  2. FREE Roof Cleaning Certifications?? Say it can't be so..........

    Deception...Thats all.
  3. FREE Roof Cleaning Certifications?? Say it can't be so..........

I would like to know all of the committee's and who are the members (both BOD and non). John, From the way it looks there are only around 80 paid members. Not sure where the 300 is coming from. Maybe thats the amount of BBS members?
  4. show your stuff

Matt, I think Jim was looking for some "wood" pictures....lol
  5. FREE Roof Cleaning Certifications?? Say it can't be so..........

Guy, I am not trying to beat up anything. Just my opinion that the BOD is wasting too much valued time on certifications then membership. With membership being at approx 80 contractors why waste time and effort for a coil cleaning cert? I am using that only because I truly only know one person who has taken that. As for Doug ask him why he is banned from TGS? You stated that no one was certified thru Dougs school. Who is doing the certifications then? Guy, I didnt see an answer (sorry if you did answer) but are you telling me Doug has not voted on anything for the BOD?
  6. FREE Roof Cleaning Certifications?? Say it can't be so..........

Guy, The wife and baby are good. Baby will be 2 in couple months. Now thats out of the way. Read what you wrote. Its sounds like your talking in circles. If they are not training certifications what the **** are they? Who created them? The certifications that your committee put together started when? How many have been certified out side of Dougs school? Ron plainly lied to me when he told me that the ***** was not going to do certifications. Thats ok because I know it can change. The idea of being secretive is not a good thing for this industry. It has been proven time and time again that when things are hidden (i.e., Dougs distributorship) it can be devastating to say the least. For some of the BOD to continuously talk in the circles that they have makes me wonder where you all stand. For the comments that your president wrote stating joining the most successful Org and get all the benefits is great. But when people find out there are only around 80 members? (I will say that that is another question that has been avoided--not by you but BOD) I understand marketing probably as best as the next guy considering we service three different markets now. So I do understand the point for the Org to have certificates. But make sure the majority knows what they are getting into when buying into a marketing scheme and not learning from someone that may be more then willing to sell them their products. As for Doug voting on topics. Again lies. Your president told me Doug didnt vote on any topics. And if you cant see the road that this will take you down. Well maybe you didnt travel it years ago.
  7. FREE Roof Cleaning Certifications?? Say it can't be so..........

Guy, Whats going on man? The above statement has me very confused. If the ***** isnt offering certifications than why is ***** certified on the bottom signature of your president and others? Isnt it the same as what you are saying the Org doesnt offer? One other question that was avoided was that the VP offers a school. Has the VP ever voted on any topic, subject etc since he has been in that position? Thanks,
  8. PWNA Cosmetic Cleaning BMPs based on the EPA's Model Ordinance

Mike, Knowing the Snow and Ice Management as I do there really isnt an explanation. I do know that most states (or at least Maryland) are trying to pass bills that use of brine will be a requirement 24 hours prior to any snow event. My opinion is that this is their regulation as cutting the use of actual rock salt. Knowing that brine is salt and water mixed I am sure the thinking is we just cut the salt usage in half. Again thats just my opinion and maybe someone knows something more.
  9. Tell us some of your accidents?

Was just thinking about how many go without accidents. For myself, being in this industry for right at 10 years I will say a few of mine. Doing a deck once and got too close to the steps and down 10 steps I went on my keister. Funny part was I was sore but not hurt. The customer came out to see the job and asked what was all over my back (deck stripper and stain). He was an insurance company owner so you can guess I didnt want to tell the truth but I did and we both actually laughed at it. Now this one was a classic. Couple years back the filter and line from the tanks to the machine iced up. I figured no problem this will be easy. The only problem I had was that the ice was so bad I couldnt get the filter off. Out comes the blowtorch. It works so dont laugh yet. Just be safe with what you are doing. So I got the metal strainer free of ice but being in a rush just grabbed the metal strainer with my hand. 2nd degree burns will make you realize that isnt ice anymore its heat...LOL. Yes I laugh at these and hopefully no one has horror stories. But these are fun to share in my opinion.
  10. Members in Sandy's path PLEASE check in!

