even get a vote on anything unless the board is tied. And there shouldn't be any issue as long as the Oversight Committee is doing their job.

Who is running for Oversight Committee?

  15. Beth I agree that its a very important spot, last week it wasn't. They where talking if no one wanted the job let it go into a forum like *** or TGS.

So I decided to give it a Shot. I text you for your support the other day because I hope you know I would make you proud and do the right things.

You have been in these spots before and was looking forward to having a friend for advice that has experience in these matters.

I have BOD experience with other orgs in the past, not one in my own field. Its always seemed to run a bit different, I hope I can change this and raise the standard like I have for 27 years in my own business.

If I get elected I hope I can make you proud. If I don't and someone beats me I only hope then can do the same and I will support them.

    Ron -

It would not be YOUR BOD. It would be the MEMBERS BOD. The BOD serves the members. The members vote you in, and if the by-laws are not upheld, then they should indeed have a voice to get anyone out.

If I seem skeptical, well, I am. I have seen many things in this industry and I have always raise the bar high.

I would also like to see someone run against you. Again, the position is much too important for you to run unopposed.

    Beth
