I hate cold weather
Paul Kassander replied to CoastalHydro's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
To get full pressure and gpm you will need 18 hp. If you are willing to compromise on gpm or pressure you can still power it witha 13hp. The cool drive unit has a ts2021 2500psi at 5.6gpm http://mobicleaninc.com/store/category/btvf/Engine_Powered_Cold_Water.html Here is a link to give you a basic idea of what kind of power you need for various pumps, just page through to the rpm you are looking for. http://www.envirospec.com/pdfs/pump.pdf -
I learned about that when I was 14 and was trying to clean out a drain, never again!!!

Question about equipment
Paul Kassander replied to suzuki98's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
The cool drive is a really nice machine but go with the 2500psi at 5.6 gpm you will be much happier with that and you will not notice the difference in pressure. Here is a link with some more info. http://mobicleaninc.com/store/category/btvf/Engine_Powered_Cold_Water.html -
Rapid reels are really durable and a bit thicker gauge than most, I like mine. I would stay away from the swivel base if it is trailer mounted though, too much bouncing and they start to bend. If you solid mount them with the tube base you can stand on them without any problems.

Try a hydrolic action gun they are worth the investment if you are using the gun all day. I use the YRL 50 or 55 and a HI Tech 5000 or YG 5000 because of the thinner grip, it is easier to hold with gloves and smaller hands. The Hitech easy pull is also very comfortable.

If it leaks you need a new head. If you need a new head you can just about replace the entire pump for that cost. You could try to braze it but ore than likely the time and cost will be as high too. I don't know the psi or pressure you are running but we have a great deal on ts2021 pumps right now as well as som AR and Comet. http://mobicleaninc.com/page/17ukl/Sale_Items.html -
Mild acid then nutralize and wash with your alkaline based soap. Don't mix or use bleach if you are going to use acid.

Jewlers rouge I believe is what you are talking about Jim. The machine you are talking about is used for weld cleaning to remove the blueing. It works great on welds but I am not sure about chemical burns. Here is a link to one type of unit. http://www.revolutionmaterials.com.au/surfox.htm

first hot water unit
Paul Kassander replied to Jim Eme's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
If you are looking for a trailer rig check out the hydroblasters, very nice. When you pick out a machine you also need to think about your space you are working with. On a trailer you can fit a pretty big skid but in a truck or van you will need somthing with a smaller footprint. Decide which way you want to go and work from there. If you need ideas or have questions feel free to call or email and I will be happy to share my experiences. -

Doug is right, componet wise they are all close to equal. Your quality machines will have a heavier frame and better overall design and easy access to wearable items like unloaders flow switches etc... Look for ones with vibration dampeners, remote monuted unloaders, and if you go with a 12v burner get the high capacity charging system and you will have much better life on the equipment. -
Now thats some work equipment...keep it running no time to clean the machine. Now how long will your guys keep it that way?

Coil Cleaning
Paul Kassander replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I use the muriatic and a shurflo which I rinse when done. I might do mine 1 time every 3-4 years but my water quality is pretty good. The harder your water the more often you will have to clean it. -
Looking foward to seeing it.

General much easier to work on find parts and just as or more durable.

They are ok but I heard that in cold climates they will retain water and freeze up more in the winter causing ice dams and gutters to fall off. I have also heard of plants growing from them.

Just get some plain old leather palm work gloves with or without insulation. Sams or Lowes, or Home Depot has them for about 10 bucks for a 3 pack I think. The insulated rubber ones still get wet from sweat and after about a week get really stinky where you don't want to put your hand in them.

I remember when my dog was little and cute like that, now he's huge. Nice puppys.

Yes, you won't get as much of a temp rise but you will still get some hot water my guess is about 20-50 degree drop depending on the hot box. And change the tips to match the flow.

Replacement For Honda 13hp-gx390
Paul Kassander replied to Mike Sullivan's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I agree, some china parts are good and worth the savings. I am sure some of the engines are good, but consistently good....doubtful. -
Hey Jarrod, bring your equipment and I can set ya up.
-
That pricing sounds about right. I price my stuff the same way, Heavy Equipment is varys so much you have to do it that way.

Been plowing for the last two days. Depending on the timing I will be happy to attend and I am looking forward to it.

I'm suprised you can get that work weekly, most HE guys just do it for emergency or transport use, kudos to you. Oh ya I like the squeege idea for the safety glasses, I was thinking about getting a pair of those ones with the wipers on them...

Cash is best unless you are getting an extremely low interest rate, otherwise the interest will kill you. If I am not mistaken you could deduct all of that equipment in one year with a sec 129? deduction.
