Depends on what you are anchoring them to, and what type of anchors.

Nothing in the world wrong with recycling building materials. Saves money and you get some new shutters.

You can go to your "settings" tab ( upper right) then signature edit.

Depending on the house and the look you are going for, it could look either very cool, or like a cheap knock off. Look for older reclaimed lumber, something rough. I would not use deck boards per se. Hope these links give you some ideas.....

Thanks for the ideas Beth.

My plan was to use a tablesaw to cut off the rounded edges and rip the boards into 4" widths, nail them together, clean them up and stain them to match the deck. The house is a rental that I own, I am hoping to give it a rustic look.
