Recommended Posts

Does anyone use powder sodium hydroxite. It seems much cheaper. All I have to do is add water?

Does that have a shelf life? or even better no shelf life cause isnt floating around in water????

sodium hydroxide is a chemical and sodium hypochlorite (bleach) is a different chemical. Since you mentioned 12% I am assuming you mean sodium hypochlorite. The powder is calcium hypochlorite and is not usable in washing. It cannot be mixed strong enough and it leaves a film on everything.

Just to add to what Ken mentioned, there are guys here that have tried all kinds of pool cleaning chemicals, powders, etc.. trying to find something that works the same or better than 10% or 12.5% or less expensive but nothing else does the job or works the same.

Knowing this now, save your money from trying to reinvent the wheel and use what works, keep it simple and go make the money.

Well when you have some free time everyone likes to play around and experiment. Find ways to do it quicker and cheaper.

Like messing with aluminum brightener. Just like with the aluminum ladders. It's aluminum and mine so no call backs if it didnt work!! And I gained some experience with aluminum.

You're welcome, Michael.

It's easy to get caught up in trying to reinvent the wheel. We all have that technician in us that loves to tinker. That's the great thing about these boards. Someone else has usually done the hard work or experienced the mistakes already.
