  1. Check with your local EPA Agencies for the correct answers. DO NOT TAKE ONE CITY OR COUNTY AND THINK IT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND. Usually if it is too strict, it usually does not get enforced and gets over turned in a short amount of time.

We should not be standing behind those who fight for these regulation then Jim .

The folks who started this one started many others.

Let's see if it can change in the future based on you recent statements.

    Thanks

  2. Before anyone gets all excited, First I have not heard of anything about Wood Decks or reclaim from power washing a wood deck. I have heard about spills and having the contractor be responsible for cleaning that mess up the same way as if a painter dumped 5 gallons of oil base paint.

This thread sounds like a scare tactic to get everyone all work up. Nothing new.

Check with your local EPA Agencies for the correct answers. Do not take anyones word on any BBS and especially DO NOT TAKE ONE CITY OR COUNTY AND THINK IT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND. Usually if it is too strict, it usually does not get enforced and gets over turned in a short amount of time.

BMP's need to be reasonable and rational to stay on the books.

I'll politely ask you not to make insinuation about getting others excited.

My track record has proven time and time again and again truth!!!

The reality is that they one have no guidance from anyone or the wrong guidance.

Without disrespect to anyone I do not know particulars. This was also months ago, if you look at the original post on Facebook it's old.

The group I worked with are clear to wash without reclaim by there pollution dept.

Keep in mind this it a state agency. They actually have jurisdiction on private property.

Since your the Pwna representative maybe you could call get the numbers and names like I have gotten and get the scoop. Things can change on interpretation over night. My calls where made months ago, maybe you can deliver good news.

I will ask you respectfully discrediting each other does nothing. Serves no purpose and makes everyone look un professional.

Myself and the www.*****.org will remain focused to help all contractors distributors and customers to find answers to resolve problems. Not to argue or incite others as you have so boldly suggested.

If you check history many attempts prior to this one has requested even simple house washing be reclaimed. The www.*****.org along with local support from other organization prevented reclaim on homes in 2010 in north carolina.

Counties and other cities have been successful too, there's nothing new here. All these to my knowledge have changed stance.

We need to work together with each other to keep the industry profitable. Regardless of our differences!

The issue is they eventually realize the relationship is not sustainable. The problem with this often damage is done. We need a program to prevent instead of react. This is when we as leaders will be affective to our industry. Together we should all be working towards our common goals.

You last sentence says it all!!

  3. From what I have heard, this is something that other cities are looking into as there are scare tactics being used all around the country and the cities want to be safe and protect their citizens.

Ron did a lot to help out the city of Houston, sounds like that city needs some help also.

With all that Ron does to help this industry, I hate to think what will happen when Ron retires in a few years or less and the "heros", "most respected", "most experienced", etc.... don't have a clue what to do to help the city as they just sat and watched or actually helped caused the problem.

With everything happening in Houston, it seems like the people that focus on wood restoration are just sitting back thinking that the stuff happening in Houston will never happen to them because they are not in Houston, they do wood restoration, not concrete cleaning, they don't have anything running off into storm drains, etc..... Looks like the reality is here now and time to think about what to do.

Oh it's not the first time Chris , happened in Nc . They got stopped before they could get it off ground

  4. After reading, it doesn't seem to apply that much to house washing. Chlorine isn't among the contaminants they are talking about, and doesn't pose any heavy metal risk. As long as you're not blasting lead paint, I don't see a real issue. There may be some concern for rust removal and surface cleaning. Whatever the case, someone should step up and try to nip this in the bud.

They specifically said verbally they are concerned with Painter & guys restoring wood. Did you read the bottom of the card? now this was Six months ago, maybe since then the local guys have made some sense to them about this?

Adam in Florida you have some responsible authorities, all pretty good people.

  5. Ron **********'s Photos | Facebook

This was a Card sent to PW , painter from Pollution control dept. Same type of folks in Houston, enforcement devision for offenders.

I'm sharing this not to cause a riot, its just awareness. Frankly I'm tired of ridiculous confusion by our industry leaders and Contractors alike.

A couple people in MN have reached out for help, I have looked into it. YES i Recorded the conversation for the guys who always doubt. They are interested mainly in Wood restoration contractors not reclaiming the striping and cleaning process.

    Just FYI

Please keep the thread Clean, this was just a FYI

  6. What a Change in Direction now.

In Arizona most units are on open trailers, we have no need to protect anything form the climate except the sun.

My fantasy machine would be mounted on a 18 foot flatbed diesel. I have three diesels but none flatbeds. My ford 400’s cant seem to get by a gas station.

I had a couple Chevy’s over the years and never really like them.

I pick up a couple a few years back at and auction. They have been less maintenance and less fuel to operate. Being a ford guy this is very tough to admit. Keep in mind I’m talking Chevy one tons Not half ton pick ups. Ford is much tougher than Chevy’s half tons.

