Sparks from burner
Paul Kassander replied to NewYorkBoraPL's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Does it look like cinders? It could be the soot buildup getting knocked loose from the startup when the pressure if the burner lighting is created. Eventually the coil may have to be pulled and cleaned, or you could try a fuel additive to slowly remove soot buildup. -

5.6 gpm gear drive. What is your opinion of these gear drive units?
Paul Kassander replied to POWERMEN INC's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Try squeezing the trigger and adjust the unloader untill your gauge no longer rises. Then back it off untill you see the needle just start to drop and you shouldn't have that problem anymore. -

Down Streaming 300ft of hose
Paul Kassander replied to ryanwiles's question in Residential Pressure Washing
If you are just using the hose to get distance you can put it in the middle and set up your bucket there with the chem and not drag around the extra chem hose like the x jet. -
Now Ken, would I do that to you?

Would yall do this?
Paul Kassander replied to TNT Pressure Washing's topic in Business Topics & Tips
We have a guy in town that paints his trucks with house paint and a roller and brush. Then he takes those stnecils and a can of spraypaint int paints his name and number on the side, overspray and all. I guess he doesn't like to spend money because when his trucks break down he paints over the name and number and leaves the trucks abandoned. -

Lance Question in Regards to Downstreaming
Paul Kassander replied to Buckeye's question in Residential Pressure Washing
You got it. The high low gives you the drop in pressure for soaping and the high pressure for rinsing. They are also adjustable like the M5 so you can change your spray pattern from a 0 degree up to like 100 degrees fo soaping and 0 - about 25 for rinsing, depending oun your pressure. If you like a wider fan you can bend the fins in a little so they meet tighter for pressure. I use them all the time now, they are pretty durable and I have found them to be the best for downstreaming. -

buying new pump - need some advice
Paul Kassander replied to Curb Appeal's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Joel, If you are looking for a pump check here http://www.envirospec.com/pdfs/pump.pdf it is a good source to find a pump that is rated for your motor. You can put a ts2021 on a 13 hp it will give you 5.6 gpm at 2,500psi the cool drive has that pump on it http://mobicleaninc.com/store/category/a3ft/Pressure_Washers.html . -
I agree with Ken, that assessment sounds right.

House Washing Chemical
Paul Kassander replied to Ron Strickland's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Emulsifier plus, or Premier will work good if there is mild mildew, but more then likely you will have to add the bleach with it to kill the mildew in your area. (not quite as bad up here, burr... might hit 50 today) -
By the way where did you get that picture of my siding?

5.6 gpm gear drive. What is your opinion of these gear drive units?
Paul Kassander replied to POWERMEN INC's question in Residential Pressure Washing
I have a customer that has about 20 of the gear drive units on 18-24 hp hondas with ts2021 pumps and he has had excellent results with them. The Higher end gear drives work well, just be sure it is rated for the higher hp motors. Thease ones we carrry that are rated to 27 hp. http://mobicleaninc.com/store/category/bhf8/Gear_Drives_and_Pulleys.html -

torsion or leaf spring
Paul Kassander replied to One Tough Pressure's topic in Tools, Equipment & Basic Maintenance
Leaf springs will work best, plus you can easily add an additional leaf and boost the capacity. I think by 20%?, can't quite remember, a spring guy told me once when I was trying to turn my 16,000 lb truck into a 20,000 lb truck. Don't over load your truck though you'll be snapping axles, burning transmissions, and have problems stopping. Yes I did all three and more, but I learned my lesson. -
How to fix a pressure washer pump? Water in pump oil-
Paul Kassander replied to POWERMEN INC's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Water in the oil is an indication that your seals ore bad. Start by removing the head of the pump to diagnose the problem. It could be bad seals, cracked ceramic pistons or a bad oring on the piston bolt. More than likely it is the seals though. Feel free to call if you need help. -
All of your chemicals should be in tightly sealed containers and properly secured in the bed of your truck. For that matter all items neeed to be secured or strapped when in an open vehicle to prevent them from flying out of the vehicle in the event of a crash. Also make sure you have your msds lsheets handy and your pails of mixed and unmixed chems are labeled for identification. A vented tool box is a goodway to store your chems because then you do not have to worry about someone getting at them when thay shouldn't because you can lock it up.
