He stressed, “Delivery is important.” Markey said it’s a good idea for an operation to hold a supervisors meeting when a new product line is introduced by its supplier, and put the product through its own test before bringing it to their accounts, to determine whether the product is better than what they have. It is important that a building service contractor (BSC) has the right supplies in its warehouse as well as the account’s cleaning closet, and an in-house cleaning operation stock its closet well. So, what should be in the cleaning closet? Absolute’s! Markey said that depends. After a contract is signed with an account, Markey suggests operations people take a tour of the facility to determine its special cleaning needs. Often, a representative from the supply company is on hand. Bottom line: To retain accounts, you don’t want to “do well” — you want to “do exceptionally well”.
