I have washed a few like that as well. It is kinda cool when you can stand underneath the equipment and wash the engine and radiator. It is also suprising how small the engines are to power those things.
-
Congrats to her it is quite an achievement.

You might have some minor pressure drop from friction through the burner coil but not much more than before. You will probably have some temp drop with the additional flow.
-
It was tough at first but once I went full time it was the best thing I ever did. When I starte full time I wanted to net about 30k, now my goals are a bit higher. It was however a lot more than I was making at the time.
-
Oh I hate when that happens!!! What a waste.

You will need to change you tip size and make sure your gun is rates for that flow, it should be unless you bought it from Home Dep. Your hose should be ok as long as the psi rating is that high and you are using 3/8". Really as lon as your pressure ratings are ok you should just have to change tips.

Fleet Wash: A Good Foundation
Paul Kassander replied to PRESSURE PACKED's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Fleets are a little different, contacts and cold calls work the best in my area. Talk to the drivers when you see them, they can give you a pretty good heads up and a name of the person you need to talk to. It is difficult to get in the door on some of the larger jobs but the small to med size are not too bad. Once you get them all you really need to do is a good job, consistantly, and you will have a hard time loosing them. -
Fleet Wash: A Good Foundation
Paul Kassander replied to PRESSURE PACKED's topic in Business Topics & Tips
Scott you are right on. Most of my work is fleets as well, you can make a good living and for the most part it is very consistant. Same trucks every two weeks, same amount of time(mostly) and consistant income. -
And the burner stays on why????
Paul Kassander replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Sounds like the unloader to me. -
For homes you can use emulsifier plus with or without bleach. If you use it without bleach the plants will not be harmed, if bleach is used you may get some spotting on plants. It is best to pre wet and rinse them well before and after you wash. For trucks I prefer Problend, but people in hotter climates seem to prefer Prodigy (personal prefrence) If you are applying soap at high pressure I would reccommend Prodigy. Low pressure Problend, you dont want to let them dry though because they are difficult to remove when dried on the surface. Both of these chems are caustic free and work well when two stepping. Concrete you can use Prodigy as a mild cleaner/degreaser for bad areas a strong degreaser, otherwise just hot water works well. If there are rust stains you can use a rust away product or brightner to lighten the concrete (oxacillic acid). Removing gum...Hot water and a 15 degree tip. I would reccommend staying away from the turbo nozzles and 0 degree tips untill you get more experienced, they can do a lot of damage. Good luck let me know if I can help any more.

It is possible that a piece of rust plugged the hole temporarily. If it is developing leaks you may be able to repair them but more than likely it will be short lived. A new coil will usually run between $400-1000 depending on the size of the machine. If it were me I would replace it, changing coils can be a PITA and down time is a killer.

Water supply question
Paul Kassander replied to Mountainaire's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Belt drives are almost always a better way to go. But what you have should work fine. -
can i run diluted shc through my injector?
Paul Kassander replied to douseahouse's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Yes you can, it will just wear out the orings a bit faster, but not any faster than your gun wears out. -
rebuilding air tools?
Paul Kassander replied to racechaser's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
I have rebuilt them before they are suprisingly easy. Just open it up carefully because there is usually a spring that goes flying or a small ball. Most of the time it just need to be cleaned up and lubed to remove the moisture and corrosion. -
Water supply question
Paul Kassander replied to Mountainaire's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Your pump should suck the water weather it is direct gear or belt driven. In some cases you may need to have some positive water displacement to force the air from the system. You can do that with a large water tank or small just by having the water higher than the pump. Once the pump is "primed" and the air is out of the system you should be able to suck it up a few feet without pressure loss or starving the pump. If you are having problems sucking water it may be time to rebuild your pump. When you pressure feed the pump with water and you see little drops of water from behind the head this is a sign that the packings are worn and should be replaced. When you are under positive water inlet pressure you will not always notice a problem because the water supply and inlet pressure is greater than the pump needs to suck. When you suck from a tank the pump will pull form the easiest source...the small air leaks around the packings. -
Here's the cut out screw location
Paul Kassander replied to Russ Johnson's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Good tip Russ, I have had a few leakers in my time. -
You should be ok as long as you attach positive to + and negative to -. You will drain the batttery pretty fast though.

Hot water and Generator won't work on my skid
Paul Kassander replied to Jhignutt's question in Residential Pressure Washing
A quick way to check if it is your generator is to plug the machine into a wall socket and see if it runs ok that way. -
again :) Surfactant question. :) How about "Emulsifier Plus" from Espec?
Paul Kassander replied to POWERMEN INC's question in Residential Pressure Washing
When you email or fax an order to Envirospec or Mobiclean you will receive an aditional 10% off of your order on all non sale items purchased. You will not however receive that discount on sale items which are already at their lowest prices. So right now Emulsifer plus is on sale for $52.56 (lowest price). When the items are not on sale the Regular call in price is 75.09 (1-3qty)...email,fax, web order would be $67.58. -
YES, YES, YES. And god bless you and your families.

Electric Power Washer
Paul Kassander replied to MEDSKER's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Yes we have a local washer around here that has a big diesel generator in his truck and runs all electric as well. Not very common though. -

Paul Kassander replied to jnoden's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Make sure the o ring is pushed down into place, other wise some different brands will not match up occasionally. -