I have still about 11 trailer units that I’m slowly getting rid of. I rent pw also so I will always keep a couple trailer units. When the trucks break down you can always tow a trailer.

If I lived back in the cold country I would want all aluminum trailers. No wood and certainly not steel. Of course all enclosed stuff to keep equipment protected.

    Nice looking Guy, really good

We have used open trailers from get go. Much easier to work out of. We have air blow outs on all of our units and tarp them in the Winter.

Our new units this year have been built for versatility and speed. Each trailer is set up with one 8 gpm hot skid and one 8 gpm cold machine, although this may sound like overkill the time savings have been outstanding and have already paid for themselves.

  7. Hi all,

This is my first post so will try to tread lightly. It seems like a great forum and community here. I appreciate any feedback someone can give to point me in the right direction.

I've been in my home for about a year and it's needing a good cleaning now. It's all vinyl siding and eaves. There's a brick facade in the front that doesn't look bad. No gutters. I purchased this unit from Sam's recently. At 2.4 gpm and 2700 psi it's nothing fancy by the standards here but is hopefully sufficient for my needs.

I tried using it with two different chemicals, Krudcutter and Zep house washes. The Krudcutter didn't work as it requires 10:1 mixing and my machine automatically is at 20:1. The Zep didn't seem too effective either. After trying both of those my house is maybe 40% clean.

After doing a lot of reading and talking to friends about the pro methods used on their houses, soft washing and downstreaming seem like the only ways to go. If possible, I'd like to set up my machine to do it. My two questions are:

    1. Is a downstream injector like this from pressuretek all that's required? I have a "6 in 1" nozzle very similar to this that has 0* and 40* soaper nozzles.

    2. Is the machine I chose decent for my needs? I was mainly sold by the Honda engine. I have one on my mower so parts/maintenance are the same. I could still return it though for something better around the $300 mark. With the 0* soaper and rinse tips, it reaches the 2nd story peaks just fine.

    3. Will running a typical housewash mix containing bleach be harmful to my gun or hose?

Again, I really appreciate any tips. Let me know if I missed any crucial info.

Send me your address will ship you one out Monday doc .. Free

  8. start.... to what though? No one has mentioned that wood resto in the south can be much different from the north.

Jim or Rick or Beth Or Rod may find that they do not have to do resto the exact same way down here because of climate issues.

vice versa for us south holes.

just saying....... geo and climate are issues always going to be a variable in determining "best" status. Thats why I think qualified and capable are more operative.

This is not an easy facet of the industry, we somehow make it look as if it is because many of us have over a hundred miles of wood resto.

Is Eddie Van Halen the best? or Joe Satriani? or Steve Vai, Or Chet Atkins, or Roy Clark, or Dave Mustaine, or john petrucci, or eric johnson or John5.

    Hard call really....

I think you have good info for a new directory though..... he he he.

    My links at the bottom.

Didn't come up with a number one Adrian , as I said from the start no contest. This will actually be a top list. Have not decided to include all or only those who got two or more recommendation by peers.

Will see what the committee formed for co-op promotion says about it.

    Thanks for being involved.

  9. I'm not starting this Thread to have conflict or arguments.

I need to know who You think the best three contractor are.

Please do not include yourself, if you want to remain private PM me.

If you can't come up with three please list who ever.

    Be respectful to everyones choices.

If the person is not here on this BBS thats ok, please however include a Facebook or Email if I should need to contact.

Yes it has something to do with promotion and story. If you list someone expect that you might get a call about why you selected them.

Thanks for all your help, TGS is the place for Wood restoration Specialist.

Had about 22 guys 62 emails One man 42 recommendation, I realize there are more. This was a Great Start

    Thanks All

  10. John Hundreds of sites one the Web blog info off others Sites for Various reasons. Facebook is just the largest site that does it, might actually Be Youtube.

HERE IS HUNDREDS THAT ARE COPIED FROM EVERYWHERE ON Pressure washing Institute. Media - Pressure Washing Institute

People get hired from these Blogs, you should ask your customers next time John.

This site has credited content, I think there's a large difference when continued links an credit not given.

What if you give permission for someone to copy something off your site wouldn't that be hurtful to you also?

According to this below it would only seem logical to not even let your site be copied even with permission? So being a nice guy here can bite you in the butt, can that be true??

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

    STOLEN CONTENT HURTS YOUR RANKINGS

Stealing copy from other sites is not only ethically wrong and often illegal; it is also not doing you any favours in the search engine arena. Search engines like Google try to rank websites as usefully as possible. In order to provide the highest quality results to their users, they try to eliminate spam sites and non germane sites from their results page. If a Google-bot crawls your page and goes, “Hmm… this copy appears verbatim on 221 other pages,” it’s going to rank your site much lower than someone else’s site that has unique copy on it.
