Isaac B 14 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 Burst valve started leaking the other day. I replaced it, and now something els is leaking, either reed switch or flow I'm not sure. Do these things normally go out? Or something worse?
big mike 14 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 Burst valves usually burst from a pressure spike (but its not a leak, its a heavy pressure stream of water). I've had them freeze and burst as well. All they are is a brass cylinder a spring and a teflon disc. If it's leaking, try tightening it with an Allen wrench. If your flow switch is leaking as well, it probably needs tightening. Remember to check ALL fittings and connections at least monthly, stuff shakes loose in transit.....
Isaac B 14 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 Yup, about an inch of water in my enclosed trailer by the time I figured why I had no water @ the hose. I will check the other fittings, thanks!
Isaac B 14 Report post Posted February 7, 2010 Ok, tightened it up, it was very loose. But now the pressure relief is spraying some water. Should I replace this? It is not loose.
big mike 14 Report post Posted February 7, 2010 Yes, replace it. Once it is activated, it's been compromised. These are typical wear parts. You may need to adjust your unloader, because that should relieve pressure before it gets high enough to activate the pressure relief..
