The K10 (ZK1) unloader only has one size bypass port it is rated for 2.4 -10.8 GPM (they only make one). You are probably confusing it with the K7 or K5 which is sized closer to the flow of the machine. For the cycling on the K10 I would check 2 things...Leaks like everyone mentioned, or if the bypass line is too big that can cause it to cycle also. Reccommended size is 1/4" on the bypass line.

Siphon blowing instead of sucking?
Paul Kassander replied to Gary Day's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
There is a check ball and o ring seat inside the barb the chemical tube connects to. If the ball is damaged or the oring is missing it will not seal when under pressure and you will fill the bucket with water. We carry a repair kit for the injectors which consists of a ceramic ball spring and viton oring which fits most injectors. 5000RK -
Ready For A 8gpm Skid
Paul Kassander replied to Lightning Gene's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Very easy to work on everything is out in th open so you don't have to take half the machine apart to change an unloader or anything like that. You really need 27.36 hp for a 8.6 @3500 psi so we decided it was best to just go with the 30 hp. The price difference wasn't significant enough to even consider under powering the unit. Shipping is not included but if you give me a call I can get you a total with shipping. -
Ready For A 8gpm Skid

It sounds like a HI-Lo nozzle(scroll down about half way on the page). There are several different varieties, you use them with a down stream chemical injector and switch from high to low pressure with a push-pull of the nozzle. Downstream is a more efficient way to apply the chemical to the surface compared to an xjet because it allows you to leave the chemical on the truck and not have to drag the buckets around. And yes you can get the same type of draw rates with a downstream injector as an x jet you just need the right one (super suds sucker) The hi-lo nozzle is nice because you can just twist it to go from a 0 degree to a wide spray pattern. I have been using them for several years and like the adjustably of the fan. They don't last forever but I have found them to be the best overall tip to use to prevent having to change tips constantly and keep from losing quick connects in employees pockets all the time.

I bet when you did that you were never expecting anything in return...that is the real reward. You helped without thought of yourself, congratulations. Good deeds always seem to come back tenfold.

You can make your own simple unit with a drain seal and pickup pump. Or make a custom insert for the drain with a sump pump. If you need to pickup off the ground with no real area to act as a sump you are going to have an much more difficult time of making or finding something for under $3000 that is worth purchasing.

Plex master, works real good and has high dilution ratios. I have been using this product for about 6 years now. I used to use it in my stationary truck wash before I sold it. It makes an excellent vehicle spray wax also because it really enhances the shine and goes a long way. Plus it doesn't build up yellow over time like some of the other spray waxes will. If you scroll down this page you can read about it.

Actually I put a bid in on a condo project in my area last year and offered that as one of my services. I got a call from them today saying that they are ready to go with me even though I was higher, partially because I was providing the protective wax sealer with mildew retardants with my service. It should be a good job too about 20 buildings or so.

In some cases you can add it as an extra add on and charge for it. I know some people will list it as an extra but throw it in with the wash as a "Freebie" if you sign by... I will typically do a complete service with a house wash, I sell it as an all inclusive wash.

I am also working on a new section that will make it easy for everyone to find the various breakdowns for their pumps and accessories. I'm not completely done yet but here is a link. Envirospec/Envirospec North 877-351-1238

What Health Insurance Do You Carry?
Paul Kassander replied to PressurePros's question in The Club House
Ken, look into HSA insurance they offer great coverage and big savings. I set myself and employees up on the plans. For a family of 5 I spend about $10k last year. The way they are set up you purchase an insurance plan which goes into effect after you meet your deductible for the year (the HSA portion). What is nice is if you don't use up your deductible the money carries over to the next year and you don't have to fund the whole $3000 again unless you want to. The coverage and Dr's are the same as a standard plan but your "insurance" portion payments are lower since you are responsible for the first $3000 or so. Then they cover 100% or 80% depending on how you set it up. I used Fortis but not sure if they are available in your area. Just check with your regular insurance carrier they usually have several plans they can offer. Or check with an employee benefits company. -
Vacuum Maintenance
Paul Kassander replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I will usually put it on the ground in the waste stream so it mixes in slowly, i will use less and it seams to do the best job. -
Vacuum Maintenance
Paul Kassander replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
You are correct they do require some maint, but not too bad. I have a dual vac system and it is the only way to go if you use the vacuboom. In 6 years I think I replaced 3 motors, most in the first few years. What usually caused the problem was the foam caused by the combo of air flow and soap. A little de-foamer and pre damming solved a lot of those problems. -
Snow Plowing, will this truck work????
Paul Kassander replied to mas3372's topic in Snow Plowing, Deicing and Holiday Lighting
2wd will work fine I plowed with one for about 5 or 6 years. Just make sure that you have plenty of weight in the back and good tires. The only time you will have any problems is in the real wet heavy stuff, but you can work through it if you are careful. We got another 4-7 coming tommorow...ugh 24 years of this, kind of like the washing, if the money wasn't so good I'd think about hanging it up. But it does pay for a new truck every other year, not too bad for 50-60 hours of work a year. -
Higher oil prices mean lost profits
Paul Kassander replied to Beth n Rod's topic in Industry News & Events
You can recover some of the cost of the fuel by filing a 8849 and 8849 schedule 1 fuel tax form, or the annual 4136 which is taken off as a deduction on your taxes (federal). Be sure to file the state tax forms as well in many cases they are higher than the federal (look under excise tax on your state website). All of the fuel that is used in your pressure washers is exempt from road tax since it is all off road usage. The following web addresses can be used to get the forms to file for a fuel tax refund. Remember it is for fuel used in off road applications only, not your vehicles. Well put Scott. Most of the failures that I have seen over the years is due to the inability to understand the overall business operation and the expectations that you can take off whenever you feel because your the business owner. This business is definitely a 24-7 lifestyle.

I built a unit with garage door openers and relays once and it worked good but sometimes the signal could not reach the equipment because the trailers blocked it so I stopped using it after a few years(wasn't worth the maint). The one thing I did do for chem switching that did work good was use extension cord with a three way switch to go step 1/step 2/ off... that worked good. Eventually I just settled on the 2 man crew 1 guy step 1, one guy step 2 then both rinse back or 1 soap-1 rinse. Getting back to the question...Dema makes some banked manifolds, but be careful what you wish for you just might have spend your time fixing it.

Reducing shock/vibration on homemade skid unit
Paul Kassander replied to Chris S's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If you are making a belt drive you want to mount it on a single solid power plate. Pay special attention to the structure of the length of the plate running parallel with the belts. It may be fine when sitting or not under load but once you pull the trigger you may see the plate flex and the belts will become to be loose. This causes a lot of vibration and damage to your equipment. Reinforce this direction with either angle iron or bends on the plate to add rigidity. After you have built this power plate you can mount it on rubber feet for vibration dampening or if you plan on attaching it to another frame use the vibration dampeners that have bolt coming out of the top and bottom with rubber in between. -
Sound like a low oil sensor issue to me.
