Looking to learn...New

Question

Hi,

I'm very new to this to the business and wouldn't pretend otherwise. I live in Maine and would like to come and train how to clean comercial and residential properties. I have limited cleaning expierience ...when I say that I mean cleaning my home and some family members homes. I have spent most of my professional career in sales and think that could be helpful in this business but I'm eager to learn the proper skills to be successful. I'd like to start in Febuary and I'm willing to travel through out the U.S. to train with the right company. If anyone would be willing to spend a week or two giving me some direction, I would love to hear from you. I would like to do shingled roofs as well.

Thanks,

Brian

Copied from another BBS:

[h=2]New Orleans Pressure Washing Class[/h]

Would you like to learn more about pressure washing, softwashing, and roof cleaning?

Do you want to start offering these services in addition to window cleaning?

Do you already offer these services, but are curious whether you're doing them in the safest and most effective manner? Want to learn how to make amazing profits with minimal effort?

Then consider attending this special 5 hour long information packed class on Thursday, Feb. 2nd in New Orleans, LA. This is right before the 5th annual New Orleans Networking Event. In fact, this class will also be held in the main meeting room at the Hotel Provincial right in the French Quarter. Class starts promptly at 9:00 AM.

The course will be taught to drastically shorten the learning curve for contractors looking to get into pressure washing. We'll go over the equipment that is needed, how you can already use equipment you already own, how to maintain the equipment. You'll learn how to clean just about every exterior surface effectively and safely - increasing your profit margin.

Attendees - new and seasoned alike - will benefit not only from the information presented during the class, but also from a binder with tons of printed information. No need to take notes!

A few topics to be covered:

Residential SoftWash Methods

Commerical Concrete Cleaning

Roof Cleaning Methods

Chemical Usage & Safety

Marketing

Pressure Washing Disasters - and How to Avoid Them

Tips & Tricks

How to Downstream

And Much More!

I promise you'll leave New Orleans ready to make serious money offering these services - and you'll have the information and knowledge to do so!

Preparations are in the works for a few hands on demonstrations.

The cost of this class can EASILY be recouped in less then a day using the methods and practices taught.

Register

The first FIVE contractor seats are only $199.00 - once those go, the price is $299.00 a seat. Additional employees of a company are half price. The price will go up in January. Registration is limited due to room, so secure your spot today!

This event is separate from the New Orleans Networking Event - So make sure you sign up for both.

Check back here for more updates. Have a question? Call me direct - 864-356-3010.

Brian, go to Pressure Cleaning Contractor Magazine and get a subscription and also order the book Pressure Cleaning Bible. These are two great resources that will help you begin immediately to gain some great info and insights to this business. If at all possible do as Celeste said and try to attend the class in New Orleans. Looks like Micha has a great class and would be perfect for you. Anyting you can do to better your education will only help you in the long the run.

You already have a great start by joining TGS. Read a lot my friend. Tons of great info here and if I can help you in any way I'm just a phone call away.

I appreciate the info....but leads me to another question. I could attend the class as well as go work with someone. What would you professionals think would be more beneficial,,,go to a class,,,or go work along an expert in the field? I'm sure both would be great, but my time away from home and my cash flow would only allow me to do one. Thanks for your suggestion!!!!

To me there is nothing like hands on training. Your right both would be great, but if you can find someone in your area that will allow you to work along side them, then your able to get real application to what you are being taught. Hope that helps.

Hands on experience is priceless! But, an experienced cleaner may not be able to tell you why they do some things and even how...one of those second nature things...like driving home at the end of the day and then wondering how you got there!

The class would help you know some of those principles so you can then form your own methods. Forming your own methods with that knowledge will help you adapt to your local needs! I wouldn't give up the hands on for the class, but I'd try to do the hands on, end around the same time and place as nola, then go home after the class! But, we all understand limited time and resources!

Started a website. The templates I have to choose from don't look as good as some of the websites I have checked out, but it's a start. I have three jobs I have lined up for the spring(I know it's pretty far out). But I have two vinyl fences and a roof. One of the horse fences is a mile long, and we have decided on a $100.00 an hour, know idea how long that will take. Both customers have agreed to do it once a year if they come out well, so I'm anxious to train with someone. I have been in sales most of my life, and would love to start cold calling businesses and Real Estate offices. I would be comfortable to go and start selling, but lack the confidence of not cleaning professionally before. I could do it, but not sure I would feel right about it. I think when it comes to training, although the classes sound great, I'm going to plan on training with someone the first week or so of February. I know that will not make me an expert, but hopefully send me in the right direction. I have to say this is a very helpful forum, and I'm quite glad I stumbled across this site.