We made out ok. I got concerned as the one weather station said the eye was going to come directly over us. One neighbor lost a fence but no other damage. I have an aunt over by the West Va and Maryland line and they got two feet of snow. No THANKS...lol.
  11. Sandy

I checked craigslist yesterday and people are asking double the cost for generators...lol. I was talking with my dad yesterday and was curious about what people do with their old ones that they bought last year. Do people eat them? This storm is bad and we are hours away from the worse of it. To me, some people over prepare (lady down the street had her whole car trunk full of gas tanks) and some dont prepare at all. Be smart and be safe all....
  12. water tank

Oh yeah, and rinse rinse rinse that tank out...I got one a while back and the first job we did had soap everywhere...I didnt know it had anything more then water in it before me. My mistake...
  13. water tank

Marco, It really depends on your machine and the water source. If you have a dependable water source then you wont need to transport much water. If you have a bigger (8gpm machine) then you will need more water, etc... If you have a machine thats less then 5gpm then you can probably hook directly up to a house. But you will be much longer doing the jobs. Be careful of houses on wells.
  14. What has exactly changed from the orginal campaign John? Is it still volunteering, donating your hours locally, etc? Are we still going to submit the questionnaire of what we are doing, how many hours, etc?
  15. Anyone close to this place?

Tony Szabo might be up that way C. He is an Illinois guy I think...
  16. Low Water Shut Off

Dan, First bit would be to check the water source during your estimate. You can use a 5 gallon bucket if you have too. Time it and see how much is there in a minute. Secondly, if you know you are going to a well. I would go ahead and fill your tank at least 2/3 and charge accordingly. I explain this ahead of time to customers and write it also on the contract so no one is confused of the extra charge. We have had certain jobs where we had to just stop and wait for the tank to fill up because we ran out even after all that. So it does happen just not often enough.
  17. Low Water Shut Off

Dan, What size unit are you using? On our 8gpm machines if we start with about 100 gallons you should never have to worry unless you customer is on a well. IMO there isnt a need once you figure your machine out...
  18. Buying vs Leasing

Anyone want to share ideas on the benefits of leasing vs buying? I am curious of them. We have done nothing but pay cash for the vehicles and equipment for Aspen Contractors. However we are starting a new venture as well and I am running ideas thru the boss (wife).
  19. Buying vs Leasing

I love the responses. Thanks to everyone. To be honest this is going to be my wifes business. So I dont want to dump alot in right away but we already have been having a substantial amount of interests and several contracts written up and we dont have all the i's dotted and t's crossed if you know what I mean. I was kind of figuring it may be easier to get several trucks up and running (thru leasing) vs trying to go get a loan and buy them.
  20. Buying vs Leasing

Thanks Beth. I was planning on that. Thanks Alexy. Thats what we did so far. I should have been more specific but my question isnt as directed towards equipment as it was towards vehicles. We are looking at buying two new trucks and thats where my question came from. Would it be more of a headache for leasing the trucks?
  21. if you......you might be a pressure washer

LOL I did this (not hot water though) last year for the kids pool...dang.
  22. Good bye, 2011

Beth, I was telling him he needed a roof rack for that thing...LOL. Then he could have taken a whole pallet of stain home...LOL
  23. Good bye, 2011

LOL. I was sure you wasnt going to bring her back when she took off...Glad you made it home safe. Its always good talking shop. Sitting in that van for 4 hours going home I was wishing we had traded vehicles...lol
  24. Good bye, 2011

Rick, Seeing that car in pictures doesnt do it justice. The look you had while in it at Toms yesterday was like a kid with his candy. Glad to see you sporting something so classy. Hope you enjoy it and be safe.
  25. Who's buying or selling equipment for years end closeout?

Sold a trailer yesterday. Great deal for them. 2 cold water units on same trailer. one was 5.5gpm and one was 5gpm. you could flip a ball valve and 10.5gpm would come thru one hose or you could leave it split. With our other business that we just started I am sure we will be selling and buying. Its hard to see what we dont use.
