Thinking of upgrading to a hotwater skid. Question on supply water
map_911 replied to coachcollins42's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have just went through this and bought a 200 gallon tank for my supply. I wish I would have looked in the grime scene more on this subject and would have bought a 10 to 25 gallon tank instead. A big tank takes up too much room and if your not going to use the whole tank it's a waste in my opinion. All you need is something small for a buffer so the pump is not starved. As for the size hose 3/4" should be fine, purchase a hudson float valve to cut the water off when it reaches full level. -
Thanks for the input Tracy, I pretty much know how I would like it and with a 5 X 10 ' trailer it's going to be tight. I also have to either weld or mount brackets for a couple of ladders, tool box, and surface cleaner so getting to the PW to downstream with 5 gallon containers maybe blocked by all the equipment in the way. I guess I will figure it out, I just wanted someone who may have went through all of this and determined a good configuration. I'll send pictures when it's complete, thanks again.

Hello Grime Scene, Just got a hot water skid for my 5' X 10' open trailer and would like to know what direction to mount the unit for accessibility and if makes a difference if the hot box is in a forward or backward direction to where your chemicals are located. Any help would be appreciated.

Ron,
Quick question, do you buy your pressure washers or build them?
Thanks, Mark

Thanks everyone for your input, I've been loooking at the setups of several manufactures to come up with a good piece of equipment at the lowest price and the best quality and this unit has both. Originally I wanted a 20+ HP Honda and seen that most of the Grime scene community had Vanguard/B & S, Kohler for the horsepower. Russ this has the vertical burner and I've heard a couple of things about them like leaking fuel into the bottom and forming a puddle if your tips have buildup but Paul says it's just personal preference. I do like the diagnostic center, it could point you to the problem very easliy.

I'm thinking on purchasing an Allison hot/cold skid and was wondering how the performance and reliability of the vertical burner with the 18 HP Vanguard and GP TS2021. If anyone has this skid can you tell me some info on this please. Thanks.

I'll recheck the direction and look at the ball and spring again. -
Chemical Injector problem
map_911 replied to map_911's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
When I bought this 3 years ago I used it a few times until I got the X-jet, so it hasn't been move since until I took it off and cleaned it. I just read up on an old post and I am using another gun that I purchased this fall and believe this could be the problem according to what was pointed out from others. It works with out the pressure washer on and I even took off the chem tip as it is running to see if it made a difference. Also pulled the hose off the outlet (washer off) and nothing. appreciate any proposals -
My chemical injector is not working properly, I haven't used it in some time because of X-jetting so I took it apart and cleaned it and the ball was stuck and figured that was the problem. When I started up I just used supply hose presure to see if the soap was flowing and it worked perfect. Started up the washer and nothing, I took the injector hose off and pushed down on the ball with a pick and the gun on and water shot out the barb. There was no suction from the barb at all, I'm sure its something meaningless and it's probably in the archives here somewhere but can anyone give me a clue. :o Thanks for the help

For the past year I've used the customers water straight into my pressure washer pulling it around the house. I'm upgrading my equipment and getting a water tank with hose reels to do a faster job. I would like to know a good plumbing set up. I haven't bought the reels or the tank yet but was looking at the 3/8" steel eagle reels and stacking them. What size of hose do you use coming out of reel going to the tank and do you use a certain bulkhead fitting, ball valve or fitting? I would appreciate any help and if the reels I am about to purchase are good reels. Thanks, Mark

Hello grime scene, My name is Mark and I've been pressure washing over the summer and fall part time to help out. I have worked in the maintenance field for 20 + years and have done some pressure washing here and there but haven't done this full time for a living. I've been reading a lot of the threads that pertain to house washing, some flat work and equipment and there's a great deal of info to take in and I appreciate all the knowledge that everyone donates to the grime scene that I read. I don't want to sound like I'm handicapped at PW but I need help. I know I need better equipment but was waiting until the beginning of the year so I could pick and chose the right gear because I have limited cash and want to research more but I still have jobs every other week and it is killin’ me. I just had a two story house to wash (vinyl siding) and they needed the gutters cleaned also and probably never had them cleaned but were full. I figured to be there 4 to 5 hours because I’m a newbie, I left 5 hours later and I’m still not done. After getting all the crud out and being drenched with the sludge I used some gutter zap on the total black outer surface. I didn’t use the X-jet for this, I have a sprayer and when you have to climb the ladder and scrub on top of that it’s not a good thing. There’s got to be a better way to clean the inside and out, I used a gutter attachment and a telescoping wand and that stinks. Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself and hope you’re not laughing your tail off. I still have a bunch of questions from new equipment to a good house wash concoction (they have no SH here in Charlotte, NC). Thanks again, Mark
